Curt Boettcher was a song-writer/musician/producer who had an armful of songs to his credit, remnants of a group (or two) and a production deal with a major label. My World Fell Down was slated for another artist who decided not to record it. But the song was so good Boettcher decided to record it on his own, with help from that legendary non-band of studio musicians The Wrecking Crew and out flew a well received and moderately well sold record. From there came a follow up single and an album and a cult following that continues to this day.

Boettcher epitomized that genre of "Sunshine Pop"; a style of singing and songwriting that epitomized innocence and a lack of world weariness - the Eternal Summer state of mind. And even though much of it has been passed over as light and fluffy and pretty innocuous, there are flashes of brilliance to be had. Curt Boettcher and his gang of associates were several cuts above the rest. And perhaps that's why their music still holds interest.
