Midnight Oil, one of the most popular bands to come out of Australia in the 90s featured a towering vocalist, Peter Garrett, who was much more than your average mic slinger. Even while the band was together, his day job consisted of working on environmental and indigenous population issues for the Australian government.

When Midnight Oil disbanded in 2002, Garrett became a full-time politician, winding up being appointed the position of Environment Minister in 2007. The band has reunited recently along with Garrett for a fundraiser, and there is speculation whether they are officially reunited or not. Such is the eternal situation with bands.

But tonight it's Midnight Oil the band, playing at Glastonbury in 1993, riding the crest of a very popular wave to a very appreciative festival audience.
