The Like are an L.A. band, starting off as a trio of 15 and 16 year olds with built-in musical backgrounds in 2001. In 2002, 2003 and 2004 they released an ep each year with a new batch of songs which they sold on their
website (MySpace) and at gigs, which they did a lot.
They were signed to Geffen in 2005 and released their first album which included all the songs on their ep's but were either re-recorded, re-mixed or reworked. Since that time they've released a second album and have had a change in personnel and direction and are getting a good word of mouth and increased sales.
So I thought tonight I would post one of their early tracks, off ep #3 (which sold out rather quickly) - the original version of What I Say And What I Mean which, although not wildly different from the album release, has a different feel to it - a little more stripped down than the Geffen version.
Anyway - a good band of up and comers to listen to this Friday night. If you're familiar with them you might not be familiar with this version of a well-known (mostly) song. If you're not familiar with them - by all means, check them out. I think they're around for the long haul.
