Nights At The Roundtable - Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers - 1960
Nights at the Roundtable featuring Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers from the soundtrack to the 1960 French film Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons), "Prelude In Blue".
Continuing Jazz Week with a detour to The French New Wave and one of the many classic contributions American Jazz made to the cause of film in the 1950's and early 60's.
And one of those classics was the soundtrack to the Roger Vadim film Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liaisons) which was released in 1960 featuring a soundtrack by Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. It also featured French sax player Barney Wilen, who was a popular figure on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as Duke Jordan on piano and Jimmy Merritt on bass.
Tonight's track is Prelude In Blue. Something low-key and mellow while you're watching the goings on in Iowa.
