Nights At The Roundtable - The Zombies - 1964

Nights At The Roundtable - The Zombies from a session recorded on November 25, 1964 - I Remember When I Loved Her.

The Zombies - completely distinctive sound.

The Zombies were an almost instant hit with American audiences when they debuted in 1964. Their two most memorable hits from that period were She's Not There and Tell Her No - nobody else sounded like them and I think it had something to do with a heavy reliance on the electric piano (as most bands at the time were guitar oriented) combined with breathy-jazzy vocals that made them sound so unique. In retrospect, the band didn't really last all that long before branching and morphing into Argent, who became a huge staple in the early 1970's musical diet. In all fairness though, they were together from 1961 until disbanding in 1968, which is a good run for a lot of bands. Their last big hit was Time Of The Season which came after the band had broken up.

But tonight it's The Zombies from 1964. During the session of November 25th, a session that also netted their second landmark hit, Tell Her No. Tonight's track is I Remember When I Loved Her, from a stereo remix issued in 2002.

A good way to end out the weekend. But don't take my word for it.
