Albert Spalding is probably not so much a widely recognized name as Jascha Heifetz, for example. But he was no less important figure in the world of astounding violin playing.

Sadly, he didn't record a lot. If he had, I suspect Spalding would be much more recognized today. But in any event tonight's recording, the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante in E-Flat Major K. 364 was part of a series of sessions he did while he was under contract to RCA. This one, from 1941 features Albert Spalding as well as William Primrose on Viola and accompanied by the Friends Of Music Orchestra conducted by Fritz Steidry.
