Maurice Thiriet.
It's interesting that only lately Thiriet is being recognized outside of France for the large body of Symphonic and Chamber works he composed, rather just the tremendous amount of Film scores he did throughout his career. It certainly wasn't the case back home, as Thiriet enjoyed a wide popularity throughout Europe for his versatility.
At any rate, one of his non-film score pieces is music for the ballet La Nuit Venitienne which Thiriet composed in 1938.
It just goes to prove there's a lot to like out there in unfamiliar territory.
