Sunday Gramophone - The Pasquier Trio With Jean-Pierre Rampal And Odette Le Dentu Play Roussel - 1948

Sunday Gramophone featuring the Roussel Quintet Serenade Op. 30 in a recording for the French Radio Transcription service with the Pasquier Trio and Jean-Pierre Rampal, Flute and Odette Le Dentu, Harp.

Trio Pasquier - the last word in French string ensembles.

Another recording via the Radio France Transcription Service. This one from 1948 and features a studio broadcast performance of the Quintet Serenade op. 30 by Albert Roussel, performed by the famed Trio Pasquier with Jean-Pierre Rampal, flute and Odette Le Dentu, Harp.

The Pasquier brothers were the string performing body in France from the 1920's well into the 1960's. They have countless premiers and dedications to their credit as well as an impressive catalog of recordings, many of which are considered definitive performances of important French repertoire.

I am sure a commercial recording was made of this Quintet with the Pasquier's. This one I don't believe has been released commercially. Whether the originals of this performance exist in the archives at Radio France can only be guessed.

In any event, you get to enjoy this one now and end up Sunday night on a high note.
