Sunday Gramophone - Sir Thomas Beecham In Performance - 1947

Sunday Gramophone with a broadcast performance by the Royal Philharmonic led by Sir Thomas Beecham and featuring Betty Humby Beecham, piano solo. All Mozart from The BBC, April 28, 1947.

Sir Thomas Beecham. Often referred to as "inimitable". And they were right.

Sir Thomas Beecham leading an all-Mozart program and commenting as he goes along which, if you like droll senses of humor, this has your name on it. The one hour concert features the following Mozart pieces: Overture to Magic Flute, Divertimento Number 2, Piano Concerto Number 19 (with Betty Humby Beecham, piano) and the Overture to Marriage of Figaro.

All good stuff from April 28, 1947, courtesy the BBC Transcription Service and those monstrous 16" discs which you don't want to drop on your foot.
