Calif. Gov. Jerry Brown Challenges NJ Gov. Chris Christie

You gotta love Jerry Brown. The man is 74 years old, spent his entire life in public service and can run circles around people half his age, literally.

And that includes a certain governor from New Jersey, touted to be the great GOP hope for 2016.

So at a speech before the UFCW, my governor issued a challenge to Chris Christie.

I’ve slowed down a little bit, but I gotta tell you: I ran three miles in 29 minutes two nights ago. And I hereby challenge Gov. Christie to a three mile race, a push up contest and a chin up contest. And whatever he wants to bet. I’ve no doubt of the outcome.

And while it may seem slightly mean-spirited to pick on someone because of their weight, I do want to remind people that campaigning nationally is an arduous practice that takes a lot of out even the most seasoned politician. Remember when Newt Gingrich's campaign staffers quit because he insisted on taking a vacation in the middle of the primary season? Or the stories of Hillary Clinton popping hot peppers to stave off colds in 2008? How will Chris Christie possibly manage the rigors of campaigning when he requires a limo to drive him the 100 yards from his helicopter to his son's baseball game?

This is a challenge I don't think would be wise for Christie to meet.
