marks the passings of diplomat and presidential adviser Lawrence Eagleburger, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, actor James Arness, actress Clarice Taylor, Iranian soccer player Nasser Hejazi. In addition, the Pentagon has released the names of fourteen service members killed in Afghanistan.

According to iCasualties, the total number allied service members killed in Iraq is 4,772; in Afghanistan, 2,511, of which, 156 are Canadian. During this same period, Iraq Body Count lists 72 Iraqi civilians killed. For the month of May, 356 Iraq civilians lost their lives.
