According to iCasualties, the total number of allied servicemembers killed in Iraq is 4,711; in Afghanistan, 1,736. During this same period, Iraq Body Count lists 46 Iraqi civilians killed. In Afghanistan, reports of a mass epidemic among Afghan schoolgirls appears to be the result of poisoning, the act of some as yet unnamed militants to warn the schoolgirls against attempting to be educated and hundreds of Afghans gathered in the Logar province to protest the civilian deaths at the hands of NATO troops.
