In addition, the Pentagon released the names of four service members killed in Afghanistan.

According to iCasualties, the total number of allied service members killed in Iraq is now 4,748; in Afghanistan, 2,275, of which, 154 are Canadian. During this same period, Iraq Body Counts identifies 42 Iraqi civilians killed. A UN report released this week shows that the civilian casualties in Afghanistan have increased by 20% this year over last, although most are being blamed on insurgents. Nearly 5,500 civilians in Afghanistan have been killed this year.
