Robert Glasper hails from Texas, where he established his roots in jazz. However, Glasper has gone on to take part in many collaborations, not only in jazz, but in Hip Hop as well. Eventually, Glasper was able to collaborate with enough hip hop and jazz artists to release an album that could elegantly blend the two genres. The result was Black Radio, which features renowned artists ranging from Erykah Badu to Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), who is featured on this particular track. The music on this album not only creates an empowering environment for black artists to express their art, but it also demands that the minstrelsy that permeates black music nowadays be put to an end.
