Sunday Talking Head Thread

cafeaulait.jpg (Cafe au lait photo via Bizzy Girl. Looks good this morning...)

The Sunday Talking Head Thread is up and ready for your perusal. It's a mixed line-up -- some old pros, some of the usual Sunday hot air crowd, a few celebrities thrown in for flavor.

The line-up says to me: immigration, the Middle East, Wolf Blitzer scored an exclusive with the leader of VietNam and perhaps a bit of disgust with the DOJ and Vice President Cheney, all rolled into one morning package and spread out over several shows. Oh, and Ed Koch and Ed Rollins will talk about how their political wisdom is better than anyone else’s.

What’s catching your eye on the blogs or in the news this morning?

The Dems should assure that Henry Waxman shows up on the Sunday circuit. He articulates, better than anyone, the disease that Bushco and the Repugs have infested our government with, and the dangers to the Constitution that they have wrought.

This new thing is good.. Now if only we could have this same magic wand waved over the whitehouse and get
IT fixed.............

Why waste time, instead watch PBS on Friday evenings and Frontline on Tuesday evenings if you're really into news and not hype.

GREENSPAN JAILED AS LEO FILES FOR MANDAMUS WRIT
TEXT OF WANTA'S PETITION FOR RELIEF IN FEDERAL COURT
Sunday 24 June 2007 04:19

CIVIL ACTION # 1-07 CV 609 IN THE U.S. DISTRICT COURT, ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA

By Christopher Story FRSA, Editor and Publisher, International Currency Review, World Reports Limited, London and New York: www.worldreports.org. Press NEWS and the ARCHIVE Button on the www.worldreports.org Home Page for 'Wantagate' reports since April 2006. [Note: The CLICK HERE panel is now: NEWS. A panel giving details of our latest publications has been added.].

FORMER FED CHAIRMAN GREENSPAN IN JAIL WITHOUT BAIL
During the week ending 15th June 2007, ‘unspecified very senior officials’ in the United States were arrested and jailed without bail, in connection with corrupt financial operations exploiting the financial assets belonging to Ambassador Sir Leo Emil Wanta (1) as sole Principal.

The former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, Dr Alan Greenspan, who was in office when these illegal and corrupt financial scandals to the severe detriment of the American people, the US Treasury and the Ambassador were embarked upon, is among those in jail, and has likewise been refused bail. This is only the beginning of the belated sensational consequences of Wantagate.

SIR LEO FILES FOR A WRIT OF MANDAMUS IN FEDERAL COURT
On 18th June, the Ambassador filed a Writ for Mandamus in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. The case Number is: Civil Action # 1-07 CV 609. The text of the filing is given below, minus the Exhibits [see notes at foot of the text]. The Judge in this action has the power to compel payment of the illegally diverted and exploited $4.5 trillion Settlement to the Ambassador/AmeriTrust Groupe, Inc..

A Petition for a Writ of Mandamus is not a normal lawsuit, but presupposes a matter of the gravest consequence. The Judge has latitude to proceed in such a manner as he sees fit. For instance, he has power to order the convening of a Grand Jury, to compel each and every Member of the Bush II Cabinet to appear before him, including the President and the Vice President, to order their prompt compliance with the Court’s demands, and to procure whatever remedies, however severe, that he may deem appropriate.

What I would really like to know is why the Media is so silent on the Cheney News Item. The government has been usurped by Cheney and yet the press is covering the murder of some girl in the mid-west.

I think the Media is half of the problem in this country. They try to treat stories like some kind of reality TV show, meanwhile,
stories like the Cheney matter go un-reported or hidden far under the fold.

EVERYBODY.....Write/Call your Senators and Congresspersons about this. This is real criminal activity happening under our noses and nobody....and I mean NOBODY, is doing anything.

FNS actually spent about two minutes on the Cheney controversy this morning, even giving Dianne Feinstein the opportunity to describe the issue as to "Just which Branch of government does the VP's office belong to?" And agreed with the possibility of withholding funds for his office until a decision is made.

Despite what Internet liberals may think, most real working class Americans, and I mean the people who tune up your Prius or press your dry cleaning, haven't given a flying fock about the Iraq war for the last couple of years now. Not until recently, when it became pretty clear we are losing it -- losing being the worst possible thing in a society force fed on sports and the winner-loser mentality which created the uniquely American contemptuous epithet, "a loser." But now as my friend Buddy, who at middle age has been reduced to bagging groceries and "shagging carts" in the parking lot at one of the local Food Lion supermarkets says, "If we ain't losing, we seem to been over there entirely too long to be winnin'. That's for shore."

Great, but isn't it just pitifull how the three major networks are all spending all this time on the body of the girl in Ohio and now the first interviews of Bimbette Paris Hilton getting out of jail. Who give a rats ass about that stuff. It should be on "local" news. I mean, I'm sorry for her family etc, but our country is being RAPED in front of us by Cheney and all we get is a few minutes of it on the news?

Did the invitations from the networks and the cable shows for the antiwar voices somehow get lost in the mail? As usual, despite the fact that a majority of the people in this country have finally recognized that the presence of the U.S. military in Iraq has been a disaster, the television programs still stubbornly refuse to recognize the legitimacy of the antiwar movement.

Juan Willians got a big guffaw (or agreement?) from Hume when he described Cheney's new secrecy more as a way to hide secrets "in an undisclosed bunker in his own mind." :)

As they also are ignoring EVERYTHING of any import. Instead, we get 24 hours of bullshit press coverage of non-news articles. (Stars being released from so-called prisons, murder in Ohio, rain in Texas, ) I call those articles the who gives a rat-ass article, but there they are 24/7

For me, I really do not pay much mind to what is on the cable news networks anymore. Most of it is not news. I mean, when I looked at the tv CNN ran a story about 30,000 people puckering up for something or other. I said in response, "So?" I turned off the tv and went back to my computer scanning the world newspapers for news.

Has anyone figured out what the TAGS are? What is the "s" for?

I thought the 's' was for strikeout. But apparently not. As far as the Sunday morning shows go, I watch This Week. But I usually skip the first 30 minutes of spin ... which is usually right wing water carrying, sometimes balanced with a democrat--but rarely at the same time. I skip that part to go to the commentary, because it's one of the few places you can hear commentary without a shoutfest and a purely partisan moderater. Then I like the In Memoriam segment ... keeps me up on celebrity deaths, etc. So, thanks to TiVo, it takes about 15 minutes to watch This Week.

I get my real news from The Daily Show and Keith Olbermann ... and Crooks & Liars.

PurplePatriot's picture

Oh ... one thing I forgot. It can't go unsaid that the Dems really don't have much of a majority when they don't have 60 votes in the senate. Simple majority, with the other party in the white house just isn't enough. So that should caveat any criticism of this democratic "majority". It took 12 years for the repugs to turn congress into a joke. The dems have only had 6 months ... and no real majority.

►Shiva H Vishnu◄'s picture

I have to agree PurplePatriot, The Daily
show and Keith are the only really reliable sources.

What you are overlooking is that the Democrats in the House have the power to bring this most illegal occupation to an end by simply not voting to authorize funds to keep the war machine going in Iraq. Congressman Kucinich has repeatedly tried to point this out: no votes for the funding and the occupation comes to a halt. The Democrats cannot claim that they oppose the war if they continually vote to keep the occupation afloat.

Just half an hour ago our local NBC station stated that the authorities "think they have found the body of the pregnant mother in Ohio." If they don't know for certain why have ALL the TV stations, mainly cable, been devoting hours and hours to this story??? Cnn, Msnbc, etc. will drag this story out until something else comes to their attention. Hopefully Paris Hilton getting out of jail will be the item to make them drop the Ohio story. The news people are sick, sick, sick. God forbid I will ever have this type of tragedy in my life but I certainly do not want the news stations to drag my face, my families faces, all over the screen, asking their asinine questions, and making a mockery of our family. How many times do we have to see and hear the mother/father/family asked "how did you feel when they discovered your loved ones body?" How the hell do you think they feel!!!

Wake up, America. Time is running out. Your election system is being summarily eliminated. THERE WILL BE NO PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN '08. What do you think Cheney is hiding? Iraq info. HA! Add it up. Connect the dots. It's FAR bigger than that. That's why he's hiding it all. Just like his meeting with the oil executives.

Boy, this is a dumber country than even I believed. Go adhead build a fence around the country. See what happens. Put the noose around your own necks. The ignorant bastards that comprise this country deserve EVERYTHING that they are going to get. Dead children, lost futures. All sanctioned, signed off and paid for by the prisoners.

Germany was destroyed by conventional weapons due to its ignorance. Those who ignore the mistakes of the past, are doomed to repeat them. Only this time, the world will destroy US...and they won't have to set foot on our own soil to do it. The free market elitists that control this country don't mind playiing by jungle rules, cause they don't have to LIVE in the jungle. They are above it. See what your mad thirst for consumption brings you. Embrace it. Enjoy it while you can. There will be no telethons for starving Americans. There won't BE any Americans.

Sit back, let the Dick Cheney's of the world flaunt your so-called laws. There'll be no place to hide. No place to run. AND no one to blame. But ourselves.

I have a question about why comment #7 was deleted. The site monitor says, "[deleted - no 9/11 conspiracy theory here, please. - site monitor]"

I have no idea what was said or how out of whack it was with reality but it seems to be political censorship. I absolutely agree that a site monitor should delete anything threatening, obscene, or even overly critical without justification but deleting ideas because they are lumped into a category called "9/11 conspiracy theory"? I don't know what happened on September 11th nor do I really have any theories to speak of but...

It does seem very relevant to the politics at hand today and how can anyone say it is beyond the capability of this administration to commit such an atrocity on its country considering the things we know it has done. To me, the question is merely, "Do you believe this administration is incompetent or do you believe they are criminal?" Personally, I believe that they have been too successful in accomplishing their horrific goals (more money for their friends, ouster of Saddam, more power for their President, etc...) to be incompetent.

Why would this site censor ideas (regardless of whether you agree or not) that make an argument for this administration being criminal?

Site Monitor: This is a privately owned website, and as such, the site owner reserves the right to determine content. We do not want discussion of 9/11 alternative theories on this site because we learned the hard way that allowing for that discussion drowned out all other content. Posters would become abusive and hijack every thread. There are many sites that invite that discussion, we are not one of them. It's not censorship--you are free to have that discussion anywhere else.

(this new wordpress is good)

I am currently reading the J.H. Hatfield book Fortunate Son.
This book (far more balanced than I would personally like to admit) addresses the press and the repercussions suffered by said press during the senior Bush run for president. (I think it was Time, but unfortunately did not highlight the passage). The press learned early on that the Bush crime family does not tolerate any question of character, motive, etc. Whichever publication/journalist initially questioned Bush Sr's veracity, was from that point on, banned from covering the campaign.

The press now knows that if it questions or challenges policy, etc., there will be no access. Dan rather referred to it as the "burning tire" years ago when he was asked about the lack of press initiative. He didn't refer to Bush directly - but there it is. Thus we get missing teens in the Bahamas, lost children, floods in Texas. Of course, the floods in Texas and the Katrinas will now set the stage for dictatorship when Bush declares a national emergency and suspends elections, etc.

(What's with the slashes wherever I put an apostrophe or quotation marks?)

I do not endorse or challenge this story. This is an extraordinary report and logic would dictate a little independent research would be required. I am contributing that on the 13th. of June Mr. Greenspan was in Mexico City conducting business as usual.
In all cases I encourage people to resarch and think for themselves.

longnow's picture

All you have to do is look at the web site (recorded as a visit)
to know that the report of Greenspan's arrest is not even a hoax.

Want something wild?
The infamous Andrea, wife of the former Fed Chairman Allen Greenspan, was no doubt, the
same Andrea mentioned in a book by best selling author and psychiatrist
Brian L Weiss MD on past life regression. She was mentioned in the book only by her first
name and that she was a reporter for a major news network in NYC.
It was also stated that she had the ability to be regressed over several past lifetimes by the author.
"Andrea" had enough status at the network to have made a special report on past life hypnotic regression that was pulled by the network at the last minute. It is probable that she was using herself as a hypnotic subject in the report.

IMO she was able to hoodwink this p-doc and, most likely, herself by slipping into her little fugue...
which is to say she is working on an entirely different level than your average reporter...to the point
where she married Greenspan who is also a FOC...Friend of Cheney and of conservatives everywhere.
