I wonder when Reid will finally do something about Holy Joe:

What I witnessed today made me want to cry. Today a single soldier with two beautiful daughters, ages 2 and 4, were at my facility finalizing his paperwork before his deployment to Iraq in a couple of days. As he was sitting with a group of soldiers getting his paperwork in order, his daughters were running all over the place, so I gave them both balls to play with, and their father joined in. Right their in front of about 50 soldiers he played catch with both his beautiful daughters who don’t have a clue that their father is leaving for a very long time.
Two female soldiers started crying while watching them play. The soldier then gave both his daughters a long group hug, kissing them both on their heads, until he was called back to complete his paperwork. One of the female soldiers who was finished played with the girls until their father was ready, and she also kissed them on their heads. Later they all walked out to get some icecream from what I overheard, shortly after his oldest daughter asked him what he’s getting for her birthday next week! He said “I wish I could tell you.”

First things first: did Harry Reid actually say "the war is lost?" If he did, I must have missed it. I do recall him saying something to the effect that if we stay on this present course, the war will be lost. But did he flat out say, unequivocably, the war is lost?

I voted Lamont (the true Democrat who won the primary).
Lieberman won a campaign of name-recognition. The voters said "Hey, he's been our Senator for a long time!" and voted him in.

As a current CT resident I was dismayed when Joe won. As were many others...the Republicans of this state voted him into office. He made a deal with them and they did absolutely NOTHING to support the Republican nominee in CT. They put all of their support behind Joe in exchange for this kind of crap. Of course we're winning! We could be "winning" like this for another thousand years. We can take any part of the country. We don't have the troops to hold it. Whack-a-mole times 100 - every time you whack one, another pops up on a table across the way. We can continue to win every battle as we lose the war indefinitely. Meantime, we destroy our military and the economy that supports it.
Any "change of course" or "plan B" that doesn't address this fundamental problem is a sham, doomed to failure from the beginning. We no longer even hear the rubric "When they stand up, we will stand down," as it becomes obvious to even the most partisan observers that Iraqi forces are sectarian death squads, not peacekeepers.
This war is lost and any further sacrifice of life is wasted. Period. The apologists can rest assured that whatever dire predictions they make for Iraq after the American pullout will be fulfilled. What they neglect to mention is that those prophecies will come true whenever we leave - tomorrow, six weeks, six months, six or sixty years from now. And they will blame us for the failure as they tried to do after Vietnam. (Kinda hard to do since they were still claiming we won that war for 20 years. Hard as it is to believe now it was considered controversial and faintly treasonous to state the obvious fact that we had lost for a long, long time.)
We need to declare victory and go home. Again.
If that sad sack pile of human excrement thinks that we are morally correct in waging war on a defeated nation, murdering the remnants of their people, let him put on the uniform, the boots, give him a rifle and drop kick him into the middle of it.
Let him earn HIS paycheck. He needs to feel the sting of reality.

I so blame the voters in Connecticut for saddling us with Lieberman and his absolutely obvious resolve to be a shill for Israel no matter what the consequences...Israel and Oil period. Just wait until the Iraqi Parliament seals the deal on the whole oil rights/distribution plan that will make Bush and his friends oober-oober -rich. I don't swear and all i can say is mother___'s. Pretty soon they'll be nuking the whole place.
As a CT voter who worked very hard against Joementum Lie-berman, and for Ned Lamont, I was incredibly unhappy to see the machinations of the CT Democratic party, and the good old boys of Stamford High, in pressuring their constituents to leave the Democratic line, go down to the bottom of the voting machine chart to pull a lever for Joe, and then return to the top again. As a matter of fact I've never seen anything like it. From the way the folks who run the dem office here shuttled the Lamont people off to a tiny room in the back of the huge Stamford Democratic headquarters, to the Farrell people complaining about the Lamont people using Dem headquarter people,(it was sorta like we had to get our own people to post signs and stuff envelopes,) to the amount of dems there who obviously were FOR Joe regardless of what party he had screwed, but the worst was how a certain local politician, who was running unopposed, acted at the polls in favor of her buddy Joe. She was there as a dem and representing the party but she was screechingly calling for voters (many of whom she knew by name and made it clear that she knew their bosses and families and pastors,) to leave the line and vote for Joe!
Most people were saying that they wanted the war to end and I was talking to people about how a vote for Lamont was a vote to end the war....The thing is that if this woman was saying things like, "dont let me down honey..." or "oh, I saw your boss at church" to people as they walked in, what was happening everywhere else?....It was just unbelievable.
Lieberman is a crazy person, but he is a well connected crazy person. Some of the dems in that situation made a very serious mistake out of whatever misguided fear about a new face and loyalty for a guy who they thought was on their side, but what I saw mostly was that all the republicans voted for Joe and a certain amount of dems did too. Splitting the dem vote was what got him elected...using the Rovian fear card and the laziness of just enough of the dems.
So not all of us should be blamed...some of us worked our asses off and continue to work to get these creeps out of office.
Oh and BTW, I am never giving the Dem organization here (or anywhere) any cash again....I will support individual candidates and particular causes, but not the dems. Too many of them are bad on every level....and once we get rid of this administration, we have to start to shake out the ingrained old guard, and anyone who supported this insane agenda and who is not completely and loudly aware of the error of their ways.
