Reliable Sources
By Nicole Belle Thursday Aug 02, 2007 4:16pmMax Blumenthal looks at the "reliable" sources that the Weekly Standard used to try to besmirch Scott Beauchamp: Matt Sanchez and Throbert McGee.
And yet they still get a national platform.

Who wouldn't consider Matt Sanchez, the USMC's very own pet gay-porn star, a reliable source?
What else but lies/fiction/distortion can one expect from the Weekly Standard.
After all, if anyone ever watched the Brit Hummmm show on Faux Noise, they
are aware that one of the "Fox All-Stars" is no other than Freddie Barnes, one of
the directors/editors/writers for "The Weakly Standard"...That is a slime-ball publication
owned and controled by ultra-conservative, right-wing bigots.
Damn. "Rod Majors" is taken? Back to the drawing board.
"Throbert McGee"!
Doesn't he drop in here on occasion?
Have you noticed that lately all the gay men in the news are members of the party that is rabidly anti-gay?
Now I'm secure enough in my sexuality to admit that I have been a life-long heterosexual. And because I am secure in my straightness, it doesn't bother me that some other men aren't. But then again, I'm a Democrat.
The Republican party on the other hand, has been obsessive about homosexuality. Obsessively opposed, that is. During the last election, several Republican candidates proclaimed that gay marriage was the most critical issue facing our country, as if we weren't in the middle of a war in Iraq.
So why is it that all the gay men these days seem to be Republicans? I thought GOP stood for "Grand Old Party," not "Gay Only Party." Do we at least still have the lesbians?
We should carry amo for the New Republic. (How the hell did a Democrat rag come up with THAT name?)
There are just far to many DOCUMENTED Marine Corps civilian slaughter fests that have occured in Iraq to discount these reports of treasonous war crimes.
Uh oh...just did some googling of Matt Sanchez and found that he was
in the gay porno films during the period 1992 thur 1997...therefore, it is
Bill Clinton's fault that he is gay.
Isn't Rod Majors ever going to do the showdown with Ann Coulter to see whose packing the bigger neo-con payload?
My moneys on Annie....
Max is doing an awesome job
jr @ 10:
Cum on, you don't really mean that..
My BDS is acting up a little today. Maybe that explains my pointless exercise of going to Cave Women's site to see what she had about Beauchamp. Pretty much what you would expect. Why did I even bother? Maybe I'm unhinged worse than I thought. One thing I noticed was a conspicuous absence of any mention of the Pat Tillman story. hmmmm...big surprise.
Wait- it gets better.
John Cole(Balloon Juice) has been all over the 28%ers reactions to the Beauchamp story from the git-go. So when Cole points out the skeleton in Sanchez's wide-open closet, Red State calls Cole a homophobe:

Wingnuts. Just give 'em a shovel, they'll do the job themselves.
Sanchez dishonors the Marine Corps in more ways that one. Not only did he participate in gay porn in the past I'd bet that he lied or failed to mention that when he first enlisted. If he did he would have been labeled as such and if not its a fraudulent enlistment. I have no problem with gay folks but it seems Sanchez deliberately participated in gay porn simply for profit. Now I hear Sanchez is "en-bedded" with the troops over in Iraq and Afghanistan as a freelance journalist in order to get the "truth". I guess actually volunteering to go active duty to serve is beneath him. Although, maybe he can not volunteer and was placed on IRR immediately after his gay porn past came to light. As we all know and have heard, the military frowns on homosexuality and they are losing some very good service people because of that policy . One thing is for sure, I bet no one that he is "en-bedded" with knows of his past. If they do he will never hear the end of it.
I like how John Cole points out a hole in Matt Sanchez's logic by highlighting two choice quotes from a recent post.

I love the smell of manufactured controversy in the morning. It smells like bull shit.
Joe O. @ 14:
I'm pretty sure I read a quote from Sanchez where he said he told his recruiter about his past as a gay sex worker. He claims they told him it wouldn't be a problem. So I guess we've found a loophole in the military's ban on gays. Just tell them you only did it for money.
Nicnic @ 16: Sound like more BS from Sanchez, for the policy remains, as I
understand, "don't ask, don' tell"...and if he told the recruiter as he alleges,
he never would have been accepted.
For progressives and reality-based, you guys sure seem to dish the gay hate.
Doggiebobo @ 17:
Agreed. Sanchez would never have been accepted according to the current policy if he told the recuiters about his past. I served in the Marine Corps and its standard to serve 4 years active reserve or active duty and 4 years IRR. Wikipedia states that Sanchez enlisted in 2003. Now if he enlisted at the end of 2003 then he would still be in the active reserve for at least the rest of this year. Yet, he is now on IRR and this happened almost immediately after the inquiry by the IRR command and his past gay porn came to light. My guess is he was transfered from active reserve to the IRR soon afterwards. Sanchez can flaunt his "corporal" status as much as he wants but I bet his DD214 states something entirely different.
John Bolten's Mustache @ 18:
I'm callin' bullshit!
Sanchez made porn. Gay or straight, the self-appointed party of virtue and family values- that would be the GOP- has come down hard against porn; equally so against prostitution.
The GOP has made it absolutely clear where they stand on the rights of the GBLT community, pal.
What this is about- and this is what it's about nearly 100% of the time with Republicans- is the H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y!
Take yer weak shit elsewhere.
Matt Sanchez began posting on Right Wing News 2 months ago, and I got into it over there w/ the community and Sanchez himself. It led to a post I'm particularly proud of:
Matt Sanchez - Act 2
Also, Max Blumenthal is VERY good at what he does! He's had a great year thus far.
Why whine about htis, it's just politics and disinformation as usual.
Democrats just need to stop being babies and fight back.
