Sunday Talking Head Thread

(Photo via Dominic.)

The Sunday Talking Head line-up is ready for the reading.   Rep. Charlie Rangle officially has the most annoying green room of the day, having to share it with Howdy Doody Adam Putnam and Family Research Council president Tony Perkins.  That's enough to give anyone indigestion.  Some discussionon SCHIP, but not too many Bushies willing to go on television and defend Ebenezer's veto and "emergency room health care" plan.

What's catching your eye in the news and on the blogs this morning?

The only good thing about Tony Perkins is that he and his evangelical brothers are TRYING TO ‘ABORT’ RUDY’S CANDIDACY.

A little-known aspect of Bush's S-CHIP veto and the tangled webs of D.C. is this:

War-mongering beneficiary Halliburton actually owns a subsidiary, 'BABY BEDS', based in Bangladesh. Immediately before the S-CHIP veto, Dick-Head Cheney, in his arms-length 'Consultant' role to Halliburton, ordered all BABY BED U.S. sales representatives to fan out across the country, pushing it's line of bassinets, cribs, and cradles to all hospital emergency rooms. According to insiders, part of the sales pitch involved 'possible' federal funding for purchases to support emergency room care for children, and the VP's involvement, but this has not been confirmed.

So one's view of the veto depends upon one's point of view, for most of us, it's a national disgrace, for Washington insiders and the VP's 401K managers, it's an opportunity.

Oh ya, there is still an invasion/occupation going on!!!

Proofread/spell check...geez Just "treated" to a huge chunk of WJ being overtaken by Richard Land who at no time during his appearance was quizzed as to his position on the death penalty OR in vitro fertilization. I'd really love to know if his PRO-LIFE obsession extends into these issues???? Adam Putnam, huh...that little weasel will be dizzy by the time he finishes SPINNING today...

There's an MSNBC story about : The US embassy in Iraq is a great example of how things are going over there. Years behind, millions over cost, looks like crap, and squabbling galore. This falls in Condi's court. These people sure are great at political infighting (Condi rets rid of > Rummy gets rid of > Powell) but they suck ass at actually building things and making things work well.

OMG, I think I see the baby Jesus in that croissant and the Virgin Mary in that cappuccino!

What a disappointment that this Sunday's Talking Heads line-up doesn't include that fool, John Hagee, as a guest.

Those 'Jesus Camps' he runs, for those past puberty (they certainly can't be called 'adults'), would be hysterically funny, if the weirdos participating weren't taking themselves so seriously. It's a damned shame that Hagee is permitted to take advantage of such groups of mentally and intellectually-challenged folks, in a sane society, he and they would be confined to padded rooms until healed.

But clips of his 'services' would make great Sunday morning TV, the only things missing from his productions are the 'Snake Oil For Sale' sign on his 'pulpit', the cages of snakes with the tops off, and mattresses on the floor to make his flocks more comfy as they Holy Roll.

Pelosi is doing a decent job of responding to Wallace on FnS. Here answers aren't as direct as I might like, but good.

Right now, he's asking about her "Praying for Bush".

The greater Los Angeles DHS agency has finally taken steps to safeguard citizens.

In conjunction with the Emergency Broadcast Network, the Freeway Alert Sign Program, the L.A. Police and Sheriff's departments, and the folks who raise the flags on all municipal and federal building in the area, they are going to commence 'Lohan Alerts' now that Lindsey is out of rehab again, to advise/warn citizens whenever she decides to motor.

They only undecided question is what color alert and motif should be used on the flags, a public poll expressed preference for a pink pussy on a white background, with pink polka-dots.

"Do you pray for our troops to win?"

Why does anyone take this guy seriously as a journalist anywhere? Sorry, but I disagree with Bill Maher and others on this - Democrats really need to stop legitimizing that whole channel as a news outlet.

Also, I'm not sure about anyone else, but I noticed that Citgo sponsored it - at least through my affiliate (not sure if sponsors are different in different areas). Isn't Citgo the company owned by Venezuela? You know those horrible socialists?

I'm getting tired of Edwards not directly answering the questions on Meet the Press.

Dancer I was right there with you listening to Land. He spun his crap without a single challenge. Grrrr!

pelosi is having suck up hour with dope chris wallace
he's making sure she prays for dumbya
what do they have on this woman
now she's lying again about how congress can't end the war

Pelosi ended her FnS interview "praising" Newscorp for its push to be "carbon neutral". I bet most Fox Newz viewers were unaware of this hypocrisy. :)

Ok I had to turn it off. Pelosi kind of pissed me off by saying that they're holding hearings with intense oversight of administration officials and she wasn't sure what more they could do when it comes to changing the policy in Iraq.

First, holding hearings and doing nothing with that information to force change and what not aside from waiting for the administration officials to resign (and thus, not really face any consequences as we all know they'll go into a think tank, etc.), makes you seem a bit lame. Second, holding a vote everyday and shutting down the government UNTIL our Iraq policy is changed is exactly what should be done. Isn't that how the Republicans forced President Clinton's hand?

I'm really disappointed with Speaker Pelosi.

What's the word on Cindy Sheehan (or anybody) challenging Pelosi in the primary? She's been a huge disappointment.

I wish somebody would order an impeachment table from IKEA at Potomac Mills Mall and have it delivered to Pelosi's office.

I flipped through the stations, and came to my Sunday spiritual realization. Holy shit these political a-holes either:
a.....don't get it/have no gdamn clue
b.....are so damn corrupt, even Pelosi has corporate cash sticking out of her thong (gag)
c.....don't care
d.....all of the above

......."and the land of the freeeeeeeeeeeee....and the home of the corrupt."

Impeachment table? How bout their new wooden guillotine, with the very dull blade.

What I hate most about all these shows is that they have no substance or memory and are really just a platform for corps to ooze their BS propaganda about how america wins when we let them get as big as they wast to be with no regulation.

I can't remember the last time I saw a healthy, coherent, adult discussion on any of these shows.

I just noticed: Byron York and Bill Kristol (on FnS panel) Isn't wearing a flag pin (Juan is).

Add to that Chris Wallace (not wearing a flag pin.)

I'm not wearing a flag pin today either. Okay fessing up, I don't even own one. :-P

For whatever reason we didn't get the Sunday morning Fox show today. Yea! for our cable company.

Yes, but you probably didn't recently criticize Barack Obama for not wearing one. :)

The sheep watch for their weekly affirmation that everything is just hunky-doory.
If Russert or Stefanopolis(sp) really went after their guests, they would not get the Alpha-Pols to show up.

On MtP, they are talking about Rudy's change in position towards the NRA.

The phrase yet to be used by ANYONE in the MSM: "Flip-flop".

Carlson on MtP right after talking about Thompson's gaffes: "Thompson appeals to a certain type of Conservative voter."

Translation: "Thompson isn't a smart man... just like Ronald Reagan and George W. The Right likes dullards."

Do you realize what a fabulous idea this is? It doesn't have to be a full-sized Ikea table--how about dollhouse furniture? One of those cardboard fold-ups? Even a big photo of a table with "Impeachment" photoshopped across the tabletop? I'm starting my search now, leaning toward the dollhouse version.

"Do you pray for our troops to win?"

Seriously... WTF is that shit? It's clearly an underhanded way of pushing the meme "Democrats want our soldiers would lose".

Also, I'm not sure about anyone else, but I noticed that Citgo sponsored it - at least through my affiliate (not sure if sponsors are different in different areas). Isn't Citgo the company owned by Venezuela? You know those horrible socialists?

Citgo used to be a Texas oil company, but was bought out by the government of Venezuela in 1990. So while they're technically HQ'd in Houston, they very well get their orders from Venezuela.

One must never interrupt an opponent when he is making a mistake.

When Tim Russert interviews Repugs, does he spend the entire interview suggesting that he is a liar, as Tim just did with John Edwards this morning?

I don't know how any sane human being can watch Fox News Sunday.

I mean come on. Isn't there something else to do that could benefit the world in some small way then being polarized into these idiots game?

We need to reframe the issue of this and future presidential campaigns to say that whoever makes the most money is NOT the best candidate. That is how we need to judge the contenders so that we get a man/woman of the people by the people and for the people!
Same should go for the House and Senate!
You could toss about 95% of the "charmers" in DC and pull anyone off the street and they would do a better job.

I watch every Sunday. Funnier than Maher.

Richardson is up now on TW. I wish he was doing better in the polls.

STOP WATCHING Sunday News Shows, IT IS ALL TRASH. Start focusing on how we can rebuild our country, as the USA is surely DEAD at this period in time. Don't you get it folks!!!OUR COUNTRY IS DEAD!!!

Richardson is having an AWFUL time on TW, caught off guard giving some really poor answers.

And I thought Republicans were Drama Queens!

When we are only one President away from rehabilitation or image around the world and back on the path of promoting peace instead of war, I'd hardly call us "dead".

(that should read "rehabilitating our" image. Sorry.)

excellent point, and I wholeheartedly endorse the FRC and it's mission to undermine Rudy and his arrogantly presumptious campaign for Prez. He is underwhelmingly qualified to be Prez and he just wants to scare people into electing him. Well, it ain't gonna work, piano key mouth. Americans are tired of being frightened by Islamic boogeyman who are literally everywhere seemingly (the way you portray it) and want real leadership, from an adult: almost any of the Dems. this country has had it's image tarnished because of ill-advised and dangerously reckless foreign policy blunders, from a REPUBLICAN president, and Americans aren't going to re-elect another scaremonger-in-chief. we're tired of that crap. time for us to re-assert ourselves and take care of business. clinton, obama, biden, edwards, all would be better and more preferable to any Republican, at this time. yes.

George Will just had a great defense of Barack Obama's refusal to wear the flag lapel pin. Recommended as a video.

George Will?!?! Wow! O_o

So, David Broder on MTP this morning that Jimmy Carter ran for governor of Georgia as a segregationist! That struck me as sorta weird, so I googled it.

It took me all of three seconds to confirm that Mr. Broder is a lying sack of SH*T.

Just sayin'...

(IIRC) He said "The flag lapel pin can suggest only two things: Either, "I'm a patriot", and who's not these days, or "I'm more patriotic than you."

I forget exactly what he said, but he did go in about if for at least a minute.
