Ellen sickens me doing shows with the writers on strikes.

We need more strikes in this country. The workers are always under attack and we should just have two or three days where just everyone goes on strikes and shuts down the whole country. That's my dream. Workers bringing the entire nation to a halt would be the most beautiful thing in America's sick history. That's my dream in life - to one day see America's 400 years of oppression end with a workers revolution.

We have GOT to get the presidential debates out of the hands of cable networks and back into the hands of the League of Women Voters or some other non-corporate entity, and BACK to over-the-air networks.

People should not have to pay for cable TV in order to see the debates.

And people like W Blitzer and all the others, corporate people who have corporate agendas, should not be allowed anywhere near the candidates, let alone asking stupid, inane questions and not allowing candidates to indulge in REAL DEBATE.

I don't understand the dems strategy by witholding funding on the war. Does anyone believe that they will actually stick to their guns? That would be a political nightmare. I can see it now - CNN going out to Iraq, noting that the troops don't have enough fresh water to survive on. Endless stories about how the democrats are causing hardship to our troops, hospitals aren't being funded, a GI using a dirty cloth as a sling....

The dems are going to cut off funding for long enough such that they think they have all of us convinced that they really tried. Then they will fold like lawnchairs and Bush will get every penny he asked for.

And they don't really have much choice other than that either. They could not withhold money for long. They are going to take a solid beating from the media and republicans will play this to full advantage. Then when the dems fold, as they inevitably will do, they will look like weaklings.

It's lose-lose for dems in this battle, even though overall, I think Iraq is a losing strategy in the court of public opinion.

A true socialist party is what is needed in America. And even if a strong socialist party only gets a couple percent we could take those votes from the democrats and keep the republicans in power. And to tell you the truth I love having republicans in power because at least you don't have to defend them when they do bad things or pretend they are doing something. What have we got with dem leadership in the house and senate? Nothing! Thinking back it would have been better had the republicans kept control because they would be digging there own graves deeper and deeper.

I'm sorry, but after that debate last night - well, I've never been as angry or bitter. Seeing the corporate media just hand Hillary the nomination made me sick. It's time to just say - the hell with the democrats and to hell with the republicans.

They have both failed us and that's why I love blogs like this and Kos' because we can see through the lies. And we can criticize because we care about issues and not party names or the notion this sick horrible country is worth anything.

yes! there is no other country where Socialism could work so well and make so much sense for its citizens (expect the super rich of course).

What John Edwards said last night about "Corporate democrats and Corporate republicans" was great. Although, I will still vote for almost any Dem over a Republican these days. When our corrupt two party system is gone, I'll vote for a socialist or a green. Until then, I'm not going to delude myself into thinking any other vote would matter.

Clinton beats Guiliani in Missouri based on current polls. As a Missourian, this is big news. Missouri votes for the President every. single. time. Now, Hillary is not the best choice, or even a good choice, but at this point, anything better than Guiliani is good news.

I think that alot of what you see as us fighting against democrats is really fighting to point the Dems in the correct direction. Not sending them money when they capitulate to Republicant's is a correct thing to do, for instance.

I agree with that, to an extent.
If we didn't have this horrible two party system, we wouldn't be having this conversation. If the Repugs didn't vote with Bush on every single issue no matter what, this wouldn't be an issue. But I don't think it's worth it to spend our time criticizing/sanctioning the Democrats - what we need to be spending our time on is helping everyday Republican voters (Guiliani supporters) that they need to think. As long as Repugs are still getting half the vote, the Democratic party and it's supporters are not doing their jobs.

The Dems are in a difficult spot. They were elected in November to end the war, but on the other hand they don't want to be accussed of denying the support the troops need.

If they say "Enough is enough, we won't fund the war." Then they are backing their promise of ending it. But then the critics are going to say. You aren't supporting the troops by withdrawing funds. Either way they loose.

But what the Dems should start saying is. The Mission is accomplished, Hussein is out, a new government is in. It's time to go. We aren't there to be peace makers. That's not our role. The Arab League of Nations, the United Nations and the Iraqis themselves need to do their part.

The Dems need to head off any criticsm that we are running away or are loosers. Like I said they need to reiterate that Hussein is gone and no longer a threat to his neighbors, a new government is in place and our mission is done. It's not running away. We've done our part.

WTF's picture

OK. Here's something to think about. Before one starts raging and calling out the world as anti-semites, just take a look. Settle down. It could be wrong headed. It could be right on...something to chew on. But no one will say BOO. Guaranteed. Big fat elephants in tiny rooms are scary.

Excerpt:It is not just the Muslim world that hates our pro-Israel foreign policy, for sound reasons that it is unjust and cruel. Europeans and others around the world are contemptuous of America's slavelike obedience to a small foreign power. It has gotten to the point that to be seen as an ally of the United States is viewed negatively.

The Arab and Muslim people, with the exception of al-Qaeda, don't hate America or Americans. It is the pro-Israel foreign policy and, of course, our invasions of two Muslim countries that they hate. Virtually all of the anti-Arab and anti-Muslim propaganda generated in this country has its source in the Israeli lobby and in Israel itself.

Thanks to the unconstitutional largess of the cowardly Congress, Israel is a rich country and one of the world's leading military powers. It doesn't need American aid. It is time to quit dancing to the tune of a lobby with dual loyalties and to pursue America's interests.

Americans are being betrayed by their own politicians, and it's time to treat those scoundrels with the contempt they deserve.

Strikes are as much about maintaining a balance of power as they are about maintaining rights. Our system does not provide support for groups and individuals who are not represented (read someone to be reckoned with for whatever reason). As such, they're extremely important and should be used as necessary to maintain the position of the workers. Since we've been cowed so often in the last fifteen or so years by corporate interests, we should be striking every which way. They can't make anything without us. They can't do anything without us. If the transportation industry organized a massive strike, that'd be the end of a lot of crap, some with manufacturing or teachers or firemen. It happens all over the damn place in the rest of the world for the express purpose of reminding the people in power that they are there by consent, not god-given mandate.

And budda, in case you can't tell, I'd love to see that, too.

Well, personally I think the country worth saving. The only things good in the past were fought for by the previous generation. The whole idea of America is a continual soft revolution (there never was a "golden era" -- it's a myth)... we just got lazy, and think we shouldn't have to fight for a better future like everyone before us. We were wrong. So fascists, and the aristocracy gained ground.

Having said that, pure socialism as a form of government is insane in America. Promoting social concerns within our existing government makes sense... how about we start with making all the socialist ideas on the table work first? Communism... ha! Point to a great example as a model for America. Yeah, thought so. Communism is just a another way to better enable crooks. Russia will be back there soon, under the iron fist of Putin the dictator. How is that good for Americans?

There is 60% of the population out there that is too disgusted to even vote... that's enough to elect ANY candidate of your choice!

ROFL! Ok, I don't know how many hardcore geeks are here, but this had me actually spitting food it was so funny. I feel sorry for those that heard this live and actually though it true for a few seconds! If any Apple stockholders heard this I'm sure their hearts exploded...

From The Faux "Business" Channel:

ALEXIS GLICK: There's some news coming across the tape right now. We're seeing from Wall Street Journal that Apple is buying an 8 percent stake in AMD."

PETER BARNES: "The big chip maker, yup. And AMD and Intel battle back and forth, and so this is a very significant statement by Apple, Charles and Liz, is it not, that it's going to buy in to AMD, pick one of the two?"
[one-year charts of Apple Inc and AMD]

CONTRIBUTOR CHARLES PAYNE: "Well, yeah, and AMD needs, uh - that's real smart by Apple because AMD is in trouble right now. AMD has always had two problems: either it had a great product that was either sometimes superior to Intel but not the distribution, or it would have a terrible product that obviously they couldn't compete. And they're sort of in the middle right now - they haven't had great product offerings per se recently, the stock has been really just sort of muddling along, so I gotta tell you, Peter, I think it's a smart play by both companies to get involved with each other."

BARNES: "And we are getting some more news [inaudible]"

GLICK: "That, oh, it's not Apple. Let me just correct ourselves here. It is not Apple. [cross talk] Alright, I'm sorry, we got a little ahead of ourselves here on that. Um, Apple Dubai? Abu Dubai." [sic]

BARNES: "Oh, the Arabs. Ok."

GLICK: "Oh, ok, there we go. [Laughs] We thought it was Apple! We got so excited about it!"

In fact, as the Financial Times reported hours earlier, it was Abu Dhabi--not Apple and not a mysterious new pan-Arabian country apparently called Abu Dubai--that bought the stake in AMD. But Barnes stuck to his guns about that new country When he reported the story again at 9:40a, the AMD buyer was still Abu Dubai.

(Abu Dhabi is a city in U.A.E)

If Faux News is "blare and unbalanced", the supposed business channel has GOT to be "dumb and dummer!"

HA! "Apple Dhabi"! "Oh the Arabs buying stuff... well, never mind then, that's not news..." Man, what fools...

Now that the super-rich are engaged in a competition of multi-storied yachts, will it be long before we see twenty, thirty, fifty, perhaps 100-storied behemoths cruising the seven seas?

And while we peons argue about whether 35 or 50 or 65 mpg should be the target for our Hondas and VW's, these babies suck up thousands of gallons on 100-mile trips. And get tax breaks for the purchase of their yachts, and the gasoline or other fuel used on their 'business excursions'.

Whoever said 'Life ain't fair', sure knew his sh*t .

Right, a strike for residuals. I don't think most workers in the past went on strike to make money on something they already made money on. I know of no one in my life that gets residuals so I could care less about further enriching people who already made money on their work. If you don't work in the entertainment industry do you get residuals for your work? I think not. Please don't lump the striking writers with striking workers of the past. This is entitlement striking, an affliction only affecting the entertainment industry. And to further this stupidity why aren't they going on strike for money to be put in a pot for medical benefits for those writers that aren't able to get coverage because they aren't selling their writing. No that would benefit the whole WGA and this strike is about those few who need to sustain their luxury lifestyle. Joss can kiss my ass.

Whilst?

That was a good one.

I had to google up that story, and there's video of it too.

Why is there 8-15 chemtrails in the sky at any one time here in Ky. More then I have ever seen before. Raw story did 1 story after 2+ years, Where is MSM on this? Are people in general so dumbfounded they believe everything done by the govt is for the good of all. If the gov't is so GDGood why do they bring cocaine into this country, then turn around and arrest those that are selling it on the street. This story has been public knowledge since the story of Gary Webb broke it in the 90's.

good morning dennis , while i havent seen redacted yet and i will when it comes out , the goober who reviewed the film is delushional, it doesnt make any difference if it was a film about the us marines ,it was based on an actual crime by these guys in iraq, the marines pump so much shit into thier recruits heads in boot camp that they think thier invinciable but its still only bullshit , thier are misfits in every branch of the services and this film just happens to be on the marines , it takes a viciouse prick to murder civillians just so they can rape a young child, its not the first time americans have murdered innocent civillians or raped its victims , and just because the victims are iraqys doesnt mean they arent human beings , this cretin who revied redacted went into that showing of the film with his mind allready made up that it was garbage, that thier are americans that condone such behavior in our troops is sick, i was talking to the nice young lady across the street from my house about that incident and she thought it was a shame thoes boys were being court marshalled for what they did , i asked her how shed feel if some iraqy troops were occupying our country and did that to her daughter , she said shed try to kill them, but she said the iraqys were just sandni gers , the brain washed !

I see both side's viewpoints. tyree. Just not sure the movie is a great idea right now. Conservatives are probably better off not making a big deal of it, to be honest.

I'm well aware of the bigotry in your area. What bothers me the most is how they use terms like you say this lady called Iraqis in their everyday converations. Most of the time they don't even look around to see if anyone who might be offended is even in earshot, or lower their voice if there is. It's sad.
But I still don't think we need this type of movie to drive the point home that such ugliness exists in our military.

Okaaaaay.

So you support the writers?

You call yourself fans?

Are you still supporting the bosses who are sticking it to the writers?

Who are trying to steal every single station and newspaper in America?

Who are trying to steal the internet itself, using the money YOU GIVE THEM?

CANCEL YOUR TV SUBSCRIPTIONS.

Show them that money talks.

Just do it.

Ok."

The Democratic Party realizes the stupid things they have done to loose public support and intend to turn that around this next election.

Remember Terry Shivo, the women who was a vegetable were the Republican Party made America stand still and debated about who has the right to pull the plug. Should the family have the right to decide this very personal issue or should Congress decide? Days and weeks of discussion about one issue and one family in terms of health care and it’s termination or perpetuation. It took the Judicial to enforce the family decision and make the Republican controlled Congress step aside. Talk about big government and ironically were Republicans always say they support less government. What a laugh.

Today, the discussion for millions of young children hang in the balance for health care needs and Republicans and the president claim too much unnecessary spending is the reason to veto this measure. I don’t know much about this health care measure but wonder how many Terry Shivo types would be covered under this plan? I believe the Democrats are illustrating that differential and total lack of good governing the Republicans display declining to over ride Bush’s veto. It seems reasonable to me even if over spending on health care did happen it could be revised and trimmed back to a reasonable working solution, just as the realization that the prescription drug plan can be revised. Building health care is building a strong America and simply to cast a hard rejection and completely disregard millions of innocent children is the most disgusting, pitiful, mind any leadership could have.

Vote Democratic 2008.
