Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has made what may be the most terrifying announcement in Donald Trump's presidential career -- Elon Musk will soon play a major role in the United States military.

Pentagon Pete's announcement came during his "State of the Force" address yesterday afternoon, in which he confirmed that the former DOGE head and onetime trillionaire would be joining former Speaker of the House Newt Grinich and right-wing extremist entrepreneur Palmer Luckey to head up "Project Meridian" -- a monumental upcoming study surrounding the "future of warfare."

In his speech, the Defense Secretary called the troubled trio "the best forecasters of future conflict."

There are obvious biases and risks to asking ourselves to both ask the questions and answer them. So today we are leveraging a unique source of American advantage—one our adversaries do not have: our innovators, our senior leaders, and our technologists. Big thinkers and doers who will forecast the creative solution to tomorrow’s conflicts. And that’s why today … I’m announcing Project Meridian, an effort led by America’s best minds to study the future of warfare.

Musk and his partners are slated to work with private-sector leaders, various experts, and former Uber vice president turned Pentagon chief technology officer Emil Michael to "creatively look to the future and identify the domains we must conquer."

Ole Whiskey Pete promised, "Project Meridian will ruthlessly map the trajectory of wars, domains, and technologies to ensure this War Department, your War Department, dominates the future."

God help us all.
