Today is the anniversary of the birth of the late great Bill Hicks. Hard to find a rant of his that is safe for work. This kinda sorta comes close but he will drop the F-bombs like no one else. That's what made him special.
Open thread below....

The Greatest.
I'm pretty good at dropping the f-bombs myself. I've fucking cleaned it up since I started posting here since I got fucking ragged on for it and didn't want to fucking bother with those prissy fucking motherfuckers (other posters, not the site mods :) ).
And don't even get me started on the word that begins with 'c'...
the wind is blowing so hard in upstate ny. scary.
Hicks is the gold standard
...more than words can say. I saw him at the Laffstop in Austin way back in the day.
That vid is a bit tame. Here's one of my favorite rants about Rush Limpbaugh:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pg2_MntkMzg
"Rush is a scat muncher."
Tonight on MSNBC they had an FBI agent trained in psychopathy analyzing Charles Manson. They showed many clips from a Manson interview. Try to watch it - Manson’s facial expressions, phrasings, way of speaking is a dead ringer for the President in Thief.
Someone with great editing skills should put together a video showing the similarities.
That's what made him SPECIAL?!! THAT"S WHAT MADE HIM SPECIAL? !!! What made him "special" was his ability to make you laugh and then have him pour caster oil down your throat while your gaping ugly mouth was as wide as the grand canyon. Caster oil being the truth, which is ACTUALLY the "Special" part. It wasn't his outrageousness in topic or choice of profanity that was sooooo special. It was his ability to chemically induce you with his thoughts to then allow other thoughts you might never have had or were too defensive to think; creep or SLAM into your consciousness.
F bombs made him special.... What an ode to a psychological saint you created in that worthless caption...
Lets see if the message board can do a better ode to Bill...
It's called irony and satire, Mr. J. Kinda like your moniker. Bill Hicks would have appreciated both. Thanks for your passion. Start blogging at your own blog about Hicks, send me your url, I'll be glad to check it out. - BG

On yesterday's thread, in the midsts of a debate I started, I listed out the enumerated powers delegated to the federal government in the Constitution. Today, I thought I'd list out the Constitutionally enumerated rights we retain. It's a strikingly modest list, making the Ninth Amendment crucial for protecting basic civil liberties.
ENUMERATED RIGHTS
Liberties
• Free exercise of religion
• Free speech
• Free press
• To peaceably assemble
• To keep and bear arms
Privileges and Entitlements
• To choose representatives and senators
• To have contracts enforced
• To file writs of habeas corpus
• To petition the government for a redress of grievances
• To due process of law
• To speedy, public, jury trials where you may...
• • • confront witnesses against you
• • • compel witnesses in your favor
• • • have the assistance of legal counsel
• To the equal application of state laws to visitors as to residents
• To the equal protection of the laws
Immunities
• From bills of attainder
• From ex post facto laws
• From established religion
• From forced quartering of soldiers in homes
• From unreasonable searches and seizures
• From self-incrimination
• From double jeopardy
• From excessive bail / cruel and unusual punishment
• From slavery
FORCE CONGRESS TO IMPEACH. Call Nancy Pelosi @1-202-225-0100 and DEMAND IMPEACHMENT. WE can't solve our trajic and deadly problems with George and Dick in office.
This thread is about Bill fucking Hicks.... Stay the fuck out unless you're paying homage directly to him or at least tie his ass into whatever off the cuff constitutional bullshit we DONT HAVE ANYMORE
jesUS @ 10:
It's a fucking open thread. All fucking topics are good.
miss_kitty @ 11:
Well MOST fucking topics, anyway.
jesUS @ 11:
Wow.
If we're gonna have open threads, put a picture of a great big asshole on the top. That way people know to just SHIT whatever thoughts you have onto the forum....
Don't fuck off the birthday of a great comic philosopher for your own greeedy talking points
He was a good comedian but he does have one thing wrong. We were not apes for billions of years. In the 6 billion years of the earth mammals didnt come around until at least a billion years or so ago. For the first 3-4 billion years there was bacteria and then fish...
jesUS @ 15:
I've never actually tried fucking off the birthday of anyone. How are the orgasms?
And if you have any doubt as to how simply to shit out whatever incoherent thoughts you have, just think to yourself, "what would jesUS do?" :)
'Oldest human being' dies at 116 They always die. The title's jinxed, I swear!
"As to how simply to..." ...

Hicks was one of the best, I got to see him in Las Vegas once and he tore down the house.
The tranist authority in Chicago SUCKS, 3 inches of snow and it took me a 1 and a half hours to go 3 miles and no taxis.
Can Jesus take two different threads in the same comment?
The world waits.
Stanley Rosenthal @ 8:
What is this, Stan? Whether I click or download, I only get a 2-second audio and an incomplete sentence.
Maybe you're getting cut off, my friend Karen, but the audio is Rush Limbaugh saying this complete sentence: "I don't believe (in) open-mindedness."
Stanley Rosenthal @ 23:
Oh, it's Rush? Hee hee. I didn't hear "in," which I guess, given your use of parentheses isn't actually there. I didn't recognize the voice. So, I thought maybe there was more to it.
I get it now. ;)
"Unspoken words were understood" - Red Hots
Check out the LNMC tonight Karen, I kind've posted a song 4U ...
Stanley Rosenthal @ 25:
:) Not sure why it'd be my song, but hey, it does have provocative lyrics I've always enjoyed.
By the way, Stan, have you heard the theme song for Julia Sweeney's Letting Go of God?
Hicks is one of the few comedians I have deep respect for. Him and Rodney Dangerfield (interesting combo, I know).
And someone named Janeane, but that's an entirely different story.
He was just about to become huge at the time of his death.
One more pisser for America.
No Karen, I hadn't heard that before.
For some odd reason it reminds me of that tune Weird Al pardied titled Complicated.
McCain wins Lieberman endorsement -- is this a joke???

"I think that drugs have done some good things for us. If you don't believe that, do me a favor - go home tonight, take all your albums, all your cds and fucking burn 'em. Because all those musicians that have made all that music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years ...? REAL FUCKIN' HIGH ON DRUGS."
"You believe the Earth is 5000 years old? Ok, I have a question. It's a one-word question : 'Dinosaurs?'"
RIP Bill, you are missed more than ever.
Ron Paul raised Six Million+ dollars today.
I think Bill Hicks would approve.
Hicks is one of the greats. He is missed very much.
Generals are sugar-coating Iraq and Afghanistan.
Global warming (and possible water wars) affect the Rio Grande. More Congressional members are getting infuriated by Tapegate.
Jason @ 31:
Normal Bob Smith is an atheist artist/comic who also poses the dinosaurs question. He receives plenty of hate mail for his work, which he happily posts on his website. On one particularly funny page of hate mail, someone promised an "amazingly anatomically accurate rendering" of a dinosaur depicted on the wall of a cave. This rendering was supposed to prove that dinosaurs and humans coexisted. You have to see it to understand just how desperate old-earth-creationists can get when trying to maintain their beliefs. It's hilarious.
Congrats to Mr. Paul for raising all that money.
Even though I disagree with Mr. Paul on most issues, I think I must commend him for using the resourses available to him.
BTW: Sam Seder is subbing for Randi Rhodes this next week, check him out.
snoozer @ 30:
Joe LIEberman, co-author of the infamous Lie-and-then-Kill amendment, endorses John McInsane? Heh, why the fuck not? I believe it. :)
From the cited article:
Well that makes perfect sense. McInsane actually did win the New Hampshire primary in 2000 -- you know, by being the non-authoritarian, campaign finance reform, common sense Republican. Did that propel him into later races? Not exactly. But it did earn him a Rovian push poll asking whether people would vote still vote for him if they knew he had fathered an illegitimate black baby (which, of course, he hadn't). And what did Maverick McInsane do? Call his opponentsthe scum that they are? Nah. He decided that if he couldn't beat them, he'd join them, and go batshit himself.
Now, newly dipped in scum (and imploding for it), he apparently thinks that New Hampshire's libertarian-minded independents will just love Joe LIEberman.
Hmmmm, you know....maybe this is a joke after all. :)
Hey!! Watch your Fucking language.
I finished watching Meet the Press, Mitt Romney was the guest - a true religious christian [or whatever, mormon or such]. Without a doubt the most dishonest man running for president. Tim Russert really tore him a new a$$hole. Here are something he didn't catch:
GOV. ROMNEY: Well, the decision about running for president was one that I made entirely by myself, and I got a lot of advice from a lot of people, some solicited, some not solicited, as you might imagine. And the decision was made by my sons and daughters-in-law and my wife and myself in December of last year.
What is it you clown?

and we could therefore promote people in business, in, in secular life, not based upon what they believed, or even based upon the color of their skin--ultimately it took us a while to figure that one out--or their gender or their sexual orientation, we would promote people in our society based on their ability and that has made all the difference in the world. We lead the world because of that, that power and greatness associated with that recognition.
You done a good job Brownie
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
But each law that was brought to my desk attempted to expand abortion rights and, in each case, I vetoed that effort. I also promoted abstinence education in our schools. I vetoed an effort, for instance, to give young women a morning after pill...
Was that abstinence or abstinence ONLY?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
These are embryos, these are, in your mind--words, human beings because they are--as life begins at conception, and these are surplus embryos from in vitro clinics that are used for research. They are destroyed. Do you still support that?
GOV. ROMNEY: I, I have the same position--------------------to provide these embryos, as some call them, snowflake babies to allow them to be adopted by others and to be implanted and become human beings.
If they are human beings at conception, why give them a chance to become human beings?
APPALLING to say the least
The brits appreciated Bill much more than us americans. Even honored him in parliament.
On February 25, 2004, British MP Stephen Pound tabled an early day motion titled "Anniversary of the Death of Bill Hicks" (EDM 678 of the 2003-04 session), the text of which was as follows:
That this House notes with sadness the 10th anniversary of the death of Bill Hicks, on 26th February 1994, at the age of 32; recalls his assertion that his words would be a bullet in the heart of consumerism, capitalism and the American Dream; and mourns the passing of one of the few people who may be mentioned as being worth of inclusion with Lenny Bruce in any list of unflinching and painfully honest political philosophers.
Hmm the quote from miss kitty @ post #2 didn't come through.
Oh well, what the fuck.
Miss ya Bill. You were the best.
At least the Saudi chick has been saved.
I simply couldn't resist. Straight from MSNBC:"One maverick due to get behind another on Monday." By the way. that's McCain and Lieberman. Apparently Lieberman is going to be the "top" guy.
It would be awesome to hear bill's take on todays insanity
It would not be much different from what he was saying then...
He was and is right...
One of the greatest (Angry) prophets in the last 1000 years no doubt...
Happy Birth Day Bill...

COMPROMISE REACHED AFTER U.S. IS REBUKED
"Bush administration officials, who fought vigorously to keep mentions of specific emissions targets out of the document, said they were pleased with the result.
The agreement will guide negotiators in their quest to produce an accord outlining how deeply industrialized countries should cut their emissions from 2012 to 2016, after commitments made under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol expire. The United States never accepted that pact.
"If you cannot lead, leave it to the rest of us. Get out of the way," declared Kevin Conrad, Papua New Guinea's ambassador for climate change.
While the Bush administration made some concessions, it also scored a key victory by eliminating explicit language calling on industrialized countries to cut emissions 25 percent to 40 percent compared with 1990 levels by 2020, a high priority for the European Union."

The Nation: During his 2006 reelection campaign, Lieberman emphasized that he would support Democratic candidates in 2008. "I want Democrats to be back in the majority in Washington and elect a Democratic president in 2008," he said during a televised debate in July. Lieberman promptly backtracked after his reelection, announcing this January that he was "open" to supporting a Republican or Democrat for president, depending "on a whole range of issues." By not even waiting to see who the Democrats nominate, now Lieberman is revealing that the issues aren't important to him, either.

He was the best, end of story...always been a great regret that I never got the chance to see him live. Would love to know what he thought about what's going on today, although I already have a pretty damn good idea
Bill Hicks is greatly missed :(
Another great Texan Ron Paul raised $6+ million yesterday alone, taking his money to 18.1 million for the 4th quarter with time still to spare, MSM are mostly ignoring it, will C&L be putting up a story on this history making news ? he's beaten John Kerrys record.

andy @ 56:
How can you even put the idea of Bill Hicks with Ron Paul in the same message?
They were dimetrically opposed in there views of the world.
Are you the same fella who suggested that Frank Zappa would reserve his vote for Ron Paul?
Peace be with you Bill, a man way ahead of his time. He saw through the Bullshit of the STATE, and the STATISTS (a lot of them comment here) and brought a message forward in a talented, creative and hilarious manner.
Peace and Love....
natisman @ 59:
Its called spamming. Hicks has tons of material about spammers, marketing, and other suckers of satan's cock.

ago.

check out this humorous progressive anti-hillary site
I learned more listening to Bill Hicks than those 4 years of college history/political/social classes.
natisman @ 59:
Frank Zappa was a conservative, he was also a staunch constitutionalist, a'la Ron Paul, Bill Hicks wasnt a democrat either, he saw through all the left right BS, he hated the clintons.
Im not a spammer either, this is an open thrad i was merely adding to it.
Thanks for the vid.
I wonder if Hicks got his theory from Terence McKenna's "Stoned Ape Theory."
http://users.lycaeum.org/~sputnik/McKenna/Evolution/
Here's the kicker though, some of the population enjoyed the new mushroom diet and the enhanced perception, while others became fearful at the very jungle around them and all the things they were now noticing.
That initial split is still evident in homosapiens today.
the truth doesn't change.
He joked about Bush and how the war was a Joke.
He joked about how the media kept people stupid and misinformed.
He joked about mediocrity in American Culture, from evolution debates to American Gladiators.
Guess which retarded reality show they're bringing back for 2008?
A couple of my favorite Bill Hicks quotes:
Freelancer @ 69:
Man, were this Digg, I'd digg that up a thousand fucking times.
Bravo, sir (or madam).
Bill Hicks, unlike Lewis Black, is hilarious!
I love this guy.
Coolness for your fevered brow.
please excuse my drunkenly poignant, yet misguided rants. I feel like Bill on this night to a lesser degree. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PdKpR9qNtg
I would like to start a blog just like this one... .If anyone has any info regarding best blog program be it wordpress etc., I would very much appreciate any info. I'm also not sure about the legality of hosting network video in regard to copyrights either. So a point in the right direction, some gerber baby food, or a healthy "fuck you" will suffice.
Thanks
Greatest. Ever.
I'm actually doing a paper for school about Hicks. Does anyone know of any other comedian besides Hicks that was cut completely out of a late-night show since that incident?
Hicks + Carlin are my favorites. Especially like Hicks "Sane man"..it never seizes to be funny.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Hicks.
Thank you.
Kick ass! I nominate Blue Girl for blogger of the year.
Bill Hicks approves of this message.
Some of god's mushrooms elevate your conscience, and others drop you dead. So much for the divine purpose theory. Magic mushroom spores fall from outer space, without a doubt.
andy @ 69:
Mr Andy, what you say about Frank Zappa is true but that doesn't make him a libertarian in the same mold as Ron Paul. Ron Paul would most certainily be counter to everything Zappa wrote about. listen to Trouble coming every day and equate that with a liberatarian view of the world.
With your reasoning for endorsing Ron Paul, I can surely say that Bill Hicks, Frank Zappa, Attilla the Hun, Thomas Jefferson and Yogi Bear are definately in favor of Dennis Kuchinich.
See that was easy for me to do, but what did it accomplish?
natisman @ 84:
I think out of all the candidates Zappa probably would line up best with Ron paul due to his small government/pro constitution stances, go watch the hardfire interview, he wanted the government out of his business and didn't want them sticking there noses into issues such as censoring lyrics etc, this is exactly what Ron Paul is preaching, small government and the right to determine what you do in the privacy of you're on home.
I never actually said Bill Hicks would vote for ron paul, just because i mentioned them in the same post doesn't mean anything, but again Bill Hicks said a lot of things that would line up with Pauls policies , particularly his anti war stance, and most definatly the good Dr's stance on pot :)
