Talking Points Memo: What, exactly, is Bill Clinton supposed to have said that is so 'venomous?'
'Just World News' with Helena Cobban: Gaza scenarios
I really WANT to know --- I read the papers...I see TV....and I have not seen anything that Bill Clinton has said that is venomous? Obama sneaks in the race card. He accuses Bill Clinton and the press picks it...Bill Clinton has said absolutely nothing venomous.
Beltzer last night on Bill Maher says "WELL ONLY 10% OF WHITES IN SC WOULD VOTE FOR OBAMA."
That's because they think Hillary or Edwards is a better candidate and have the know But 80% of blacks say they will vote for him...just because he is black. Now what is more racist than that. The blacks can vote for Obama just because he is black, but a white can't vote for Hillary or Edwards because they think they are a better candidate.
I'll tell you one thing, Obama playing the underhanded way of race is the one who is going to get blown out of the water. Maybe there are more blacks registered to vote in SC. But the racist game they are playing is going to send more and more whites out to vote. And it is sad. Obama who wants to be the king, has started something that is again dividing this country. AND THE STUPID BUTTS WHO SUPPORT HIM SAY HE WILL BRING US TOGETHER. YEAH...BUDDY.
Does anyone besides me want this campaign season to be over? It seems kind of sad that every morning I look foward to watching C-span rather than look at the blithering idiots on MSM. Many things in this country are going unnoticed. Bush is going to ride out his destructive presidency in imunity. It severly pisses me off.
The "Gaza scenarios" post by Helena Cobban was a more than a little optimistic, and I think the author is in more of a celebratory mood due to the Palestinians tweaking the Israelis' noses than a mood to remember the history between Gaza (pre-1967) and Egypt. I strongly doubt public sentiments towards the Palestinians have changed much in Egypt since then, and Egyptian influence over Gaza, if the breaching of the border does indeed lead to that, will make the Israeli hand seem positively nurturing by comparison.
We'll see. I could be wrong. But I would caution against any notions of monolithic Muslim or Arab solidarity guaranteeing brotherly treatment of the Palestinians by the Egyptians.
The problem and the question of race and gender is caused by the media injecting us with it. To settle the issue, why not vote for the one that is truely being discrimated against. S.C.vote Edwards.
Ron @ 4:
I'd love to see Edwards with a landslide victory, even if for nothing more than to hear the MSM sputter and stutter about how they could be so wrong. Ain't gonna happen, but I can dream:-)
ConcernedCanuck @ 5:
I also believe, of the 3, he would be most effective in making the changes we need in this country. We need to take our government back from the control of corporations and give it to "WE THE PEOPLE."
At last report, Senator John McCain has not yet decided whether to support Senator Larry Craig's proposed resolution declaring that the ABC network exhibits 'A strong anti-Republican Party bias'.
Upon learning that the ABC network was defending itself against a $1,000,000 penalty imposed by the FCC for showing nudity in a prime time TV show by declaring 'Buttocks are not a sexual organ', Senator Craig reportedly 'Flew into a tizzy'.
Marge @ 1:
I agree that the Bill Clinton hasn't been saying anything racist, or pushing race as an issue at all. When I watch the coverage of this on the news channals, what I see is a lot of people talking about how he's stirring up trouble, but we don't get any relevent clips, direct quotes, or any sort of evidence. And when you do see a clip (after a week of hearing other people's opinions of it) you're left going "That's it?"
If Obama's losing white support in S.C., I think it's a mix of racism (though not spurred on by the Clintons), and because people aren't appreciating how Obama supporters are calling racism over things that clearly aren't. That alienates people, and they resent it. That said, I don't think Obama himself has played the race card, or claimed that the Clintons are using race as a tactic - it's his overzealous, overly defensive supporters that are hurting him.
On black people voting for Obama because he's black: I don't see anything wrong, there. Edward's is really at a disadvantage here, because most people do not follow politics avidly. They might watch some news, maybe a cursory google search on some of the candidates. Maybe watch parts of some of the debates and some soundbites, and what they're going to gather from those sources is that there are three candidates running who all basically want the same things, may have some slightly different strategies and histories but in the end the platforms are nearly identicle (from the average voter's POV). And so they feel free/tempted to "make history", and they vote accordingly.
All the problems we're having with race and gender are caused by 'god's' lack of foresight.
A lot of the questions about the Democratic candidates would be resolved if Hillary underwent a sex-change operation, Barack bathed in Michael Jackson's face cream, and John Edwards inherited a major stock interest in the companies that own the MSM.
The best (and only) weapon we have against 'terrorists' is the adoption of a sane foreign policy.
One that does it's best to treat all peoples as we would like to be treated.
Which is a radical departure from our current arrogant world posture.
And would require election of moral leadership.
Which is antithetical to the cretins which currently claim that position.
One thing Bill Clinton said that drove the CrazyChristianEvangelicalFundamentalists up the wall was
'It depends on what the meaning of 'Jizz', 'Is''.

Chuck Norris Charity Cheat: I'm Guilty
HOUSTON (AP) — The former chief executive of Chuck Norris' martial arts program for inner-city children has pleaded guilty to stealing from the charity, the U.S. Attorney's office said.
James D. Brasher, 47, pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of uttering a forged security, the office said in a statement.
Brasher confessed to opening bank accounts in names similar to that of Norris' Kick Drugs Out of America Foundation. He then fraudulently endorsed checks sent to the foundation and deposited them into his own accounts, using the money to pay his debts and living expenses.
He admitted taking at least $130,000, DeGabrielle said.
Brasher is set to be sentenced in April. He faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and a three-year-term of supervised release.
Norris established the foundation, nicknamed Kickstart, in 1990 to use martial arts to help children avoid the temptations of gangs and drugs. According to the charity's Web site, Kickstart serves 5,000 youngsters in 38 schools in the Houston and Dallas areas.
