whats up with the cheap queer shot at Anderson? so who cares who the dude sleeps with it, hate that crap

what about Sen. Lindsay Graham (creeeeak) as a lady-in-waiting?....not that there's anything wrong with that

Let's petition France to take it's guillotine out of mothballs and send to us.

CHRISTIAN SCHOOL FOUNDER BUSTED FOR SOLICITING SEX FROM A PARENT!

Bet y'all $100 he's a Republican.

John McCain looks like Burger King. Well, anyway we know what happened to Marie Antoinette and the rest of that gang, don't we? Also, you forgot to put King George in this picture. Wheres Hillary ?

That's an entirely different tableau with Barack Obama as Sydney Carton and Hillary Clinton as Madame DeFarge. BTW, agree with Dennis that cheap shots against gays spoil the impact.

Dennis @ 7:

Technically, it would be the transgendered aspect of the picture that draws the attention. Not only does the juxtaposition of genders on one person remain a staple of comedy in our culture, but otherwise progressive blogs sometimes take jabs at political opponents by noting that his/her mannerisms or appearance do not conform to what society expects of his/her birth sex. It bothers me too, though I'm often told to lighten up when I mention it.

Ass-u-me, or in this case ass-u-Anderson.

From GLAAD media guide:

Queer
Traditionally a pejorative term, queer has been appropriated by some LGBT people to describe themselves. Some value the term for its defiance and because it can be inclusive of the entire LGBT community. Nevertheless, it is not universally accepted even within the LGBT community and should be avoided unless quoting someone who self-identifies that way.

Homophobia comes out of the closet where the ironic board is stored, lol.;-}

Never thought I'd agree with Dennis. I don't get it? Is Cooper Anderson a shill for McCain?

The Corporate Media has shilled for the Republican party (and its own short term economic interests) ever since the elimination of of the Fairness Doctrine and Bill Clinton's telecommunications act. Except for a very few notable exceptions, talking heads do what their Corporate paymasters tell them to do, Cooper is no exception.

Just take a look at how the Corporate Media is covering the incomes of the candidates, CNN is giving McCain a free pass attempting to paint him as one of us by excluding his wife's income:

CNN chart purporting to compare candidates' "wealth" omitted Cindy McCain, who is reportedly worth $100 million

Iraq war memorial is too small for all the current and future names...

Its going to be modular and expandable to fit in with McInsanes hundred year war vision,

"think outside the box and think Lego (tm)" said a flushed walleted spokesperson for the sculpture company.

According to ABMC spokesperson Charles Masterson, ground was first broken for the memorial on the National Mall in May 2003, shortly after President Bush declared the end of major combat operations in Iraq. Since the completion of the preliminary monument, however, nearly two dozen extensions have been added to the original structure to properly commemorate subsequent casualties in the conflict.

raw story article

John Cusack was on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher and spoke about his upcoming film, War. Inc., which according to Cusack focuses on the military-industrial complex.

i'd wager even george h.w., james baker 3 & bob gates ALL hate the rothschilds.

billy simpson @ 97-

I'm a Michigander who voted for "uncommitted" in January, and if I could have, I'd have voted for Edwards. If we held another primary tomorrow, I'd probably vote for Obama.

But it's Obama's supporters in our Congress who won't sign on to a new primary. They see something that you don't: without Detroit- or, more realistically, without the support of the scandal-ridden Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, who controls the political machine there, Obama would stand a good chance at suffering a defeat here. Possibly an ugly defeat. He might squeak out Wayne County, but Oakland and Macomb Counties (almost certainly the latter) would most probably go to Clinton. Obama might take Livingston County (Ann Arbor) and the Lansing area, Kent County(Grand Rapids) would be a toss up, as I think would Kalamazoo County, but the backwards-ass rural north of the state would definitely go to Clinton.

So don't blame her for playing it smart and keeping her name on the ballot earlier, and don't blame her for our lack of a real primary.

But you can blame the GOP- both the former Governor, John Fucking Engler and the current asshat in the White House- for laying the foundations for our economic plight and then making sure it doesn't get fixed. That's what forced us to move our primary up: we wanted our problems addressed, and we wanted to have a wide array of candidates to address those problems, not the two candidates that we usually get by the time our primay has rolled around in the past.

I'm glad to see that disappearing post wasn't just in my imagination. Where did it go?

If i am not mistaken if Michigan had another primary all the Republicans could vote as well and since they have a presumptive nominie they could vote for the Democratic Candidate Least Likely To Succeed.

Am i right?

chris- did you go back into the archives about three years and dig up my Baron Thurlow quote? Damn! It's good to see someone else who knows it!

C'mon, now...Where's the Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad link?

It would be good, i think, to have all the Primaries on the same day. It would make the whole process a lot less like a chess game and a lot more like Democracy.

Amen to that. And while they're at it get rid of the ridiculously undemocratic superdelegates.

Yes! McGovern got nominated and lost so they decided to take democracy out of the process. What a great idea!

Nope. It would have been Democrats only. On the ballots, that is- open to all voters, funded privately. You don't have to register one way or the other to vote in our primaries. You had to in '88, iirc, but that law was shot down.

And if your point is that Republicans would show up and vote for Clinton, I could make the argument that they'd vote for Obama, thinking him the beatable candidate in November.
