Happy 5th Anniversary to Living Liberally!
Another reminder, author Mark Crispin Miller will be here tomorrow to discuss his new book, Loser Take All: Election Fraud and The Subversion of Democracy, 2000 - 2008, starting at 11:00 am Pacific/2:00 pm Eastern. He has plenty of cautionary tales that we need to take heed of as we head into the general election race. This is not a conversation to be missed. See you there!

Dunkin’ Donuts’ New Slogan: ‘We Still Have Trans Fats, But No Ara-Fats’

Since the Carlyle acquisition, it's looking more like Dumbkin Do Nuts.
Obama has to distance himself from another pastor, just because he was right about Hillary. Food prices are expected to go up 9% every year until the end of the world on the Mayan calendar. Rice tries to throw Scottie under the bus. The White House finally acknowledges global warming. A lawyer claims that the feds are trying to get around due process for Gitmo detainees in order to help McCain win.
Clintonistas hate representational votes. Employers are shifting to 4-day work weeks to help employees save gas.

My recent non-exisitence here, is because my dad died yesterday morning. Don't feel bad about it (and don't worry about sending your condolences, I will consider it as "unspoken words were understood" (Red Hots)), as he was suffering pretty much for the last year. But still it's quite a shock. And I'll probably be pretty silent for the next few days, but I plan on a music dedication on my blog, probably tonight whilst I have some spare time.
But here's what I want to point out that I haven't noticed being pointed out about the Dunkin Donuts scandal: Dunkin Donuts is owned by Carlyle(sp?) group, which is owned by (amongst others) members of the Bush Crime Family including the Bin Ladin family.
Repunantcants, always attack the messenger. Never admit you're wrong and attack the liberal press. Up is down, east is west and north is south. They think you're stupid and they are right about that for the 23%.

You've probably heard that daddy Bush was watching 9/11 live @ the Ritz/Carlton w/Osama Bin Ladin's brother. From my understanding it was a Carlyle group meeting that they were attending.

Ok, we have mcchimpy saying Sen. Obama shouldn't talk about Iraq because he hasn't visited the beautiful countryside in two years. how much bs can I stand? One doesn't have to experience a snap-shot photo-op tour of downtown Badhdad to know it's fucked up for nothing. I guess I shouldn't talk about torture either mcinsane, since I haven't experienced the "fraternity prank" personally. can he be the stupidest old fucker alive?
Next, we have hill and her husband lying as usual. Obama needs 45 delegates and hill and bill needs 245 delegates. It's an impossibility maybe even an improbability that she would win; with or with out Sen. Obama running. hill's circus will be all over by next week so say Pelosi and Reid.

Gathering thoughts-- if the the Bin Laden and Bush families are linked in the donut business, it wouldn't take a wild imagination to suspect, given the Bush family history of promoting and profiting off war illegally, that maybe the Bush and Bin Laden families are linked in a conspiracy to promote and profit off of an illegal occupation of Iraq?
Isn't this an old Bush family tradition going back to England and Germany battling each other, when they were really one ruling Royal Family pretending to care about their subjects? The Windsors took that name to sound like they were English when they were actually German, was there a time they were marching on themselves (Germany/Brittain) and making personal wealth on blood? I need to read more!

Seems another 20 year friend of Obama puts his foot in his mouth bigtime. What a racist rant! It seems the video at youtube has the new pastor of the church introducing him as a long time friend, and priest extraordinaire etc., and it appears this man is no stranger to that church and was praised for the message but especially the messenger. Also read at another website (ABC) that Obama flew this guy out to do a speech for him at some religious conference but has now scrubbed his campaign website of any reference to this man. The worst thing beyond the speech was seeing parishionners standing up clapping and cheering. I am sorry but for those that support Obama you can't honestly believe that things like this never happened while Obama was there on Sundays. Now he has two longtime religious friends who have some pretty out of the mainstream ways of acting. He apparently worked with this priest when he doing his community organizing to get black people registered to vote. So, I don't think this man is totally unknown to Obama like some are trying to infer. He apparently has known him as long as he has known Wright.

Open Letter to Obama Superdelegates
Dear Obama Superdelegates,
I want to ask you how you can continue to support Senator Obama after this latest disgraceful episode where his campaign maliciously and intentionally disseminated a vicious lie regarding Hillary's comment about RFK in order to impugn her. Why did he feel he had the right to malign her like this, and why do you remain silent? I do not accept that he should not be held personally responsible if you hold President Bush responsible for the war in Iraq, though Bush never fired a shot. Obama has repeatedly shown a mean streak and a horrible lack of judgement that is unacceptable for a Presidential contender.

Gingrich quips Bush should have allowed some 'reminder' attacks
"I honestly don't know," Gingrich replied. "I would have expected another attack. I was very, very worried ... when we had the sniper attacks, because the sniper attacks were psychologically so frightening. ... I was amazed that the bad guys didn't figure out how to send ten or twelve sniper teams."
"This is ... one of the great tragedies of the Bush administration," Gingrich continued. "The more successful they've been at intercepting and stopping bad guys, the less proof there is that we're in danger. And therefore, the better they've done at making sure there isn't an attack, the easier it is to say, 'Well, there never was going to be an attack anyway.' And it's almost like they should every once in a while have allowed an attack to get through just to remind us."
Gingrich then recommended splitting the FBI into a domestic crime unit, which would respect civil liberties, and a "small but very aggressive anti-terrorism agency" with "extraordinary ability to eavesdrop."
"I think that your liberties in a domestic setting are paramount," Gingrich explained. "I would rather risk crime than risk losing my civil liberties. But I would not rather risk a nuclear weapon. ... I think the greatest danger to our liberty is to actually have the country end up in the kind of attack that would lead us to favor a dictatorship for security."

McCain is working on how to ill-define Obama.
The Republican nominee-in-waiting is increasingly uttering campaign trail criticisms, previewing likely themes and laying the foundation for an eventual full-blown effort to try to ill define — and derail — his expected Democratic rival.
"He does not have the knowledge or experience to make the judgments" on Iraq and other issues, McCain, a four-term senator, said late Wednesday — as he does almost daily now.
http://www.rawstory.com/news/mochila/McCain_sta...
This is why Obama needs to start working toward the general election now.
Obama needs to define McCain in his own terms. Obama needs to start peeling core GOP voters away from McCain now! Obama does not need to have to fight both Hillary and McCain all the way to the Democratic convention.
Power tool guy was lame.
So yesterday a whole bunch of politicians gathered here in Sweden to hold the first annual 'Future of Iraq' conference.
I didn't pay much attention to it, because after hearing first your beloved Condie then the Iraqi president, then the Iraqi whatever all talk about that all is well and the only thing that Iraq basicly needs is more private investors. Doubt these parrots speak for the Iraqi people...
Afterwards the UN main man atleast sent some minor critique to the Iraqi (puppet) government, but that was about it.
Iran was not invited to participate, wonder why...
I think Obama should go to Iraq but with the sole purpose to meet with the troops. He should ask to speak to the troops in private with no media to record the conversations. I think it will help Obama form his plan on how to get the United States out of Iraq. Obama should then come up with a plan for the United States to leave Iraq, rebuild Iraq, and stabilize the ME in general.

Top US Scientists And Economists Call For Swift, Deep Cuts In Global Warming Pollution - http://www.commondreams.org/news2008/0529-02.htm
Another article - http://www.desmogblog.com/1-700-scientists-and-economists-call-for-immed...
More than 1,700 of the nation's most prominent scientists and economists today released a joint statement calling on policymakers to require immediate, deep reductions in heat-trapping emissions that cause global warming. Issued just days before the Senate begins debate on the Lieberman-Warner climate bill, the statement marks the first time leading U.S. scientists and economists have joined together to make such an appeal.
"The cost of preventing climate change in terms of policy is generally agreed (by economists) to be 1-2 percent of US GDP," while the projected costs of continuing on the current path are "10-20 percent of GDP," he said "The most risky thing we can do is nothing."
Yes...Lieberman-Warner is flawed, deeply, and no, its not likely to be strengthened, especially with the Oil Crime Family in the White House, but it is a start and it needs to be passed, then when Obama is elected, we need to pass even more agressive leglislation.
Well, You Don't Say: White House admits humans causing climate change - http://www.grist.org/news/2008/05/29/white_house/
The White House has begrudgingly admitted (bowing to a court order) that "most of the recent global warming is very likely due to human generated increases in greenhouse gas concentrations." In a 271-page report -- court-ordered and four years late -- federal scientists have created a "one-stop shop" summary of potential climate impacts on the U.S. environment, economy, and public health.
The report predicts stop-us-if-you've-heard-this-one heat waves, water shortages, and severe weather (oh my!), and notes that "many of the expected health effects are likely to fall disproportionately on the poor, the elderly, the disabled, and the uninsured." It also foresees a high-cost expansion of electricity capacity.
Environmental groups sued to force the completion of a new study. Senator John Kerry, the Massachusetts Democrat who was lead author of the 1990 law, strongly criticized the White House.
“The three-year delay of this report is sadly fitting for an administration that has wasted seven years denying the real threat of global climate change,” Mr. Kerry said in a statement. “In these lost years, we could have slowed global warming and advanced clean energy solutions, but instead America’s climate change strategy has been at best rhetorical, not real.”
WTF? Half-Trillion Dollars for Nukes! - http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/05/29/9268/
It takes 30 years to realize any gains from new nuclear plants...the upfront costs are enormous in the tens of billions per plant, plus the mandatory (yeah) tens of billions every year to run them (subsidies, liability costs)....
This is a half-baked loony tunes idea cooked up by Lieberman & Warner to give McCain a bump in November...he's the only candidate pushing heavily for this (the 'a nuke in every garage' idea...wow...can't see any problems there)
If you receive any petitions regarding keeping this off the table please sign them (takes all of 10 seconds) or contact your Senators to keep this off the table...uranium is a finite resource, a dwindling one at that, still no way to dispose of waste....this is no different than staying on Oil to doom our economy
Pass the act...but keep the dirty, expensive, finite resource dependent energy off the table....
NYT: "Hoping to bring the Democratic presidential nomination fight to an end, party leaders are intensifying their efforts to encourage remaining uncommitted superdelegates to make their choice public by the middle of next week....Mr. Reid also told an audience in Los Angeles that the nominee would be known by Wednesday. He told others that a sufficient number of superdelegates are prepared to put Senator Barack Obama over the top quickly after Tuesday’s voting is finished."

McBush/McSame/McCain does't care about the environment: The cowardly lion, McCain to skip another crucial climate vote - http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2008/5/29/122858/359
"Unbelievable. Sen. John McCain -- who just weeks ago said of the Climate Security Act, "I hope it will pass, and I hope the entire Congress will join in supporting it and the President of the United States would sign it" -- now says he won't show up to vote on it.
He won't vote against it, mind you. Won't go on record. Won't take a stand. He just won't show.
Pardon my French, but that's just chicken$hit. Not to mention bull$hit: in a crucial vote earlier this Congressional session that would have transferred oil company subsidies to renewable energy, McCain was actually in D.C. -- he sat on his plane while the vote was taken. (The measure failed by one vote.)
And while I'm ranting: The reason McCain opposes Lieberman-Warner is that it doesn't contain sufficient pork for the nuclear industry. This is a guy who wants the U.S. to build on the order of 700 new nuclear plants, telling Nevada voters that we won't need a place to store all the waste."

Scientists Cast Doubt on Kennedy Bullet Analysis - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/16/AR200705...
A study by a National Academy of Sciences research team that includes a former top FBI scientist concludes: Lee Harvey oswald could NOT have acted alone. A lead analys of the so-called 'magic bullet' -- said to have killed JFK and wounded John Conally --is flawed. The FBI has agreed and has stopped using the challenged procedure. If Oswald did not act alone, the murder of JFK was a 'conspiracy'.
Less well-known forensic experts have said the same thing. The 'magic bullet', found conveniently on a gurney at Parkland, had NEVER BEEN FIRED from a gun at all --let alone kill one and wound another.

GOP/Republican 'Supporting the Troops' Update: U.S. Army: Suicides highest in 2007 - http://welcome-to-pottersville.blogspot.com/2008/05/us-army-suicides-hig...
They say that war is hell and obviously, it's an understatement. It's hell on a soldier's family, hell on the economy, hell on the environment and landscape, hell on the civilians caught in the crossfire. But rarely does the media mention the psychological hell that war visits on the minds of those who are thrust into a war that's never of their choosing.
In perhaps a deliberately belated nod to Memorial Day, the army published a report today announcing that suicides are at an alltime high. Last year, 115 troops ended their own lives, claims the report, which is up from 102 in '06. What jumps out at me is that 74% of the suicides were at some point deployed to either Iraq or Afghanistan. 36 of the suicides occured on the battlefield.

Right wingnut/Con-servative Heroes Update: KKK Warns of Death Threat Against Obama - http://mparent7777-1.livejournal.com/284700.html
It is interesting that it is FOX News, a 'hate' organization if there ever was one, that gets the 'exclusive' on this story:"Chicago -- Senator Barack Obama was recently placed under Secret Service protection. It is the earliest ever for a presidential candidate. Now, we may finally know why. In this Fox exclusive, the imperial wizard of the Klan confessed just how far people can be motivated by hate."
Count on Fox Noise to get 'the exclusive'....and still those insanely idiotic right wingnut morons wonder why African Americans don't vote Republican....whew....what a mystery!

Obama campaign slams McCain on McClellan book - http://www.timesnow.tv/NewsDtls.aspx?NewsID=8987
McCain criticized Obama for saying he, if elected, would be prepared to sit down with Iranian leaders to sort out issues. Countering quickly, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said: "On the day after the former White House press secretary Scott McClellan conceded that the Bush administration used deception and propaganda to take us to war, it seems odd that Senator McCain, who bought the flawed rationale for war so readily, would be lecturing others on their depth of understanding about Iraq."

Brent Budowsky: Adm. Fallon, Hero; Scott McClellan, Bum - http://pundits.thehill.com/2008/05/29/adm-fallon-hero-scott-mcclellan-bum/
Now we know. Scott McClellan becomes a wealthy man by betraying George W. Bush, while Bush betrayed the Constitution, with Scott McClellan's advocacy and support, while good men and women die for their mistakes.
By contrast, Adm. William Fallon embodied the noblest tradition of military and public service by sacrificing one of the highest jobs in his profession, for the higher principle of preserving the integrity and honor of his military judgment.
Scott McClellan is the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week. No, Scott McClellan is no hero for fessing up to the fact that George Bush misled the nation into war -- or for revealing, among other things we already knew, that Scooter Libby and Karl Rove coordinated their accounts of the treasonous Valerie Plame outing. If he's repentant, he should give his book fee to a rehabilitation fund for Vets or Iraqis.

McClellan is no profile in courage. He let his nation down when his candor was most needed. Now, he tells us the truth, far too late, while fattening his wallet.
