There was nothing like watching Harvey Corman try to not crack up - mid skit - when he and Tim were going at it. That was as good as any skit!

RIP and thanks for the memories! (tugging ear)

Oh, what the heck...might as well blogwhore on an open thread.... :)

If you haven't yet read this, please do. Bush Administration officials have been charged with war crimes.

If the HRC supporters cause a rukus at this meeting. They've gone wayyyyy to far. But lets just make sure it's not operation KAOS from Limbaugh before we start accusing anyone.

Uh...heartfelt tributes lose a little something when you don't spell the dude's name right.
Korman. With a K.

Time to cue up "Blazing Saddles".....

RIP Harvey. Thanks for the laughs.

Blazing Saddles was the first R-rated movie I ever saw.

"That's Hedley."

At some point, both Conway and Korman were the comics who made the other comic look good.

The Carol Burnett Show allowed both of them to do their best ensemble or solo.

Korman was a master. A center piece of it all, in his day. Bless him on his next adventures, trying not to laugh at them all up there. But all the while, helping Harpo perhaps, set up the next one for somone.

In my house while growing up tween oh, 5th grade and 10th grade, Burnett, Ed Sullivan, Red Skelton, and a host of others including Laugh In and TWTHTW were on every night. My parents liked to laugh, and made danged sure us kids did too.

My parent's also liked political comedy, as much as anything else. There were pretty hip that way, despite being 'square' . . . *G*

If only comedy was as good as it was in those days. If only we had something to laugh about now.

So very true.
I recall an interview with both he and Conway where Tim said it was his goal to set Harvey off. He worked at it. And Harvey got very good at learning how to swallow the laughs though he often ended up laughing at least once.

I used to love that show. It was spontaneous and ridiculous and fun.
RIP Harvey!

Blazing Saddles...a classic. Now I am bummed again.

Carol Burnett Show and the Tim Conway Show made me laugh my little ass off (I was 7 or so)!
I remember Tim popping out of one his giant letters at the start of the show. Conway and Corman used to fight back the laughter sometimes in their skits.

Yeah, remember when we used to enjoy tv.

korman was not only a brilliant comedic actor, but by all accounts was a warm and sweet guy

on aintitcoolnews.com, one of the nurses who cared for him during his final days came on to tell how, before he got too weak, he would plan practical jokes for visitors

a consumate performer to the very end

this has been a very sad month for me, as too many of the giants in the industry passed on

korman, dick martin, sydney pollack, alexander courage, bebe baron, earl hagen

and damn the academy for not giving harvey an award for blazing saddles...hedley lamaar is one of the greatest screen villians ever created

RIP Harvey! Loved your laughter.

And only you could do the voodoo that you do so well!

Count D'Money! Count D'Money!.

That's D' Monet. Don't get saucy with me Bernaise.

Thanks Harv.

For some reason, McCain still gets more trust than Obama. China tries to avert its own Chernobyl. Americans don't

Harvey was brilliant and helped make the Carol Burnett show one of the funniest TV series ever! Directed by Mel Brooks, Harvey did some of his best work in film.

Great comedy is great comedy. Even during the much vaunted, insurectionist late '60's & early '70's, grandma & grandpa, hippies and shitkickers alike could tune in for a laugh on the Carol Burnett Show. RIP, Harvey. You did good....

Somebody obviously got to KOB or TLAs blocking its stream.

Typical example of an Ad Hominem Attack:

No one is refuting McClellan's points about using propaganda to sell the war, the failures after Katrina, or Bush authorizing the Plame leak. The White House is just trying to discredit his character.

UCLA prioritizes liver transplants to yakuza, while letting other donors die in the process.

Yes, attack the messenger, not the message.

The Wayback machine even tho they won their recent tussle with one of the TLAs on identifying a visitor to their website, still has problems searching for some topics or websites, you can alternate between safe and dodgy ones and it works then it has server problems alternatively.
Try searching their http archives for google then X then google then X, silly servers being sporadic yet predictable with their errors.

I haven't heard *any* of the three major candidates say they would charge the Bushies with anything, so it isn't just Obama. I don't totally disagree. This is the bi-product of a disfunctional, two-party system. The two sides of the same coin need each other.

I am still trying to figure out what "war" is this country fighting. I know there was an invasion of a sovereign country. I know the invaded country was under the dictatorship of a tyyrant by the usual definition of the word tyrant (I consider Putin a tyrant). We are still trying to maintain our occupation of the invaded country and still try to frame it as a "war". But, who is the enemy we went against and for which we continue to try to justify the billions, soon to be a trillion dollars, and thousands upon thousands of human lives? Pre-emptive war? Is there such a thing or is it nothing more than invasion by another name? A rose by any other name is still a.......

I know what you are saying. You can't win arguments with these people. We have to awaken the percentage of people who are not yet politically involved I guess. Some people will just say anything to avoid confronting certain realities. Luckily more and more people have the incentive to become politically involved and will be receptive to your message in the future.

Thanks for the link and the info. I know of several "exercises" which have taken place recently which virtually practiced enacting martial law. And then there was that massive "immigration" exercise where they in-processed a large number of supposed immigrants for detention (in IA). I think they're practicing mass in-processing for US citizens for when they call martial law after whatever false flag operation they will be doing.

There is so much pointing to that.

Sorry to quote myself, but this has been on my mind so I thought I would put this out there.

What happens if/when martial law is called? How do you communicate with people? How do you say FUCK YOU when they want to take you away? How do you stage a resistance?

The strange thing about the 'story' is that the judge Ben Neece got stabbed the following month and again in Febuary and went underground the next day according to reports !
Was it pressure on his wife from forces outside that made her go off the rails or a setup !?
I know somebody who I think has family in Brownsville, I will ask if theres rumours going round.

It also could be selective raids on factories too, similar in style to the Abramoff linked Casinos and the ones who had their licenses revoked and reinstated after they started paying the $300,000 pcm in lobby fees.
Nothing induces factory owners when faced by mobs or any type to pay up protection monies,
when their businesses come under attack or their workforce is removed.
Would be interesting to see which companies were Republican donors and which ones were raided.

You're being an apologist. Yeah, the cameraman was being a dickhead. But a cop is trained to deal with that and much worse without snapping. What if it has been worse? Would the cop have gone all Rodney King on the camera dude? Would he have killed him? You can't allow that type of behavior by someone who is supposed to be the law. They should be held to a much higher standard. They have power and have to be able to deal with that power.

One of the funniest things I recall Harvey by was when he appeared with Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show. He was talking about a recent appearance by his friend, Carl Reiner, the week-or-so before. Heavily paraphrasing here:

"My wife was in the bathroom and I was watching your show when Carl broke into this wild dance. And he wouldn't stop. The crowd was laughing and he kept going. I yelled to my wife, "Honey, come quick. Reiner's gonna have a heart attack on live television!!"

He was wonderful. My condolences to the Corman family.

My ex was a criminal defense attorney. (Jokes welcome...there's a reason he's my ex. :-) ) That said, I have first hand knowledge of at least one local cop who lies his ass off in court. I have talked with (mostly listened to) people who had stories of this man and the lengths of what he would say in court was pretty amazing. Had it been one or two instances, I would have just said "pffft, lying criminal types" but it wasn't just one or two.

Cops should never be above the law. And to have court for court cost sake is sick.

How fucked up is this country? I was in NY a couple weeks ago. After a disastrous travel day (with seven hour delays and finally having to go into NYC to drive four hours to my original destination) I passed through a toll both at midnight. The road was heavily under construction. The highway split just after the toll plaza and I needed to be in the left lanes to go to that highway. I didn't see the sign that it was an EZ Pass only lane. The toll collector gave me a $90 ticket for being in the wrong lane (after giving me a two minute tongue lashing for holding up traffic - of which there was none behind me until she spent those two minutes yelling at me). So, being from out of state, on a road under construction, going to a toll plaza that had all booths and gates (and looked fully like a manned booth) I get this ticket...by a toll collector. She didn't care that I was from out of state in a rented car.

Yeah, I was in the wrong lane but it wasn't intentional. What next, fining someone for asking a cop for directions? Good idea to give more people power like that.

I suppose NYC really needs that $90 bucks.
