Read that headline twice. It might just be the dumbest statement made on television since Bush took office. After accusing Obama of voting to deny armor for the troops, Dick Morris tries to argue that Obama displayed poor judgment during the Georgian/Russian conflict because he pointed out that we would be in a stronger position to condemn Russia if we hadn't squandered our credibility by invading Iraq. After Colmes reminds him that Obama is right, Morris proceeds to make himself look even dumber by claiming we invaded Iraq at the invitation of Saddam Hussein. Huh?

To recap: Obama doesn't want to protect the troops (he does); we invaded Iraq at the request of Saddam Hussein (we didn't); we're staying in Iraq because the Iraqis want us there (they don't); and America has the requisite credibility to scold other countries for doing exactly what we do (we don't). How much does FOX pay this clown?

Morris says: The choice of Biden reminds me very much of Bush's choice of Cheney. The idea of going for an older, wiser, more experienced figure.
Hannity: He's angry. He's arrogant. He's condescending. He thinks he knows it all......
Morris: Those adjectives would not apply to Cheney.
Colmes gets at him for distorting Obama's voting record and the conversation then moves here:
Morris: In the new funding Bill, the whole focus of that funding Bill was armor for the, for the Humvees. And while it is true of course Obama did not want our troops killed, uh he was willing to vote for a total cut off even though that money was used to armor the uh...stuff..[.......] In the final vote on that Bill he voted against funding.
Then he says Obama knows nothing about foreign policy and needs someone on the ticket who knows something about it and this follows:

I think they tried to use that line to justify the invasion of Cambodia. It didn't work 35 years ago.
The Germans were in France at the invitation of the Vichy government also. And, of course, the Ruskies invaded Georgia in search of weapons of mass destruction.
The Daily Show had a clip where Secretary of Def Gates was maintaining that countries don't invade other countries, in Europe. So, that is our new stand.
Now, we loose all credibility when we invade a county thousands of miles away, who represents no security threat to the U.S. Meanwhile, the Russians invaded a neighboring country. We have been interfering for years in the affairs of our neighbors to the south, such as Panama, and Nicaragua ever since the days of the Monroe Doctrine. So, we don't have any credibility in criticizing the Russians.
The idea of bringing Georgia and a host of other countries into NATO also needs to be examined. We didn't respond militarily this time, but what happens if we are treaty-bound to do so? Really want World War III over a couple of break-away provinces?
Meanwhile we hear nothing but borrow and spend options being voiced by the Presidential candidates while this idea of playing the world's policeman which is bankrupting this country is off the table for discussion. The U.S. currently spends one out of every two dollars spent in the world on the military.
The only way morris's comment would make sense, is if you considered Ahmed Chalabi (Curveball)) the true government of Iraq.
Then of course the whole phony WMD thing.
So not only did we never find any ready WMD's, but Chalabi the secularist that we favored was roundly defeated in a electeion by Al Maliki the Shia.
