As chronicled here, Roger Shuler had been in jail since October, the only American journalist jailed anywhere in the world, imprisoned right here in America. He had refused to remove material from his blog, or to be prevented from writing about certain powerful persons, without a trial. If journalism, as Finley Peter Dunne opined, is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable, Roger Shuler lives up to that premise. Finally released this week, Shuler, in an emotional interview, talked about his experience in jail.
