This Week with George Stephanopoulos marks the death of one service member in Afghanistan.

US Army CPT. James E. Chaffin III, 27, Columbia, SC

According to iCasualties, the total number of allied service members killed in Afghanistan is now 3,420.

In addition, the following notable names lost their lives this week:

DJ/producer Frankie Knuckles, 59
Jazz pianist King Fleming, 91
OK Supreme Court judge Rudolph Hargrave, 89
Television sports producer Sandy Grossman, 78
Television executive Lucy Hood, 56
Musician Arthur Smith, 93
Author Peter Matthiessen, 86
Comedian and friend of site John Pinette, 50
