Elizabeth Warren's new book is proving to be extremely popular, providing an excellent opportunity for Democrats to change the narrative going into the 2014 election.
May 3, 2014

The massive response to Elizabeth Warren's new book, A Fighting Chance, gives Democrats a great opportunity to change the 2014 conversation. I wrote about this last week when the book had just come out, and I am more convinced now that the book has been out for a week. Sales are skyrocketing, book events coast to coast are sold out, and everybody in Democratic politics is talking about it. Democrats need to embrace Warren's message in order to fire up the activists, online donors, and Democratic base voters they so desperately need to win in 2014. This is our moment to light a fire under Democrats and change the dynamic from us being in a defensive crouch, whining because our voters are unmotivated to turn out and vote, to going on offense and taking it to the Republicans and their billionaire big business buddies.

Warren occupies a special space in American politics. Ironically, the first time she caught the attention of progressive and Democratic activists was when she courageously skewered a Democrat, Obama's first term Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, in a TARP oversight hearing. Her reputation for taking on anyone in either party who sides with the big Wall Street banks and other special interests squeezing the middle class and working poor is a big part of what gives the credibility to rally progressives out of their 2014 doldrums, and turn this campaign into a referendum on the wealthy special interests who are hurting the Main Street economy.

To mark this moment, the organization I chair, American Family Voices, produced this video, which is a celebration of the role Warren plays, and a celebration of her agenda, her courage, and her passion in the battle for A Fighting Chance for all Americans. Please spread it around:
