This broke my heart. The whole mess breaks my heart. Israel is spawning a new generation of hate, because how will these children forgive being pelted with bombs, losing their friends, their parents, their aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters?
After a United Nations-run school sheltering more than 3,000 Palestinians was shelled early Wednesday, UN official Chris Gunness could not contain his grief while on camera with Al Jazeera Arabic."The rights of Palestinians, and even their children, are wholesale denied... and its appalling," Gunness, spokesman for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), told Al Jazeera Arabic from Jerusalem. The interviewer appears to thank him for appearing, upon which Gunness breaks down and weeps.
Gaza's Ministry of Health said at least 17 people were killed and 90 wounded by the school shelling. An Israeli military spokesman told the New York Times that Israeli troops did not target UN facilities, but did respond to Palestinian militant fire from nearby the school in Jabaliya refugee camp.
I don't care where they thought fire came from. I'm sick to death of their constant blame-shifting. First it's the "human shields" excuse, then it's that they thought missiles were being stored in the school, and now it's no, no, there was fire coming from nearby the school.
It's just wrong. It's immoral. War is immoral, but targeting children in war is really immoral. Screw every conservative who stands up for "life" while they applaud bastards who take it away.
Like Christians, some hawk-right Israelis --most Jews do not fall into this category, by the way-- seem to have forgotten the very fundamentals of the religion they claim entitles them to that land. They should review the Ten Commandments. Thou shalt not bear false witness. Thou shalt not kill. For starters.
