never mind. . . Don't want to say something to get in any more trouble then I already am.

Wait that's a "Solution" . . lets just call the Dec Holidays the "Whatever Season".

It's quite timely, what with all those electronic gizmos being given as gifts. Poor Santa, it's tough all around.

I'd like to wish Happy Whatever to all!

ps, thanks, Evet ;)

The Winter Solstice was three nights ago.

Got a 4-year-old granddaughter visiting; just finishing up her stocking. She is learning how to sew and made a very small stocking for... the dog. This is really quite young for the concentration and effort she put out, whip-stitching the edges of the felt with crochet cotton and a tapestry needls. The improvement was quite apparent as she really got the hang of it.

Christmas, to me, has always been about making stuff for other people.

...didn't get over his mental illness from previous abusive owners, I was new to big birds anc couldn't help. Plus he destroyed a LOT of woodwork around my house and was totally inconsolable unless I was giving him direct attention... and then he was so sweet and loving, just adorable.

Me too. I like sharing things. I don't care to receive things.

Merry Christmas. Or, otherwise enjoy the 25th with you and yours. Happy Boxing Day (26th) for Canadian and U.K. folks.

You got it, Edwin. It's really supposed to be about giving.

Today President Obama announced the nomination of Ann Tompkins for U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. She's a partner in the law firm Alston & Bird.

A few weeks ago, Obama nominated Thomas G. Walker to be U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina. He's also a partner at Alston & Bird.

Open Secrets says Alston & Bird is a lobbying firm that made $8.1 million in lobbying fees in 2009. Through 2008, firm employees contributed $62,000 to Obama's campaigns.

Andy K's picture

And on whose behalf? Are their lobbying efforts devoid of any benefits for the common man?

How much do you think that the commenters in the prog-o-sphere contributed to Obama's campaign? If any one of them contributed up to the federal limit, do you think they should be precluded from consideration from appointed public office? Or is there some threshold of acceptability?

Here's a better link.

It appears to me that Alston & Bird is represented by two different lobbying firms, Downey McGrath Group and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Alston & Bird is simply a large law firm.

Holidays are not meant for single people. I detest holidays and am always glad when they end. Too much emphasis on one single day! There is one good aspect of it though........no surprises....heh..:)

Evet's picture

instead of a bottle to comfort them. Or both.

Evet's picture

and you got an avalanche of year end bills to pay yet they expect you to go out and shop till your drop.

What kind of Holiday is that?

BeamMeUpScottyBoyGM's picture

Haven't done the "bottle" for 8 years now! :)

Palin denies she is the year's biggest liar, thereby clinching her position as the year's biggest liar.

I mean if she was to admit she is the year's biggest liar she would be telling the truth, and we all know she could never do that.

The power of lies, greed, and fear compels her. she is completely predictable.

Us folks in the Great Lakes are suppose to have a mild winter thanks to the El Nino effect. Last year, 242 inches of snow. 242 INCHES! We along Lake Erie are use to snow, but 242 is even a little much for us. By this time last year we were already above 100 inches. We've had 18 inches so far.

I got two nephews three years old each. Every time they visit they want to play with my guitars. I get a little nervous having a three year old play with my Gibson electric and my Taylor acoustic. So I got them both a starter acoustic. Little 30 inchers. At least now when they come over I know they'll be bored with guitars and keep their greasy little hands off of mine. I kid, I kid. I can't wait to teach them how to play with something the size they handle.

Happy Holidays all. Been another great year sparring with you all. Thanks John and all you guys who keep up the fight for all of us. By all of us I mean us long haired hippies. Remember, we may not agree with everything that this admin has or is doing but it sure as hell beats the alternative.

Jeremy has been begging for candy canes whenever I have one myself. If he's patient he'll get a rawhide "candy cane" later to chew on. The kitties are having a lengthy nap, and my Maternal Unit is watching The View.

It's not a Christmas with my large extended family, unfortunately, but this one will do. ;)
