I was wondering if there had been any observations made about the proliferation of gambling and the contributions that has made to our sick economy.

You think about how the majority of gambling was in Las Vegas and Atlantic City twenty years ago, but now even relatively small counties can have 3 casinos, not to mention lottery and internet gambling from home.

What would all that disposable income have been spent on if gambling wasn't so easy?

investing in the stock market is a gamble also. Should we shut down Wall Street?

So your position is the proliferation of gambling is a good thing, creates jobs, etc.?

Stock market is different. One does not lose everything at once and is usually paid dividends when invested reasonably. (I know the market is somewhat fixed too, but it is not a casino unless you are an options trader)

Plus the stock market has been around for quite some time. My time reference goes back 20 years or so and I was trying to correlate it with the current economic sickness.

others have an addiction. The same is for some of the oligarchy that manipulate the market. Many legitimate pension funds have lost heavily because of those that manipulate the market and they weren't gambling for entertainment.

now that is disgusting, degrading, demoralizing, and socially toxic -- from our suicidal diet of processed fat, salt, and corn syrup byproducts to the spiritually punishing everyday realm of the highway strip to the fantastic loneliness and alienation of a people made hostage to a TV-consumer nexus of corporate colonialism.

It's not going away anytime soon.

Only American-style, though. It's more like anti-feng shui. And you're already doing it.

Carry on.

(1) Don’t let large numbers of Americans starve, or they will act out politically and unpredictably. (2) Resecure the bases of US global power sufficient to ensure adequate flow from the periphery to keep that domestic population calm. (3) Get elected again.
