Panic Planet: "Perversion for Profit" is a 1965 propaganda film financed by Charles Keating [yes, the S&L scandal Charles Keating] and narrated by George Putnam. A vehement diatribe against pornography, the film attempts to link explicit portrayals of human sexuality to a Communist conspiracy and the subversion of American civilization. The film is in the public domain, and it has become a popular download from the Prelinger Archives.

stimulating!

I'll ask here. Did anyone happen to see Wolf Blitzer's show this afternoon where James Carville was arguing with a Repug named Tony? Tony, get this, accused Obama of bullying Rush Limbaugh. I'm confused, is he still Rush the All Powerful, or is he now the schoolyard runt?

Even Steele kneels before Fatty and swears allegiance.

I assume he was told to by the puppeteers.

Yeah, that's what I was guessing. That's why I laughed out loud when the idiot said that Obama was bullying Rush!

the new J. Edgar Hoover? Got a sexual scandal on everyone?

Who knows, maybe he does have some blackmail material on the other Repugs, but then just like Hoover, I'm sure he's got some skeletons in his closet too...too bad no one's been able to dig them up to hold over him! :P

Fatty Arseboil likes to vacation in the Dominican Republic, a place which is reputed to be a sex tourist haven.

Somebody has got to have some photos of him partying there, or it will just be a matter of time.

Ahh, very good point. For all the bad karma that Arseboil has built up, hopefully he has lots of people hounding him over there with cameras!

let him think they are not.

Fatty Arseboil is heavily back on his unprescribed meds.

Oh well third time lucky, people floating through the day on drugs generally make big mistakes.

no, he's the schoolyard *unt.

LOL, good point.

Washington state legalizes assisted suicide. State lawmakers against the stimulus are trying their luck at another secession from the union. Less than half of Americans think that we should get back to the 40 million uninsured some other time. A Bush memo released by Obama tries to make it a heckuva lot easier for him to be a dictator. Even an ex-CEO has a bone to pick w/ AIG. The hawks plant Obama's helicopter information in Iran for some reason. Obama's gonna have to get the IRS to vet his nominees. The Dow's the worst in 12 years. Jindal finally tries to rebound on his speech. This Modern World noted a NYT article in which Murdoch indirectly acknowledges global warming after seeing a lecture by Gore. Prop. 8 goes to court this week. Guinea-Bassau's Prez was assassinated.

Hooray! No more Federal raids on assisted suicide clinics!

Recognition of a basic right, whether to exist or not. Completely unreasonable to criminalize this choice, and to put people in fear of ending their days forced into serving the purposes of others, by suffering for them.

has the grubby hands of a certain celebrity general/wannabe-poltician behind the scenes, one Gen. Wesley Clark adviser to that two bit IP monitoring company.

Either a half arsed part of the bomb Iran campaign, or Obama wants a new helicopter (and why not).

Or possibly a parting gift from some Repug to make Obama less secure.

Rather worrying story that neo nazi and his dirty bomb plot, foiled two months ago, not by our wondrous TLAs but by his wife putting a bullet into his head.

What with US army anthrax in Oct 2001 and now this, shows how rabid the reich wing are in the US.

That's the funniest clip you've ever posted bluegal!!

The Justice Department today released nine national security legal opinions written by the Bush administration, and revealed that in the weeks before President George W. Bush left office, an administration attorney had disavowed all of them.

So it was illegal all along. Surely now, come on, wouldn't they....nevermind.

Along with Tony Blair, Chimpy is going to have to choose his vacation destinations very carefully, legal council advise for every travel plan.

Was one of the amusing things about the Olympics, it was effectively a convention of international mass murderers and war criminals.

Only in China.

That Flush is all the GOP have. kewl.
Does anyone remember Flush dancing around in his chair making fun of Michael J Fox? Now, I've had back problems. No one with a bad back could do that kinda jostling around with a so called bad back. Unless he was seriously doped up on pain meds. And even then, you ain't movin to fast.

(R)

maybe i'm to wound up about this but personally i feel the (R) and the comic(RUSH) are trying to put all of this "bailout" and recovery/stimulus drama on Obama. this financial crisis and economic crisis are very complicated and involve many GLOBAL players. i get a kick out of wallStreet and the media talking heads
few of them really understand the magnitude of this crisis. AIG can't be allowed to fail. people have NO CONfidence in the financial industry so people aren't spending BUT saving the irony. but saving is really NOT good right NOW. it's our own protectionism. the TARP was before obama got in office. the auto industry got the double whamy gas prices and NO credit for loans/leases. AIG has insured businesses in europe in a big way. the international banking system is totally involved in this. without trying the "bailout" this may COST us much more. it's a catch-22 for obama. everyone wants it fixed fast but NOT too fast and done right.

The new memos, primarily authored by the infamous torture normalizer John Yoo, reflect a view that the president was free to destroy civil liberties to preserve national security — and that these two ideals, liberty and security, were oppositional. In short, the President Bush carved out for himself dictatorial powers — based on a nebulous notion of commander in chief authority — to suspend the Bill of Rights.

We knew that Yoo had briefly suspended the 4th Amendment, authorizing unwarranted domestic search and seizure by the military. What’s news here is that the First Amendment was also up for negotiation:

“The government’s compelling interests in wartime justify restrictions on the scope of individual liberty,” Yoo wrote in one memo. “First Amendment speech and press rights may also be subordinated to the overriding need to wage war successfully.”

Authorized torture of anybody in the hypothetical case of the ticking bomb, even US citizens no matter how old or young, if it would get intelligence.

Small American children were on the torture menu, if it would get their parents to talk.

to think they wanted to expose social security to the "market". great idea (R). they really do want all us working until we drop dead.

Oh, I love that one!

Funny stuff!

I miss him on here and am concerned. Anyone?

He's probably sailin the south China Sea.

i haven't seen his name pop up since before the election. he seemed like a fun dude. i hope he's having fun at a internet cafe somewhere in Bangkok.

We miss you, BB and ysb!

Has anyone seen this article on Yahoo about the retired head (retired in 2005) of AIG filing papers in Federal Court against AIG claiming his fortune was eroded because of AIG lies.

I am just shaking my head. The guy was head of AIG for 38 years and he is now claiming he was lied too?? What the hell was he doing, sitting and reading comic books? I don't get it, I really don't. When is enough, enough?

when you stand to gain a lot of money from a lawsuit, compared to the legal costs involved, you sue.

They see it as an "investment." As foreign and strange it may seen to us common folk.

I am willing to bet my left nut, that this asshole wants in part of the government bailout money that went to AIG.

At some point, we have to come to terms with the fact that the business class is made up, mostly, of people who display clear socipathic tendencies. They are in effect, criminals, therefore trying to deal with them as if they were "normal" people is going to yield little to no benefits to us.

most, if not all of them, screwed somebody, or a million somebodies, to get to the top. enron and madoff are just the tip of the iceberg. factor in the fact that the entire economy has been a house of cards for about the last 100 years, and you begin to see where this is all going.

The Brits were occasionally McCarthyites, too.

One of my favorite films.

If the republicans can't handle the right wing gasbag
Mon, 03/02/2009 - 17:39 — ron
and the rest of the right wing media, how can some of you blame the Democrats for not being able to combat them? I hope we don't see the words "Spineless Democrats" on this site again.

I might add that the media is a powerful tool they have. It's hard for the Democrats to get out any message without getting critisism from the media. You have all seen how it works. The best we have is the internet and many don't have access to it. Sometimes you have to talk to people to get our message out. Keep up the good work.

He promises to remove it from interrogation policies. But will the other stuff still remain?

waterboarding is just the tip of the iceberg; a red herring to take your eye off the other stuff we've been hearing rumors about over the years, but have been too afraid to address.

electrical shocks, genital mutilation, raping of boys, outright cold-blooded execution, etc, etc.

there's probably a concerted effort to keep everyone focused just on waterboarding.

[Deleted. Spam-Sitemonitor]

for the gasbag Limbaugh?

Not really appropriate, but at least the guy is trying to make a buck.

CNN had a food bank bit on, and now I feel sorry for criticizing those folks that made $55,000 a year and went to get food. Lots of people that had good jobs, and have education, are now forced to go. (I learned my lesson. Yeah, the walk a mile in their shoes one. Once you hear the WHOLE story... Flogging self now.) It's just I've never even come close to earning that much; nowhere near.

[Deleted. Spam-Sitemonitor]

At least your could have used a different screen name when attempting to spam this blog with your crap site.

If you can't even master that simple insight, I am sure you have little to offer in terms of "business consulting." LOL jackass...

It is pathetic what some people would recourse in order to make a buck...

[They've been hitting us tonight and last night as well. Please use the 'Flag as Inappropriate' button to alert us to spam. Indeed, Sitemonitor.

gone already

[Deleted. Spam-Sitemonitor]

Since we've found out that those tapes have gone missing...

I sometimes wonder why they bother covering this stuff up at all?

They appear to ahve the balls to torture people, why not have the balls to stand up and take credit? Don't do the crime if you don't want to do the time. You know, the old spiel.

(I'm not blogwhoring here, just trying to make a point using real-life examples. People I KNOW.)

This blog tends to the ridiculous side of conservative extremism. And this is somebody I am close to and care about.

He posted an entry a while back about how Israel was ultimately being very humanitarian and decent to the people of the Gaza Strip, all things considered. The very first response to this was:

When did war become so civilized? What is the “appropriate” response to being attacked by another nation?

...

When I read the Bible (the Old Testament in particular) it always amazes me how the nation of Israel never learns from it’s mistakes. Back when God first gave Israel the land He warned Israel to drive the current inhabitants from the land and He told them what would happen if they didn’t. They didn’t listen then, and they didn’t listen this time around either; and in both instances God was 100% right:

Numbers 33:55
But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

Yeah, that person was advocating the complete wiping out of the Palestinians.

And then there was this response to my argument, from the blogger himself:

War is supposed to be ugly. The way we won WW2 is we hit enemy cities with not only HE bombs, but incindiary bombs. We burned entire cities to the ground. This was not to kill civilians (admittedly, it did), but to coerce the civilians into telling their government to STOP. I fear that Isreal will have to go into Gaza again. I think they’ll have to go after Hezbollah in Lebanon in the future as well. Until the fully crush them, they will not capitulate.

Is it not amazing that these conservatives, people who we can CARE about, and LOVE, and spend QUALITY time with, can think these things?

Honestly, to talk to some of the people who comment on that gentleman's blog face to face, they are completely likable, lovable people. Funny people, who laugh at good jokes, with hearts of gold, and good kids.

And then I see this kind of stuff.

I am truly confused as to what to think.

"Back when God first gave Israel the land He warned Israel to drive the current inhabitants from the land and He told them what would happen if they didn’t."

I'd like to see the deed, signed and sealed by *god, himself. Any one group can make up a myth about a sky god giving them something.

And tada! We have the crux of the problem in Southwest Asia/Northeast Africa...

When one geographic location is the origin point for three different religions and all the civilizations of the world, there's bound to be some tension, I guess! (/snark)

and if you want to pin it down to one exact location, it's the rock in the temple in jerusalem -that's the exact place all three of the world's major monotheistic religions intersect.

i understand why so many people say it's all a bunch of gobbledy-gook over a rock, but it's a lot more complex than that, and for anyone to even begin to be able to offer a solution, you have to know the history, you have to be able to talk the talk.

the underlying reasons for these wars are ALWAYS power and resources; religion is how these wars are "sold" to the unwashed masses.

it's just how it is, given the current power struggle in the world. i hope it's not always this way.

It would blow his tiny tiny mind.

"He" become a lesbian?

I want to be a lesbian too!

BTW, as silly as this all is, it's pretty mild compared to what feminists were telling us about porn. I haven't heard him accuse anyone of watching snuff films yet--an entirely non-existent form of porno that feminists used to be quite up in arms about along with their patriarchal/reactionary allies.

The two movies should be a double feature. Lets all stand up to be counted.

click on youporn.com...will make me quit job and become...lesbian....noooooooo!

I now know where it came from. That was used by The Bastard Fairies in the song "Ode to the Prostitute".

When I think whips, bondage, S&M and black leather, I know they're just gateway drugs toward making us all sing patriotic songs as we toil in the wheat fields for the collective good of the people.

the more you know the better off you are! as long as you stand back and give your leaders excuses for continuing bogus wars and occupations of other peoples countrys the more you become accomplises in thier war crimes, thier was a time when if bush was president you would have been outraged that he would propose enlargeing the war in afganistan by sending 17.000 new troops to afganistan or let him get by with telling you the iraq wars finnished and he is going to bring the boys home in 16 months, when in reality hes going to leave 50.000 troops there to keep the iraqys subdued and under our puppet government there that bush installed , and yet you tell me its ok for obama to do these things , because hes smarter then bush, as long as obama keeps us doing bushes job for him furthering bush and chenys wars of fun and profit thiers going to be more deaths ,more prisoners to be tortured , if anyone thinks that captureing ben laden even if he were still alive will finaly restore your civil rights bush took from you or make you safer then youll fall for anything, as i said before the wars bush started makes him a criminal the wars obama continuies makes the democrats the new war criminals ,

From the esteemed Glen Greenwald @ Salon:

http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/0...

http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/0...

In the context in which Obama is now invoking this theory, think about what it means: if, as happened here, the President breaks the law, then he can just label the relevant evidence "classified" and refuse to turn it over to a court which is attempting to rule on the legality of the President's actions. Once the President decrees that a court is barred from reviewing the relevant evidence because the President claims it is "classified," that's the end of that. It's irrelevant that courts rule that the documents should be usable or even that Congress has created all sorts of mechanisms to enable federal courts to use classified information in judicial proceedings (including specific such procedures for FISA cases).

According to Obama, only the President has the power to decide what is done with classified information, and neither courts nor Congress have any power at all to do anything but politely request that the President change his mind. Therefore, the President has the unilateral, unchallengeable power to prevent any judicial challenges to his actions by simply declaring that the relevant evidence is a secret and refusing to turn it over to a court, even if ordered to do so. That's the argument which the Obama DOJ is now aggressively advancing -- all in order to block any judicial adjudication of Bush's now-dormant NSA program.

It was exactly these theories -- and this behavior -- that led to eight years of accusations of an "imperial presidency" and a "lawless administration" and the like. Anyone remember that?

the ONLY way out of this morass is to go directly to the central lie of the neocon agenda, and hit them with every piece of evidence you have. there's NO OTHER WAY OUT OF THIS MORASS.

you let them get away with something of that magnitude, our country DESERVES to die.

you rake these sons of b!tches over the coals, and we will all be dancing like ewoks.

FREEDOM HANGS LIKE HEAVEN.

morning froggy! your right! but the truth is the democrats are in on the crimes that bush cheny commited and they sure as hell dont want the truth to come to light , thiers going to be no investigations of the crimes that these people knew were happening, whats so funny is these politicians sell us out for a few million dollars in contributions from corporations and then they give them billions back in gratitude for thier chump change !

and what i'm still seeing is way too many folks in the so-called "enlightened" blogisphere too afraid to take on the truth about that fateful day, while simultaneously running around like chickens with their heads cut off, or wringing their hands and wondering why nothing's really changing.

some have argued we need to resolve this "politically"; my argument is that exposing the central lie of the neocon agenda IS THE POLITICAL SOLUTION.

like i said, if we're really a nation of fat, lazy chicken$#!+s, our country pretty much DESERVES to die.

thats for sure, froggy, it all boils down to who do you believe the government or your lieing eyes? had things not gone wrong for the event that day i believe fewer would have died , the key to the hurried esculation of that day is in one radio call that was being monatored by thoes involved!

as for the jobs work programs in rebuilding our infrastructure , how many of you have ever swung a pick for eight hours ? ever bent over for hours pulling concrete rakes on building floors on highways , used a jackhammer , a gas opperated tamper , in the summers heat the winters cold and snow and thats only just a laborers job, can you walk steel on a high rise building , build the wooden structures that they pour concrete in for foundations , ever wired up a building for electricty, laid sewer pipe lines ,water lines , ever used rivits to put a steel bridge together, well probaly few of you have , and few of you will want to, to begin with they will have to train you that takes time and money its not like everyones going to stand around looking at the plans on the job or be a foreman ect ect , personaly i wouldnt put my faith in a structure built by jacklegg construction workers, and whats the pay scales going to be? will you be satisfied getting the pay a laborer does when you think you should get as much as a carpenter or a pipefitter, jesus youll be cutting each others throuts out demanding the same pay for a lesser job skill!

thats what i thought who wants to hear someone talk whos got common sence its better to dream of pie in the sky, then face realitys, when you have a good question punch your ignore button , well ive been there done that the facts are most construction workers only work six months out of the year first off any construction site has to be surveyd ,then the heavy construction equipment has to come in and grade the earth , then the servayors have to come back and set up the job site for the projects then the laborers and carpenters start thier projects then as it progresses the rest of the trades come in as needed then when they dont need your skills till later on in the job your back setting on your ass, and they dont pay construction workers when thier setting on thier ass even obama wont, and its dangerous work , ive seen men burried alive in caved in ditches , fall from scaffolds backed over by heavy equipment , and whos going to pay your doctor bills if your still alive , well that remains to be seen , and all the while inflations going to eat up your pay check just like it allways does when the rich got thier hands on what you need to survive on, bread meat milk , you name it they own it, is like the old days where the company store got most of your pay check, but you knew that right? jesus wept!

Should this come to pass, we could convert schools into their secondary function as detainee centers to accommodate the crush of newly defined criminals. Or swap them, one for one, for non-violent drug offenders in prisons.

To be safe from prosecution, you would have to either monitor their online activities at all times, or block the chance of a child's access to internet connected devices, which includes their cell phone.

What about masturbation?

I think kids will find an outlet for their sexual instincts, whether they've seen naked ladies or not.

Boy, this bloke is lucky he didn't live to see the days of the internet.

Hands above the covers, Sonny-boy.

Bamboozled, you are so right on about your comment that this bloke is lucky he didn't live to see the days of the Internet.

New Scientist published a study that reveals that Internet porn is most popular in the conservative, Christian states, with Utah leading the pack.
