I listened to Michael Medved interview Jack Casill 2 or 3 weeks ago about them trying to say that Ayers wrote Obama's book. I knew it was B.S. then. Medved defended his guest right down to the core. That is how they start rumors, just make it up.
Well, The Dude's rally apparently went pretty well tonight. One local newsie guesstimated the crowd at around 30 thousand -- nearly ten times what Failin drew last week at a 'venue' (parking lot) just down the street. Springfield is about half a mil, en toto, and lethally white-bread, so a 30 thou turnout for something like this is nothing to sneeze at around here.
What surprised me is that I was able to listen to the speeches from my own window, over six blocks away. Most of it, anyway. About a third was either muffled or drowned by street noise.
Nothing new, really -- just what could by now be called "Obama boilerplate." For my own part, at worst, this is someone I can actually stand to listen to for the next four years. Haven't had that for quite a while.

If you guys have BBC America, Graham Norton (one of the funniest shows around) had a piece about American politics and it was riotously funny.
Norton mentioned a couple of weeks ago about the Palin porno which was advertising on Craigs List for actors. Tonight, he had the script and read part of it.

“This title shall supersede and preempt the application of any State of local law that prohibits or regulates gaming or the operation of bucket shops (other than antifraud provisions of general applicability)”
Could a case be made regarding this specific portion of the Act that it could be overturned retroactively as illegal regarding the infringement of State’s rights and any of the gains in turn be questioned regarding persons/corporations may of received during the Act’s inception 2000 to the present day?
H.R. 6054 (The Military Commissions Act) apparently offers retroactive Presidential immunity Pardon regarding war crimes. (just incredible)
Maybe we can use the term “retroactive” in a positive legal manner to clean up several of these matters and to possibly deter these types of bad legislation from ever being considered in the future….

inland people may digg it but the coastal folks are another thing.
Frankly, I think the whole issue of offshore drilling will fade into the mist rather quickly. Big Oil knows it's a bad investment, and while they may do a little, they won't pursue it with any real vigor. Mostly just lip service. And progressively less, as the demand for alternative energy increases.
Given that, I think "drill, baby, drill" will become a never-ending joke that immortalizes Palin's brazenly deceitful and delusional worldview, and will dog her political ambitions forevermore.
Though that effect may well be eclipsed by any number of things -- there are, after all, so very many tasty aspects of Palin for the Real Pitbull of Poetic Justice to sink its teeth into and never let go...

Palin did NOT "set up a program in Alaska" to give each citizen 3K. This program was set up in 1979, while Palin was in junior high school. She had nothing to do with it. The Alaska Permanent Fund is not "trade" or a "contract". It's a handout (although Alaska can afford it.) Alaska's oil money--or rather, the dividends off the interests off the royalties-- is being shared with all the state's citizens.

Caught this on the fly so I have few details. Local station is looking into people voting twice: here in FL (I think) and in GA (I think). They cornered one guy as he came out of voting and asked why he had just voted when he (according to records they had) had already voted! The flunky was older, overweight and white — so I'm assuming a McCaniac. This is just too good to be true. And if it is I will bust a gut laughing. Voter fraud from a... wait for it... REPUBLICAN!
