Totally not making this up: A group has formed on the Wall Street Journal Community Page, whose purpose is to complain that there are too many pictures of Barack Obama (The President of the United States, that Barack Obama) on the WSJ website.

John Amato: Thanks, C&Lers, for moving Eric Boehlert's book, The Bloggers on the Bus, from 25K to #734 on Amazon's list. We're looking forward to a lively book discussion here this Thursday at 9 am Pacific Time.

After owning a stinky, broken-down, piece of crap jaloppy for eight years, doesn't it only make sense people would want to show off their sharp new vehicle?

driven into a ditch by two drunks having three dui's between them. now the same jalopy needs to be fixed and the drunkards fan club a.k.a the republican party is pissing and moaning about the price tag (bail bond?). this must be the dems fault fer sure????

Had to be reminded by Jon Stewart that AIG was taken into public ownership under the Bushco regimes term. That and the TARP stimulus was also started as a Republican effort.

Ditto with Steele's pronouncement yesterday, that 'Republicans are no longer saying sorry' short memories and shorter morals...

Amazing what a little bit of Democratic pushed immunity for war crimes and other, does to Republican minds. They think they are untouchable.

And it looks like they are, mores the pity.

By one drunk who needed daddy's help to get through Yale and still only managed to eek out a C average and the other drunk who flunked out of Yale all together.

I guess if you're two underachieving criminal fucktards who screwed up the country and the world you're worthy of Murdoch's Wall Street Journal.

like they stole it!

that was one.

Last night, while meeting the source in O’Connell’s Irish pub in Alexandria, Alexandria police, who apparently had plainclothes police inside the St. Patrick’s Day-jam packed establishment, arrested my source for no apparent reason while I and the source’s wife looked on in shock. When I asked one of the men who forced the source to the ground outside why they were placing him under arrest, he shouted to me to “back off.” I asked the man if he was a police officer. His response was, “No, I’m a fireman.”

I then told the “fireman” that I was a member of the press, produced my credentials, and wanted to know what the charges were against my source. He then motioned to someone behind me who shoved me up against a police SUV and placed me in handcuffs.

In the eight years of the Bush-Cheney administration, I covered anti-war protests in Washington and never once did I face an arrest situation, although there were some close calls. My arrest-free journalism record was shattered last night in Alexandria, Virginia, while meeting a confidential source.

Dude.

What with the 'Civil Assistance Plan' last febuary, then the leaked 'C&R' thingy.

A good 'change' would be Gates kicked out of the DoD, and a Democrat (with some humanity) installed into the job.

That is troubling indeed.

having arrested a few my self over the years i've yet to meet a person who ever knew why they were being arrested. the problem in their minds is they never did any thing wrong it seems. our prisons are full of innocent people, just ask them. as for the "no, i'm a fireman" quip. this is meant for those who are spectators to arrests and truelly know "jack sh#t" about what has happened but never the less are experts, just ask them.
i would safely posit the expert, knowing "sh#t", just got too close, hence,"back off" was said by the "fireman". interference with an arrest is a crime as well.
and yes i am a god damn liberal who worked three days for and voted for our new president Barack Obama.

but I think the person you're referring to used to be with the CIA. Wayne Madsen, from an earlier thread, hardly a bystander is very familier with what goes on with many of the actions of the police and other law enforcement.

A person that is disliked in political circles.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_Madsen

And supposedly Darth had a plumber team after him last year, to fix the problem permanently...

..........disliked because he hates BLOODYISRAEL and is very vocal about it. Is that what pisses you off?

but CIA doesn't know any more about arrests than a librarian. mostly "bookish" types more about research than hands on. i'd be surprised if he even owned a pair of hand cuffs, never mind a gun.

before he became a journalist, go read his bio on Wikipedia.

regarding your comments about books !

And don't forget books can be dangerous, they can kill if dropped from a height onto somebodies head, used for breaking into hotels, or even toppling foreign governments... not forgetting their usefulness in being stack up and people standing on them with wires attached to their gonads.
Never underestimate the dangerousness of books.

navy intel. looks like mostly "elint" as i remember it's called. i don't see any hand cuffs or guns there. bookish type who doesn't know you can't interfere with an arrest. should have known the guy putting on the cuffs was not a "fireman".
according to wiki' he thinks the israeli mossad had something to do with gov. elliot spitzers hooker gate affair. me thinks this spells "nut ball".

Which is the consensual opinion of why the DoJ/FBI leaked details of Spitzer, and why they wiretapped him in the first place.

Remember no charges, no crime, just political embarrassment and a forced resignation.

what did mossad/israel have against spitzer??

haven't a clue here.

PS; try page four.

craigs list call girls or where ever he found her isn't much of a crime any how. but considering his position of sitting in judgment of others and he did that?? what a two faced....sorry i'm redundant, such as he was a politician and all.

He was the governor of NY state, ie; head of state. Bit odd that a federal agency (or people pulling strings) decides to remove a sovereign head through dirty tricks. Theres a word for that type of behaviour.

he was a lawyer and then attorney general for state of new york. as a cop, i would love taking him down for the hooker as no one sitting in judgment of others should be boinking hookers. o.k that sounds puritan and old fashioned but i think his wife certainly agrees???

most cops would try to arrest people for real crimes, not victemless crimes.

i would much rather arrest the john than the hooker. he's the real problem. the hooker is just a drug problem. most victimless crimes have their victims. most persons i've arrested were innocent, in their fuzzy logic, of any crimes. our prisons are full of totally innocent criminals. just ask them.

a lot of policeman and you don't qualify to clean their guns. You're the one that everybody hates. Not all prostitutes are drug addicts.

"if you really are or were a cop."

i was last night but will not be again until Saturday night..good night my little pilgrim.

the only hookers that aren't addicts are maybe a few of the high end ones. ronny come outside and see for your self. i'll let you clean my gun too but you wouldn't know the take down.

And

you wonder why people hate cops. What an ass.

ron, were picked up on a "b" girl sweep?? do i know you?

you were the pimply faced guy with the fuzzy hair!! i forgot to put your comb in your property bag. i'm sorry

3 days a week? What are you the mall cop? You watch too many movies.

its been real ronny. by a new comb.

vacation days, kind of like pert time. Hope you don't get a real job.

......was investigating the AIG bailout and the WALLSTREETBANKSTERS. He was right on the $$$$$$$, as I recall, and that is why he had to be taken out.

No.

He wasn't investigating the bailout. that was a long way off into the future.

Republicans don't like all the pesky words in them.

is 2 months old, yo.

Who was the source? Someone who was a co-conspirator of Stanford's?

(And that's a hell of a way to protect a source. Now anyone can go look up who was arrested in Alwxandria that day and figure out who it was- all because Madsen had to know what was going on, got arrested because he was getting in the way of cops doing their job. hate to tell you this, but the cops didn't owe Madsen an explanation as to why the source was being arrested- they owed it to the source)

And where's the follow-up article?

Sorry, I don't think we're getting the whole story from Madsen. That reads like a very one-sided piece that Madsen wrote to justify his actions.

who gives a rat's ass. It's owned by the great and powerful Murdach. Yeah, the neocon nazi fascist rightwing corporist pig that claims to be a news tycoon when in reality he is a propagandist.

has an established track record of running newspapers into the ground.

whiny ass titty babies I have ever seen.

Pictures? Grow up.

They are utterly ridiculous and laughable.

If you call now, receive absolutely free a commemorative Barack Obama coin.

Thanks for being "on top of things", Reid. Repugs try to throw corporate polluters under the bus and co-opt the Dems on the environment in the process. Steele's desperate enough to quote Mr. T to show how ready he is to take Obama "head-on". If you can't treat sick children at home in place of chemo, kidnap 'em. For an "open agency", the CIA liked to make exceptions about who could and couldn't be told about torture. Panetta's starting to sound as reliable as McCarthy. Security cops at L.A. trains stations abuse their powers. Arnie's props lead to low turn-out at the polls. From swine flu to pneumonia. Byrd's currently hospitalized. SCOTUS hates women who want compensation for pre-illegal maternity leave docking pay. It loves corporate corruption in the vein of Enron, though. But it has a problem with holding Asscroft and Muelle accountable for violating prisoners' rights. Putin hates gay rights. Congress hates health care paid for by taxes. Ms. Diane "Iraq War Vote" Feinstein e-mailed me personally to say that she was worried about any health care policy which would raise the deficit. Texas messes with the disabled. Mullen suggests we'll be stuck in Afghanistan for at least two years. A Providence mayor has no problem with a college student tax. Speaking of college, how'd you like to graduate and find yourself depending on food stamps? Another school shooting. An Ohio Christian school hates the prom. Salazar hates the polar bears. R.I.P. to the photographer who exposed our "progress" in Vietnam as a lie. Geithner hates capping exec pay. Wyeth allegedly ripped off Medicaid. Air pollution can screw up your DNA and give you cancer. The GOP is starting to be baseless. Parents think about the children. Kimmy is going to "prosecute" our journalist in June. Chicago bans baby bottles w/ BPA. GM is suddenly a Chinese business. A poll is rigged in favor of pro-life supporters. NH's governor supports gay marriage, while Castro's niece advocates gay rights.

And that is a fine mess of deciding how to treat his cancer. While I'm not sold on the idea of treating cancer with herbs and vitamins, he and his parents made this decision for themselves and I'm uneasy with the court's decision...

I am relieved tho that they weren't relying totally on prayer, however...

I wish the poor kid well.

vitamins, prayer and wishful thinking.

you don't get sick. *sigh*

a bottle of smelling salts, and a discount on a brand new fainting couch? Sounds like it to me!

well murdicKKK papers have to appeal to racists everywhere, even in the financial world.

to hosting an Obama "Health Care" Meeting here in Pittsfield, Mass. on May 26th.

Oh, yeah. This should be a freakin' RIOT!!

7:00 p.m. until ??? with "radical hand-outs" and hor'd'eourves (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong) and BYOB of wine.

Oh, yes....This will be lots and lots of fun!!!!

I'll make sure to put a blurb in The Berkshire Eagle.

Don't worry. We'll film the entire evening and post it on YouTube and ya'll will be the FIRST!! to get the link!!

Ha!!!!!!

:D

Hope you have lots of fun!

More proof that Washington hasn't ruined Craig Crawford. Today he gave a speech, and flogged his book at the restaurant where Jimmy Hoffa was last seen. It's a great cell phone post folks, but the sound level is high.

Of note
"The Brazilian leader has even suggested the two countries should consider trading in their own currencies - instead of in the US dollar - a sign, perhaps, of changing times."

Ruh roh, isn't that one of the real reasons we had to depose Saddam and why we're having a fit over Iran? I guess it's time to give more support to fascist elements in Latin America to help overthrow their silly left leaning govs. Back to the Monroe Doctrine so says Barack and Hillary!

If you really "respected the will of the voters", you'd do your job, and stop lounging around with Obama while taking credit for car emissions standards any Dem governor could have passed.

I've learned NOT to trust any Republicans on the economy, and esp. not Ahnold since he would rather cut benefits to the disabled rather than raise taxes on the able-bodied and able-minded who still have cushy jobs. Schwarzenegger has ZERO credibility with me.

Check out Solar Day on June 21, I don't care if it's Father's Day it's time for people to focus on sustainability. If I can do it by organizing people who want gardens, green energy and the like, despite having to raise my young children and combined with the factor of old fogies saying "Whaaaa...?" then it's past time for sustainability. www.solarday.com

Just sayin...

... if you ask me, there were WAY too many photos of that Alfred E. Neuman look-alike from 2001 to 2008

Actually, what surprises me is that Joe actually took the paper so he could look at it. He could've easily brushed the reporter off in order to make him look bad and/or paranoid, but he indirectly acknowledged the possibility that he might be right, or at least credible. I think what disturbs me about it, though, is that would suggest that our intelligence must be seriously watered-down, and our media very behind the times, if the second most powerful person in the country has to rely on a second-hand source for his info.

Apparently torture is still happening at Gitmo!

http://www.alternet.org/story/140022/?page=en...

"They are the Black Shirts of Guantánamo," says Michael Ratner, president of the Center for Constitutional Rights, which has represented the most Guantánamo prisoners. "IRFs can't be separated from torture. They are a part of the brutalization of humans treated as less than human."
Clive Stafford Smith, who has represented 50 Guantánamo prisoners, including 31 still imprisoned there, has seen the IRF teams up close. "They're goons," he says. "They've played a huge role."

The Army knew its soldiers could be electrocuted, but paid KBR bonuses, anyway!

Elizabeth de la Vega, a former federal prosecutor, examines the special prosecutor debate. It is important to get this right to ensure there are convictions for breaking the law on sanctioning torture.

http://antemedius.com/content/black-holes-and...

Yeh! That worked so well last time with Fitzgerald the bought.

is better known as KKK North, wall street chapter....

Joe Scarborough and Herald Ford just threw another snit fit defending the CIA and their use of torture. Harold used the story about what if your child was kidnapped wouldn't you want used whatever kind of interrogation to get you kid back. Of course he left out wouldn't you want the most reliable interrogation used to get your kid back. Then Joe went into a rant that about caused him to burst a blood vessel.

Jesus! Get this guy off the air.

Water Wars Preview: Dramatic increases in water bills expected globally - http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-7312-Miami...
Inflation, drought, new taxes, and expensive water projects are among the drivers of higher water bills expected around the world, despite the squeeze already on consumers as a result of the recession. If you're not already conserving water for ecological, scientific, or spiritual reasons, then you might consider saving water now for financial reasons!

The Cheney Dare: Indict Him for Complicity in Torture - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lanny-davis/the...
I think it is time to take him up on his implicit dare and indict him for violating the 1994 federal law against torture. Not to do so, in light of Mr. Cheney's arrogant public challenges, may reinforce the notion that Mr. Cheney can get away with lawbreaking, and be proud of it, because he is a former vice president, and because he is the tough, intimidating Dick Cheney who everyone (at least many) in the Bush administration feared.
So I think it's important to take Mr. Cheney up on his challenge, despite all the disadvantages that had led me to oppose prosecutions of the former administration.

War’s Psychic Toll -Bob Herbert - http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/19/opinion/19h...
"According to authorities, John Russell, a 44-year-old Army sergeant who had been recognized as deeply troubled and was on his third tour in Iraq, went into the counseling center on the afternoon of May 11 and opened fire — killing an Army officer, a Navy officer and three enlisted soldiers.
The three enlistees were 19, 20 and 25 years old. This is what happens in wars. Wars are about killing, and once the killing is unleashed it takes many, many forms. Which is why it’s so sick to fight unnecessary wars, and so immoral to send other people’s children off to wars — psychic as well as physical — from which one’s own children are carefully protected."

Dean Baker: The Health Care Industry: Protectionism the Free Traders Love - http://www.truthout.org/051809J
Suppose that people in the United States paid twice as much for our cars as people in Canada, Germany, and every other wealthy country. Economists would no doubt be pointing out the enormous amount of waste in the US auto industry. They would insist that we both take advantage of the lower cost cars available elsewhere and take steps to make our own industry more efficient.
For some reason, economists do not have the same attitude towards health care. Most seem little bothered by the fact that we spend more than twice as much per person as people in other countries, with no obvious benefit in terms of health care outcomes. This lack of concern is especially striking since health care is a far larger share of the US economy than autos, comprising 17 percent of total output, as compared to about 3 percent for autos.
Economists and other self-proclaimed free traders are anxious to use trade to reduce the income of manufacturing workers; they are very happy to have protection for highly paid professionals. After all, their parents, siblings and children can be doctors and dentists. They are unlikely to be autoworkers and steelworkers. So, we are stuck with a hopelessly bloated health care system that most of the economists and pundits say cannot be fixed.
Insofar as this is a true statement, it is because they and their wealthy friends do not want it to be fixed. It really is that simple.

The FEC has held that Recount Committee funds may not be used for anything other than recount activities. Therefore, recount funds can only be used to pay for post-election litigation concerning the casting and counting of ballots during the federal election and cannot be used to pay for any other legal fees.
Because the litigation costs Coleman for Senate ’08 seeks to pay are not in connection with the general election campaign that ended on November 4, 2008, the committee cannot use Recount Committee funds for these costs.

Ventura kicks much ass!
Anybody see Stewart interview Gingrich last night?
I thought Stewart had Gingrich on his heels pretty much the whole time.

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

Ventura was AlGores water carrier in Nam - real tough duty

eom

I believe you!

What branch and unit were they in? AlGore, The Army, 20th Engineer Brigade. Ventura, Navy Seal, UDT 12.
Where? AlGore, in Bien Hoa. Ventura, Underwater, detonating explosive devices.
What years did they serve? AlGore 1969-1971. Ventura, active 1970-1975.

With this data, you should now be able to match dates and times these two were in the same place at the same time, try the FOIA, and supply proof for your most believable claims!

That's all I can say. Wingnuts actually freaking out over pictures of President Obama? Jesus Christ! I mean expect that sort of thing from Billybob Nosepicker (aka your typical FOX viewer), but these are people who supposedly read the Wall Street Journal. They really are becoming unhinged, aren't they?

That's all.
