And don't forget to call Congress and tell them to vote for Henry Waxman for E&C. He's someone we need at this point in time.

Al Qaeda Insults Obama: ‘He DOESN’T Pal Around with Terrorists’

Cangress?

CAN! :-D

that's how we say it in the midwest :)

Tim Robbins sends a scathing letter to the election board in NY.

Who knew...there is a link between Focus on the Family and Blackwater. Unreal. Why this surprises me, I don't know.

THANK YOU Warren Street! A-fucking-men! If you are bitching about every selection by Obama...PLEASE READ THIS! (Then go away for a while.)

Can't quite call 'em born again- except that Erik's late wife was very Catholic, so Mr. Blackwater converted- but now has strong ties to the Acton Institute...And, you know, his sister, Betsy, is married to Mr. Amway, jr., Dick DeVos, and the DeVoses are amongst the top 5 or 10 donors to the GOP and its candidates..........

13. Fed also plans to provide billions to $3.6 trillion money-market fund industry
14. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are bleeding cash, want to tap taxpayer dollars
15. Washington manipulating data: War not $600 billion but estimates actually $3 trillion

29. The "antitaxes" message is a new bubble, a new version of the American dream offering a free lunch, no sacrifices, exposing us to more false promises

Did you really have to post this? (opening a can a beans)...lolol

Aw

Sorry, sweetheart. Don't get all gassed up on my behalf. :-D

The 2nd REPUBLICAN GREAT DEPRESSION indeed!

Seems they are really really good at something. Sucks for the rest of us though.

Bwahahahaha!

Bluegal, your films are just so fab!

BTW, who was that guy? (The one at the beginning and the end?)

Obama's campaign manager!

This is the best take on Al Qaeda's House Negro bit.

I so love this blogger. Seriously. Read his shit. He rocks!!

I've been thinking about the Al Qaeda's film this evening. Here's my take on it. "Hey buddy, come here and sit down. Let's talk one on one. My name is Planet Earth. Now you've been killing the people who live on me. It's been tried before and they stopped the killers. The MAJORITY don't put up with it. They will draw a line in the sand and you will not cross it, or they will kill YOU. Now go in your caves and yell at your 'god' in the sky all you want. Impose it on others and you'll suffer. Now get going before I flood myself again and start over!"

Cave negroes.

Classic!

What an excellent piece of writing!

His posts are always funnier than hell...and pointed, to boot. I love his takes on just about everything. This one had me laughing out loud (literally).

I have been reading his blog for some time. He's a really nice guy, too.

and I miss George Carlin every single day also. I picture what he would say about the election and the republicans.

... who knows, maybe he helped make it happen!

I'm sure he did in his messages, He said let's put the homeless on all the golf courses, there's plenty of room there!...

Carlin was truly one of a kind.

Field is an outstanding writer. Kudos to him (& you)!

With winners projected early in the evening these days, it can be easy to forget that actual ballot counting continues long after election night.

As the count currently stands, Barack Obama has received a staggering >67 million votes, and leads John McCain by almost 9 million ballots and 7 percentage points.

McCain's tally has fallen below 46%, while Obama's is edging up to 53%.

And, of course, let's not forget about all the fraud (deliberate misinformation like "Democrats vote on the 5th"; computers that vote for McCain no matter which button is pressed) without which the numbers would be even better.

Suck on that, Center-Right-Rationalization-Mongers. Mr. Obama has a mandate.

Looks like that African-American butler to the White House mentioned in that WaPo article is getting a movie deal.

European doctors successfully transplanted into a woman a new windpipe made partially from her own stem cells. She has so far not experienced the kind of "rejection" transplant patients often suffer. She is alive and well.

That must really make the fundies upset.

Barry's Homeland Security pick. Zimbabwe is still screwed. GE has to recall over 240,000 conventional ovens.

It just keeps failing, and failing, and failing.

In this edition, Bill looks into his Kristol Ball, and predicts:

• McCain will win the election.

• Ted Stevens will win in Alaska because the voters will rightly disbelieve a D.C. grand jury.

Note to Bill: Grand juries do not convict. They indict. Tell folks an elitist told you.

The Senate hates the working-class. Bush hates endangered species. Spain finally acknowledges the Franco victims.

Too bad the rest of Texas couldn't be this generous.

It cut out the sodium in their meals.

Today my country's elected officials will vote wether or not to embrace the EU becoming more united and centralized, under a 'president' and other features. We, the people, did not get the opportunity to vote on it like they did in Ireland. Probably because the elected officials know that we would most definetly vote down such a fatal blow to us as a nation. They ofc would blame such a failure on our ignorance and not our fear of becoming merely a muted province in a greater nation.

Just by voting nay in Ireland the Lissabon treaty has already failed and can not be used, since all nations need embrace it for it to pass as law. But the lawmakers seem to delibaretly neglect that fact and push on as if nothing has changed.
If the vote passes here in Sweden, Ireland will stand alone and will soon falter of the peer pressure.

What my and many's fear is about this treaty is that nations that today already possess most of the power in EU, Germany France Britain, will become even more powerful and be able to neglect small nations such as mine.
For example: Religion is a huge part of both Germany and France and they could make laws with religious basis for all the EU without having to present the idea and get a approval from all (maybe soon not to be) sovereign nations.

Just thought some of you might be interested in a non-US issue.

Oh, and how 'bout those pirates outside of Africa. One would think that the shipping industry would put doussins of gps tracking devices on their cargo and ships with that kind of threat.

Hugin:

Just thought some of you might be interested in a non-US issue.

I've followed the progress of the EU with interest, though admittedly not in as much detail as I would have liked in the past couple years. I find it fascinating how all of the issues surrounding the creation of the U.S. Constitution are playing out in Europe right now.

If it's any consolation, the framework here (bicameral legislature, each house equal, one based on sovereign status rather than population; electoral college) in America has actually given smaller states more influence than they probably deserve. It would be interesting to see the EU come up with something similar, I suppose.

On the other hand, our Constitution has done little to prevent the growth of the federal government, and we no longer teach civics here, so few people really know how the framework is supposed to operate.

By the way, I certainly support Sweden's desire to remain secular. People mention that an atheist like myself would enjoy Sweden, and Scandinavia at large. I haven't actually been there yet. Should I head up there? I hope Obama's election at least redeemed us Americans a tad in the world's eyes. :)

Taser used on a pall-bearer.

Not asking you spam them, but feel free to respond to their asinine comments such as the following:

I cannot imagine it will stay dormant forever, especially in an administration that will likely try to implement some of the things Mikey loves (to happen to other people), like stealing via outrageous taxes from anyone who works for more than a living wage and populist crap like bread and circuses. Free money for all! Tax the rich until there are no rich anymore, it’s only fair!

The problem here is that Obama won, at least in part, because he toughened his message on terrorism.

They tax their employers to death and regulate their companies into the ground.

The LAPD has to make a huge pay-out for police abuse.

)O(

What does the poll question, "Is the country on the right-track or the wrong track," really mean?

I would answer no, because of bad economy, policies favoring the rich, too much religious incursion into our government, whereas someone else can give the same answer, but believe it's because we're getting away from trickle down economics and want more religion in the state.

I can't think if a better way to make sure Waxman WON'T get it that letting congress know the people want him to have it because we expect him to actually do something.

The AFA is staging a boycott on companies that are inclusive during holiday season and use languagae that would make Jews, Muslims, Hindus, atheists and others feel welcome.

The right wing is demanding, under threat of boycott to economically hurt any company that does not specifically mention Christmas. They do not care if a store is not Christian-owned and they do not care who they hurt.

I have reprinted their list, with all appropriate contact information. Please pass alonmg, asking other progressives to shop from these stores and contact the companies in appreciation.

We need to neutralize the hate these people spew out.

Spread it far and wide.

I have the list up at:
