Adam Green from Open Left spotted one of those Fox News ambush crew outside an ACORN gathering yesterday and decided to have a little fun with them on behalf of Amanda Terkel.

It was Griff Jenkins, there on behalf of Glenn Beck (who barely used Jenkins' stunt on his show, since it was not exactly a success), complete with a small red carpet he rolled out for ACORN officials. Mind you, it was Jesse Watters, not Jenkins, who perpetrated that outrageous stalking of Terkel, but then, the whole ambush-crew approach is such a journalistic travesty it doesn't matter.

Besides, we've seen Jenkins besiege a hapless history prof with bogus misrepresentations of his work, so it's not like he's an innocent in this. And who can forget Griff getting smacked down by Barney Frank?

Indeed, this whole ambush-journalism thing doesn't seem to be working out too well for Griff. He certainly wasn't prepared to deal with Green. Karmic payback and all that.

HA!
Take THAT ya idjit!

Why a red carpet? Because Beck wants to say that ACORN is a bunch of socialists? What a pathetic boob. Beck needs to be taken off the air both radio and tv.

I don't get it... linkee not workee...

Linkee no workee for me neither too!

Is that a reference to Amanda Terkel?

.

To do this endorses the tactic. They should leave that kind of BS to the desperate right.

this is not BS, nor is it desperate, and it certainly doesn't endorse the tactic

kudos to adam green

I hate the tactic, but I'm really torn about this. An asshat like this should know what it's like. Turnabout's fair play and all.

I use to think we should stay above this. Now I don't. These bastards will lie and smear anything. From the true definitions of words, to the most decent of people doing good work.

This is just one of the tactics they employ to fool the chronically stupid who still follow them. If the MSM and corrupt bluedogs have taught us anything, it's that corporate fascism is not going to go down easily. We are going to have to fight these bastards in the political trenches, like it or not!

LOL.

Oh Please! It's being done to Faux news...it is TOTALLY appropriate. And well deserved.

What is with the Bow Ties?

It's code dress signifying that he's an ass hole.

he was a neo-maxie-zoom-dweeby...but asshole works just as well.

Thanks, LNM! And I thought I was the only freak who would ever use that reference! Now I've got to go watch The Breakfast Club for the 100th time! LOL!

nope you ain't the only one!

Tux and red carpet interviews. Perhaps it is homage to O'Reilly's roots as an entertainment reporter.

He is hoping he will eventually have all the prestige of Carlson Tucker...

Did he ever eat his shoes?
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/07/09/tuc...

Speaking of this guy, he was on Greta's show last night, discussing why Obama made the comment he did about that "unnamed" network (Faux News) and why Obama doesn't do interviews with them.

That frgn' Carlson called Obama the "chosen one." That's Limpball speak. Why in the world would Obama want to go on a network which continually calls him names...not only like the "chosen one," but like "socialist," "communist," and "fascist"???

)O(

That's to distinguish him from the "court-appointed one."

By 69,498,215 American voters.

So fuck yeah, he was fucking CHOSEN, bitches!

Is that Obama never said "FOX" or even indicated it might be a cable news channel. No, FOX, knowing that they are partisan hacks, ASSUMED that FOX is what he meant and while I'm sure they are correct, methinks she protests overmuch...

or want you to believe that they are. Griff doesn't seem too bright.

)O(

Should I wear a bowtie than?

)O(

That would be ever so a change in my de rigeur couture.

Seeing that I'm usually in blue jeans, and white t-shirt with one sleeve rolling up a pack of Gauloises.

I didn't know Gitanes and Galouises were still around...

Actually they both are but they're no longer owned by the French, but Spain, but they're still headquartered in France.

Headquarters sounds painful

Kind of like me after half a cup of Oolong.

I haven't seen a pack of Galouises in more than a decade.

toronto, ON, Canada. All you could want to see.
Not Gitanes tho. Miss those.
As for 'dark tobacco', i'll stick to my cuban. cigarrettes, that is. )

was of the "blonde" persuasion.

Not that I am much of a smoker, but I always associated "brunette" tobacco with Turkish blends.

)O(

Gauloises and Gitanes uses Turkish blends.

Blonde is more Virginian, and they seem more sugary

(Doctors told me I have to give up sugar.)

And I smoke the Brunes non-filtered.

What honks my cheese off is you can no longer buy Morlands of Grosvenor Street.

has more of a greenish/reddish hue...
you guys are smokin teh schwag.

until they gave up the Manhattan sophisticates playing the piano in their ads and replaced them with that solo Western eliminationist type spokesperson who probably had a cowboy hidden in his saddlebags for them cold nights punching doggies.

)O(

Sounds more like sinsemellian.

Are you going to meet up with rest of the T-Birds later and talk about your "Greased Lightning"?

:)

)O(

It was a full on tux, and it was so that he could be seen on the red carpet interviewing the elites as if he were at the Oscars.

That was fun to watch. That silly shit standing there in a tux with his little red carpet and then the mean old blogger comes along and messes up his big boy plans. I betcha he cried once the camera was not on him any more.

For a brief but horrifying moment, I thought Bill Nye the Science Guy had gone over to the dark side!

Bill Nye kicks ass!

JT, what you said.

Besides, if you REALLY want to do this kind of stuff, better find someone else to do it. Adam Green, for one, should stick to blogging and leave making interviews to people who can put 5 words together without sounding soooo terribly annoying.

not a professional journalist, which kind of is the point, is it not?

regardless, the "i'm working here" response is too funny for words as it is meaningless for these types, and a response o'rielly would lambast if given the chance.

how Jenkins immediately took control, made an issue out of something irrelevant and never answered Green's question?

Rightwingers are very good at doing that. Green was left to stammer on and look foolish. (And why was Green asking him about a Moody quote from 2004?)

Because there is more foolish to Green than his looks?

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

Can I have the 3 minutes of my life back that I wasted watching this?

What was the point, exactly?

Cue the chewing gum clip.

after a binge at taco bell...

responsible for anti-Hispanic sentiment than FOX, Lou Dobbs, and Tom Tancredo combined. I did like the Chihuahua, though.

"caca" part of the Macaca term...

Pardon me while LnM repairs his busted buzz.

all that coffee I chugged this AM...

was aimed at acknowledging that my lack of a PhD made me stupidly step on your very funny joke which I obviously did not get because my linkee no workee.

ricky...
If your linkee is on the blinkee...you should go see a Doctor right away!

Slicey dicey no workee for linkee?

And after I see the doctor and he prescribes something, what if my linkee workee for four hours after I turn off my computer?

a hooker.

Perhaps he has something for me.

... you have some serious self esteem issues. LOL.

Taco shells stuffed with chihuahua caca.

that were closed for serving Chihuahua's in the sixties. I could never figure out if it was a desegregation issue, an animal rights issue, or a matter of culinary discrimination.

One tried to reopen, but their ads proclaiming
"We no longer serve dog food" did not work. Perhaps if they learned better English and said "We no longer serve food to dogs" they could have made a go of it.

This is great!

I'm just curious if Beck or O'Reilly will show part of this clip and twist it to their advantage somehow?

Poor Mr. Griff...looked mighty uncomfortable!

It would most appropriate to stalk and ambush Jenkins at his home or while he is shopping. You could then explain that you will not record or air your video, since you think this sort of behavior is reprehensible, but you wanted to give him a feeling of what it is like to be stalked and ambushed. You might try asking him a few of those patented Fox News questions -- the ones with blatantly false premises and misinformation -- and then demand a yes or no answer. Keep repeating them and then call him a coward for refusing to go on the Keith Olbermann show, even though he was never invited.

the things we do for Luv

They need to keep this guy's visage out front and center so everyone recognizes him when he comes a courtin'.

And maybe some rappers posse could pound him down.

attempting to crack another organization, named after a nut!
Oh, the irony ;)

Considering that CNN asks us to do their reporting, I would think that anyone with a cellphone capable of video can call themselves a freelancer for CNN. Therefore, all of us should be able to walk up to the ambush interviewers with a cellphone camera and try to get an interview. If the interview interferes with their ambush, well, that's just one of the hazards of in your face, hard hitting journamalism.

I know it's not nice to make fun of people's looks but I swear this guy looks like the cartoon character you would draw if you wanted to show a pompous little ass nerd.

But these are TV people so their looks are their livelihood.

Have you managed to tie up your belongings on top of Martini's head using his ears yet?

Nope I gave up on that. By the time I secured my wallet, camera and cell phone, the little dude couldn't stand up under the weight. So on to plan B. Trouble is, I don't have a plan B.

)O(

Assroid.

Everyone should become an ambush journalist.

Pretty good. Instead of saying 'So you're saying 'No comment'', he should have said 'So we can report that you don't agree with the VP of Fox News' since he never did agree with what the guy said about mourning troops. Points to Griffin for stalling, however.

There was something very 'Mr. Show' about Green and Griff interviewing each other simultaneously, each with mirror-image cameramen behind them, that made this seem more silly than useful.

Still, it WAS nice to see Griff argue that, because he was 'working', he was somehow off limits to such a spontaneous interview... as if the only time he deems it appropriate to ambush someone is personal time.

Fox News has manipulated the video of this encounter to make the blogger and acorn look bad
http://www.thefoxnation.com/media/2009/06/18/...

Are you actually WATCHING FOX? Will it do me any good at all to point out that they don't care whether you like them or not, as long as you WATCH them? They are going to keep doing exactly what they are doing now as long as people, right or left, watch them doing it.

one brand manager spots the other over his cubicle wall?

What's in your wallet?

But it had to be for Faux's victim status to fly:

FOX News' Griff Jenkins covered ACORN's 39th Anniversary Gala Awards honoring Sen. Charles Schumer, Rep. Luis Guiterrez and Rep. Maxine Waters at the National Education Association building in Washington, D.C. on June 17, 2009. Our cameras were banned from the event, but ACORN allowed far-left bloggers to attend. A confrontation occurred outside the building. Watch Glenn Beck tonight at 5 p.m. ET for the full report!

ACORN seemed to do the right thing by banning and dissing FOX
and along comes Green doing his lefty blogger turnabout thing and gives FOX something to use in manufacturing more outrage among its crackpot viewers.

I hope this episode does not send some fringe lunatic over the edge resulting in death to Smootchie.

but it was very, very, very heavily edited. Jenkins was a coward and cut out the parts where he looked like a jerk and where Green pushed the Moody memos. Heaven forbid the FOX News audience get to see the unedited version and decide for themselves.

See Jenkin's video of the Acorn event and his edited version of Green's ambush here: http://www.foxnews.com/video/index.html?playe...

Hilarious! Disrupting Faux Noise ambush interviewers should become a favorite game for progressive video bloggers.

More like this, pleeeeeze!!

is that Green busted Jenkins in the middle of pulling a publicity stunt for a news channel. Jenkins then ended up acknowledging on camera that bloggers are legitimate media.

Like it or not, Jenkins got a taste of his own medicine. No one was hurt. Good on Green.

This was no fun
no takedown
no camera ambush.

This was a waste of time
a waste of camera juice
a waste of cameraman's time.
a waste of my own (DELETED) time.

And all I can see Green having accomplished is giving (DELETED) Glenn(DELETED) Beck something to fill dead air time in his show with.

So, (DELETED) you very much, Mr Green. Yuou should skip the middle man with the bowtie and his carpet (what an IDIOT) and go work for faux news rightaway. They're gonna love you. For one, you may be an ace in progressive ideas and what not, suuuure, but know (DELETED) zero about journalistic tv performance.

Green actually reminds me of Colmes. A scruffy but just as helpless, indecisive Colmes.

as well.

)O(

Better than a waste of the cameraman's juice.

good one!

so i do not know why you, like griff, want to hold this to the standard of a "journalistic tv" performance which really is a low bar anyways. and i agree on the execution, adam forgot to call griff a coward for not answering the question, not to mention call out griff's deceitful use of overstating a blog's stature to play the victim card of not being allowed in as a "reporter". shame on adam, shame, shame; er, i mean kudos, kudos for wasting your time and griff's.

HOW COME YOU'RE ALLOWED INSIDE AND WE'RE NOT? Because you're not aa news reporter, you're a propaganda spreader. Almost what I use to spread manure on my lawn.

?

"political radar screen," you're an idiot.

one of the protesters interviewed by sam seder accused him of being sent by acorn; yes, acorn is part of the grand conspiracy to silence those who think letterman should be fired for joking about sarah palin's 18 year old daughter.

say's he's working for a living and he can't get what they're giving

the poor man... be easy on him, he's working!

And why don't right wingers understand that First Amendment? It has to do with government suppression. Acorn is not the government and can keep anyone out they want to keep out.

thing-I am enjoying it now! I have always though Griff looks like a reject from Revenge of the Nerds!
I want to know what the hell happened when that big guy came over and knocked some camera equipment over or something.???

That was every bit as embarrassing to the viewer as a regular Fox News ambush. It is a shame the left feel compelled to have the quality of their reporting lowered to the level of their opposition. As for the right... wasn't "dick-in-a-bowtie" some other right wing media blowhard's patented schtick. Tucker-something-or-other. I forget his name now that he's abandoned the bowtie.)

The little fox reporter Griff got in a hissy when he thought press was invited and he wasn't allowed in.

Griff: "Do you believe in free speech?"

Adam: "Of course I do. Do you believe in property rights? Acorn has the right to let in whomever they want. If they say press is allowed and you aren't, it's because Fox news is not legitimate media. Even if it was, they have the free speech right to lie to you about letting you in".

Conservatives always misunderstand free speech. Acorn's free speech rights include the right to NOT speak.

... to bar partisan clowns pulling a PR stunt like showing up in a goofy bowtie and hauling their own red carpet.

Griff: You might want to read the text of the First Amendment. It's about the GOVERNMENT regulating your speech. Not about the Federalist Society refusing to let in members of the Daily Kos to their awards dinners.

It does not say that every organization has to allow all members of the press to attend all functions.

It states

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Dig?

Are you by any chance college educated?

I actually learned this stuff in Junior High School.

)O(

Was it Catlick?

Look how mad the Fox robots got. I hope they do the same to Watters.

But aren't a lot of employees and former employees of acorn complaining about financial practices and corruption within acorn.
Adam should do some reporting on that, show he's not just pulling for one side, but for the people and justice.
