This story also explains their repressed homosexuality.
"Recruitment efforts at the churches, which are predominantly white, involve fight night television viewing parties and lecture series that use ultimate fighting to explain how Christ fought for what he believed in. Other ministers go further, hosting or participating in live events.
The goal, these pastors say, is to inject some machismo into their ministries — and into the image of Jesus — in the hope of making Christianity more appealing. “Compassion and love — we agree with all that stuff, too,” said Brandon Beals, 37, the lead pastor at Canyon Creek Church outside of Seattle. “But what led me to find Christ was that Jesus was a fighter.”
Totally insane.
and Rev. Dobson, Jr. so we can recruit more fighters ot our side.

Reminds me of my local casino broadcasting the Shepard's Chapel to it's late night gambling patrons. On TV's 20 feet high above the floor the pastor talks about the bible and sin while the patrons dump their coins into the slots.
Reminds me of when I was at a nudie bar on a slow day. The customers who were there were staring at a big screen TV at some football game.
The women working there as dancers and staff were getting frustrated. Guys might glance at them for a moment if they said something to them, but before you knew it their eyes would be drifting back to the screen, with little more of a response than, "Uh huh..."
I recalled one strip club employee saying to another that she knew those TV's were a mistake.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
when he's talkin' to Republicans. PERFECT.
Obama is going to out-wit, out-play, and out-last them all... and he will DRAG the Democrats, KICKING AND SCREAMING, into a new era of intelligence and common sense in Washington DC.
Obama is a DLC republican-lite, and as far as I can tell, he is going to have his ass handed to him if he doesn't grow up soon himself, and start acting like a real democrat.
DLC republican-lite is NOT the future of the democratic party. Otherwise, they will have no future!
Rush Limbaugh is what a smart person thinks a stupid bigot sounds like.
and one of only two Democrats elected in the last 32 years.
I believe you use the same name for the other. Seems they are the past, present and future of the party and all the ass handing has been done by them to their opponents in both their own and the other major party.

carter was the last democrat and like clinton, he was from the South. Obama is DLC, repug-centrist, which means corporate profits uber alles. the DNC needs an enema.
Some stuff you can't make up!
Obama has the bully pulpit and he has to start using it, unlike Carter.
Clinton and the DLC got their ass handed to them in 1994. FDR had built them a 60 year majority before that. I don't remember too much democrat love for the next twelve years.
The only thing that can keep DLC Obama going if he stays on his current path, is the stupidity of the republicans and their evil conservative agenda.

In 2006, Benjamin Koellmann bought a condominium in Miami Beach. By his calculation, it will be about the year 2025 before he can sell his modest home for what he paid. Or maybe 2040.
Benjamin Koellmann paid $215,000 for his apartment in Miami Beach in 2006, but now units are selling in foreclosure for $90,000. “There is no financial sense in staying,” he said.
Barbara P. Fernandez for The New York Times
New research suggests that when a home’s value falls below 75 percent of the amount owed on the mortgage, the owner starts to think hard about reneging on a home loan.
“People like me are beginning to feel like suckers,” Mr. Koellmann said. “Why not let it go in default and rent a better place for less?”
After three years of plunging real estate values, after the bailouts of the bankers and the revival of their million-dollar bonuses, after the Obama administration’s loan modification plan raised the expectations of many but satisfied only a few, a large group of distressed homeowners is wondering the same thing.

if the market goes back up and that person wants to buy again, his credit will prevent him/her from getting a loan. You can't just live for the moment, you have to plan long range. The real question that person should be asking is "Can I still afford the payment?"
are flying air-express to foreign countries. the market won't ever come back. there is no industrial base, in a large sense, to support ant prospects of long-term growth in the economy. that is how they are planning it and your gubmint won't do a thing to help you. As you can see and hear, all solutions are being funnelled through some form of corporate entity. that is why the 'stimulus' has not really reached the people. most of the first 'stimulus' money went through states' hands into the states' favorite businesses.
right now is a good time to be politically connected.
Some stuff you can't make up!
spent on the stimulus, how much have you seen creating jobs? It's more likely the money was spent keeping existing government jobs functioning. I have a few favorite lines from the SOTU. The one where the stimulus provided one company $99 million to create 50 full time jobs! Effin incredible. Give me (or just about anyone) $2m and they should be able to turn that into a dozen jobs, and if you've got a good business plan then you can take your profits and hire more and so on and so on. For christ's sake, give anyone 100mm and they can hire a ton of people. I'd like to know what connection this fellow had.
As for housing, we came so close to loosing our home this past year we refinanced through our lender. We got an incredibly low rate but in exchange, had to add another ten years. Not really a bargain. But it's cheaper than renting, and if the market eventually goes back up we should be able to sell if we want to.
anybody remember "health care reform"? Yeah. Good times.
Expand Medicare for all. Reconciliation, only 51 votes. Problem solved. You can't negotiate with the party of no. They want to obstruct any bills that will benefit the administration at the expense of the American public.
bluedogs and dinos.
Some stuff you can't make up!
And it makes sense. That's why they won't do it.
China says opposed to Obama meeting Dalai Lama
February 3, 2010 01:35 AM EST |
BEIJING — China has increased the pressure on the United States by saying for the second successive day that it is opposed to any meeting between President Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan leader.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said Wednesday that "China resolutely opposes the visit by the Dalai Lama to the United States, and resolutely opposes the U.S. leader having contact with the Dalai Lama in any name or any form."
The United States has already brushed aside previous warnings from China, and says Obama will meet the Dalai Lama.

One of the most costly mistakes that the Obama administration has made is failing to realize that pragmatism only works for those who can afford it. We cannot afford pragmatism. Being pragmatic is a quality that I respect when the situation warrants it. It seems, looking back over the last year and listening to the State of the Union, that Obama has spent too much time pushing bipartisanship when the situation calls for a more unilateral approach to governing. Those who worked the campaign and voted for him wanted change. How wonderful it would have been to achieve the change we needed through a bipartisan approach. However, that did not happen. We expected that Obama would abandon the pragmatic, bipartisan approach to achieve the long list of things that we wanted from this presidency -- health care reform with a public option, repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," an end to the conflicts in the Middle East, and educational reform that gives us a better system and not just more standardized tests. While all these ideas have been talked about, so far none of these things have come to pass.
Some stuff you can't make up!
Regarding DADT, old, but still relevant. Now Japanese customers are experiencing those faulty brakes. Obama gets flak for breaking the rule about discussing what happens in Vegas. "Quality" Californian health care at yer service! Palindrone plays the politically correct card on Rahm. OTOH, she did have a point. AIG continues to reward incompetence. Sudanese hunger is up and child abuse in America is down. Vt. nuclear plant has a leak. The Pope doesn't care about gay people. R.I.P. campaign finance reform. Why would you want to return to China, fully knowing their human rights abuses? Waddya know? Autism isn't linked to vaccines. Murtha's out of commission. Rangel brings back the specter of reconciliation, while Douchele is already planning his next vacation. Iran's finally bending on sending uranium abroad. Stalemate in Illinois over Gubernatorial race. Religulous parents are charged with negligent homicide. Jesus would have approved of ultimate fighting.
Yes it seems that our republican brothers have decided that they are enemy's. They only care about helping themselves and what we need to do is get rid of them. Every last stinking one of them. Every republican in the senate and congress must go! It is the only cahnce the American people have.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!
Kindergarten GOP?
I was going to post that!
It is what I read at first glance.

I wonder if the repeal of DADT will make recognition of equal marriage necessary? Sooner or later the government will have to address the issue of boy/girlfriend versus partner/husband/wife.
