Bill O'Reilly uses Private Long's murder to try and justify his demonization of Dr. Tiller

Bill O'Reilly must really being feeling guilty subconsciously over the death of Dr. Tiller. But he's also looking to blame somebody else for his behavior and that somebody is NBC news. He is one sick person. He has the audacity to use the murder of our military recruiter named Private Long to his own advantage -- as did Malkin -- to try and convince his audience that he did nothing wrong in his vile behavior towards the late Dr. Tiller. The old faux comparison if I ever saw one. Has he no shame?
Last night on The Factor, BillO took up half his show trying to defend himself and used his favorite conservative professor, Brian Russell, to do so, as well as his favorite stooge, Juan Williams.
In his talking points he was upset that NBC was blaming him for Tiller's death so now tried to fake out the audience by saying that since NBC covers torture and the debate over closing Gitmo, they helped drive Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad over the edge to commit this atrocity.
O'Reilly: ..so here's my question. Is NBC complicit in the murder of Private Long? After all, that network has relentlessly branded America a torture nation. A nation run by human rights's violators. Didn't NBC news incite Mr. Muhammad to kill the soldier? The answer is no. The killer is a loon. The media had nothing to do with it. That is the truth. However, Private Long's situation will not be heavily debated on NBC News Because they're not much interested in the truth. Brian Williams is a big problem here. Last night as managing editor of the Nightly News, he allowed a correspondent to highlight me as a villain in the Tiller situation. Williams takes his orders directly from NBC President Jeff Zucker, who is a committed liberal, who has completely ruined the news operation, turning it into the most far left outfit in the history of broadcasting....
Psych out. He didn't mean it. Hey, Bill. NBC, CBS, CNN, ABC, MSNBC and most every other legitimate news organizations never called America "Iraqi baby killers", and never called America mass murderers time and time again over the invasion of two Middle Eastern countries, but that's how you portrayed Dr. Tiller. The media in general did almost no reporting on the run-up to the war that was counter to any of the propaganda the Bush Administration put out. They've been covering the news, Bill, even if they've done it badly.
And by the way ... General Petraeus, your hero, believes that America made many, many mistakes, which includes torture, the breaking of the Geneva Convention, and creating an extralegal prison at Guantanamo Bay in his criticism of America's behavior after 9/11. So is he to blame for Mr. Mohammad's actions too?
Billie Boy continued on his anti-choice rant about Dr. Tiller and then said that the government has the goods that GE is doing business with Iran. And he's going to be looking into to it very, very closely. I feel bad for Pvt. Long's family, their grief must run deep, but now they also have to withstand Bill O'Reilly using his death in a crass, cheaply sensational way for his own self-serving justification for the inexcusable.
Bill might have a better argument about MSNBC.

Billo and the FOX Producers are afraid of being sued and are starting to pull a Dick Cheney.

BillO pissed me off last night. He received a long email from me, telling him why he is wrong. It still is unbelieveable to me that he keeps on pointing out the "60,000 fetuses" that Dr. Tiller apparently aborted....what the hell difference does that make in this story? The man was murdered. BillO seems to justify that murder when he keeps on talking about the "60,000 fetuses."
There is absolutely no comparison with how NBC/MSNBC has criticized the Bush administration and the war with how BillO criticized and attacked Dr. Tiller. NBC/MSNBC criticized a publicly elected official (Bush and his crew) who was accountable to the public, and, by the way, one who is heavily protected by the Secret Service. Tiller was a private citizen....not accountable to anyone but his patients and his God, if he had one. He had no protection.
The other thing that pissed me off last night was that BillO later had Glenn Beck on to defend him....Beck, of all people....that idiot clown on such a serious matter!?!? Oh, and by the way, Beck was on his "comedy tour" when BillO interviewed him last night.
Beck read his letter/email he sent to Immelt. He made some ridiculous assertions, so Beck also got a long email from me.
In his Immelt email, Beck said that using NBC's reasoning about not criticizing Tiller, then that would mean you could not criticize pedophiles or wife killers.
WTF? As far as I know, pedophiles and wife killers are illegal. The only people who think otherwise are insane. What Tiller did was legal, even though some disagreed with it. BillO personally attacked the man over and over and over again. Yes, Tiller had a lawsuit last year but was acquitted this....but BillO has bashed him for 4 years. There is absolutely no comparison with the way BillO criticized Tiller with how others would criticize pedophiles and wife killers.

Another thing that just dawned on me.....I have not seen any of the late night comedians (Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, David Letterman, etc.) even touch the Tiller story....and I am 100% certain they have not.

The NYT today made it sound as if they are building a terrorist case against the guy who killed the recruiter, citing visits to Yemen and I think Somalia, documents written in Arabic, and cd's made in the same.
Meanwhile with scott roeder the evidence seems to be building for insanity. However, to my mind that suggests christians do more harm than good when they target people like Roeder, and Plano's own Dena Schlosser, particularly with firebrand screeds that they can then deny.
MSNBC was able to show clip after clip of Bill O'Reilly and other Fox News Channel hacks telling the rightwingnut loons in their audience that Dr. Tiller was a "baby killer" and would "execute your baby for any reason".
But O'Reilly couldn't produce even one clip of MSNBC or any other network telling its audience that U.S. Army personnel are "torturers", as he claimed.

I think BillO's "I knew the left would blame me" (the next day) is actually an assertion of his smarting conscience. So forcefully and unskillfully trying to displace the blame (and therefore the guilt) reinforces my suspicions. He's culpable and he knows it. Same for Randall Terry.

IANA Dr either, but I can read and draw conclusions from my reading. The guy fits way more of the points on the list than not, and I don't think coming to the conclusion that this guy and many others in his 'class' have antisocial behaviour disorders is outlandish.
Perhaps not. It's one thing to say a person's behavior is crazy, and another to say that the person's crazy. I don't particularly disagree with any point except for the issue of guilt; O'Reilly turned the "I knew they would blame me" around so quickly that I believe it was because he had already made the connection himself . . . and it stung.
Now, since you went there, if you want to discuss a complete lack of remorse, read Randall Terry's presser [Edit - I think Terry more closely fits the profile that you suggested in your first post]. There's a lot in his rhetoric that worries me, and why Operation Rescue is not popularly considered a terrorist cult, even now, is a mystery to me.
There is no doubt in my mind that O'Reilly is as dangerous as the maniac who killed the doctor. He is a vile and pathetic human being. The man is saturated with anger and hate and it shows on his face when he is on one of his hate tirades. You can actually see the fury and madness in his eyes. I think the family of this murdered doctor should sue O'Reilly for more millions that the woman he sexually harassed sued him for. How easily he hides his own lewdness and degenerate behavior. It wouldn't surprise me if these right wing loonies started killing the judges that O'Reilly goes on his mad rampages about. Seems O'Reilly and his sick ilk are setting a tone of condoning the murder of innocent people who they disagree with. I can't help but think he will pay for his twisted, sick behavior.
It isn't just that the other corporate media or the top bloggers aren't calling soldiers or recruiters "baby killers" and "murderers". Name one, anywhere that singled out Private Long as a murderer even once, much less nearly 30 times. Name any who suggested violence against Private Long.
To me there is no question that Bill O'Rielly, along with the rest of the right wing echo chamber, incited this guy to target specifically Dr. Tiller. This to me is worse than just setting off a wacko to shoot up a random church because it had "liberals" in it.

The comparison to NBC is complete nonsense. Reporting on torture is not a call to assassinate a specific individual. Nor is RANTING against torture or war or abortion, for that matter.
But suggesting that a specific individual, who is not breaking the law, is a murderer and he, BillO, would like to take him out, is a lot different.
It's interesting -- O'Lielly's name-calling betray him for the low-life and ignoramus that he truly is.

It's always hard to pin blame on someone for merely speaking about something. Whether it be O'Reilly and his antagonistic speeches, or the news (on NBC or wherever) that show the problems of the world. When we start blaming people other than the people who committed the crime, we slide a slippery slope. There's lots of blame to go around for sure, but don't be so arrogant as to think you know exactly what it was that triggered someone. There was probably a large combination of things that contributed to the man's actions, and we're all partially responsible.
