Conservatives make fools of themselves as they cheer against America over the Olympics

Americans For Prosperity show their hatred for America.
During the Americans For Prosperity's "Defending the American Dream Summit," blogger Emily Marie Zanotti of American Princess interrupted a discussion about engaging the right online to announce that Chicago was out of the running -- and the room erupted in applause.
"If anyone cares, Chicago is out," Zanotti said. When the crowd asked what happened, she said, "The very first vote, they did not have any chance at even negotiating. They were out on the first vote." That news was met with more cheers and high-fives.
The Weekly Standard also embarrassed their publication with this one.
Soon after news broke that the International Olympic Committee had rejected Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics, which President Obama had personally lobbied for, Weekly Standard blogger John McCormack published a celebratory post on the magazine’s blog, titled “Chicago Loses! Chicago Loses!.” McCormack wrote that “Cheers erupt at WEEKLY STANDARD world headquarters.

But the post has now been changed. The reference to cheers have been removed and the title has been shortened to a non-exclamatory “Chicago Loses.” The current post neither acknowledges nor explains the changes that were made.
Rep. Alan Grayson had to remind the Republicans that they need to remember what country they live in.

The north east- (New York and New England) are sane, as is the west coast- some spots in the midwest, like Minnesota and Illinois- but the lower midwest and the south are klansville.....

THIS should have been Obama's first order of business after the Inauguration. Had he led the Congress to produce a definitive response to Global Warming perhaps Chicago might have had a chance for the Olympics.

You're reading too much into this. The Olympic committee may've feared that President Obama's participation was over-politicizing the process. They might think the world needs time to heal from the excesses of booshco. And they have political reasons of their own, perhaps new states coming up who want a chance to be host, or old countries that have not been hosts longer than we have. There are also practical considerations to consider like venue, site, newness of stadium etc.
But I can hear the republinazi's now, "See that, they held the Olympics in 1936 Hitler Germany, but not 21st century Obama America!!!"

Actually that is a consideration since there are so many of them.

Same thing happened to me. In Iraq War I, I had my doubts because we were fighting one dictator who was an ally of us to protect another dictator who was also an ally. But then in Iraq War (the sequel), that no longer seemed to work. It was always, "Oh I suppose that gives you only the right to speech, but not me!"

quite a bit (and lives in CA part time), I've found that Florida, esp the SE coast, is really not much worse than much of CA. The farther one gets from Miami (or college campuses), the more 'necky it is.
I've found Miami, while not perfect, to be one of the most tolerant places (in matters of race and culture) I've been.

That's good enough reason for Rio's getting the 2016 games as far as I'm concerned. If right-wingers want to make political hay by calling it a "defeat" for Obama, we shouldn't lower ourselves to their level. Personally, I'd rather Obama hadn't gotten involved, because it seemed to me too easy a set-up for a "loss" that right-wingnuts would jump all over. Besides, is hosting the Olympics all that great a thing? I sure wouldn't want to live within a thousand miles of an Olympic venue... and by-and-large, does the money generated by the Olympics really benefit the people who need help? As far as I'm concerned, the Olympics long ago ceased being about amateur athletics, and is all about money-money-money. You have to be a rabid believer in trickle-down economics to think that hosting the Olympic extravaganza is a positive. Just my opinion.
I don't know if I would have wanted to follow China's spectacular Olympic gala anyway. What does anyone remember about the Atlanta games? A water park and an Olympic bombing.
Remember the LA games? All I remember was the boycott.
