Joementum 2012

I know I shouldn't feed the ego that is Lieberman, but do you want to know how awesome Joe is, Mr. President?

Read this from the Weekly Standard.

Joementum 2012?

Is he the greatest senator ever? He fought for victory in Iraq, he's fighting for victory in Afghanistan, and he's fighting to save us all from Obamacare. Who needs Olympia Snowe when you've got Joementum?

Posted by Michael Goldfarb on October 27, 2009.

And we must never forget TNR's love for Joe.

(h/t Atrios)

And key Democrats correct Lieberman on the fiscal awesomeness of the public option. Are you listening, Joe?

I wonder how Connecticut feels since they support the public option by a wide margin:

Connecticut voters support 64 - 30 percent giving people the option to buy health insurance from a government plan.

Maybe it'll be Palin/Lieberman 2012 for this new crowd of voters.

I am completely convinced that Lieberman is an ugly little man to the core of his nasty wretched soul and he harbors a deep hatred for Progressives.

If a health insurance reform bill goes down in defeat because Joe Lieberman showed his true colors, then the bill goes down in defeat.

I would rather have no bill, then to give those "prostitutes" in Congress any more terms in office.

They could have done the right thing and given this nation a shot at true health insurance reform and ultimately true health care reform.

Almost every nation that has a universal health care system has its eyes on us, and they are deeply disappointed with how we've handled this health care debate. They absolutely cannot understand why we don't have universal health care.

The so-called richest nation in the world, sees health care as a privilege and not a human right.

We snub our nose at the ultimate truth ... which is .. that unless individuals are healthy, they cannot be productive members of society.

Countries that have universal health care know this.

We are Neanderthals, and a nation that oozes some of the most vile, greedy humans on the face of this earth.

I'm ashamed of Republicans, Joe Lieberman, Mary Landrieu, Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, Evan Bayh ... and any of the other cast of vile characters that create a stench in the Senate and The House.

I don't understand the amount of dismay and loathing being tossed at Senator Joe Lieberman. It is far beyond my understanding to put any type of blame on the Senator. Senator Lieberman is being exactly who he has always been. We should be grateful that there is at least one Senator left that is honest and true to his own set standard of morals.
If we are to blame anyone then the blame should go squarely to the thick voters living in the state of Conneticut that continue to be so easily swayed and blinded every 6 years. Conneticut is obviously a state of humans with very short memory spans and the rest of America continues to suffer for it.

I cannot vouch for anyone else's decision-making process, only mine. And I will not be voting for BH Obama (if he runs again) in 2012. I'm fed up, and I will not support any more of the Centrist/Corporatist (Neo-Liberal) Democratic candidates. If there is a Democratic Primary, or even a likely 3rd-party candidate in 2012, they will get my vote, even if I have to write them in on the ballot.

The subject of which brings me to my "confession". In 2000, I became so agitated at the bottom half of the Democratic ticket of Gore/Lieberman that I voted for Nader. Yep, I admit it. I was one of those pesky independents that helped Bush/Cheney win, all because I voted my conscience. I regret that GW Bush became the absolute worst President in USA history, and that the Republican Party has played a major role in the abject destruction of the USA economy, but I have never apologized for my vote in 2000 - nor will I.

Shit happens. And if my vote in 2012 means that another hypocritical sociopathic misogynistic Neo-Con wins the White House, then so be it. But I am hoping, beyond hope as a matter of faith - this from a Taoist-influenced Buddhist - that a Liberal Progressive might actually win in 2012.

Joseph Isadore Lieberman (I) Connecticut can kiss my shiny metal ass.

HR-676 is the absolute minimum HC reform that I will find acceptable.

When the terrorists blew 100 people in Afghanistan recently, I really thought that we will still have a robust public option. When they blew additional 100 people in Pakistan, I resigned to the fact that unfortunately we won’t have any public option at all. There are apparently much more pressing expenditures and if you don’t agree my fellow progressives, you betray the troops. Period. God, I really thought that something would change, but the madness of the last 8 years continues. Sometimes I wonder if the Republicans aren’t right when they say Speaker Pelosi is a very bad, lousy leader. They were right about John McCain by not electing him, they are right about Lindsey Graham shouting him down, they may actually be more reasonable than we think. By the way, they snapped out of their collective denial and started thinking critically en masse from the moment Beck hit Fox News’ “all time records”, so now WE unfortunately, by F**cking EVERYTHING UP with the majority in both chambers of Congress ARE, and rightly SO, about to become to them what conservatives were to us under Bush… pick the word, because we invented plenty of them. We are indeed at the end of the American Enterprise (aka. the USA) food chain and no Obama speech can change this sad reality any longer. We, just as conservatives and libertarians, are about to snap out of this collective trance and face some brutal reality: Health care for all? Bankers are failing, Muslims are killing us and you’re thinking about good, affordable health care? Naa. In such moments a reasonable person would say: I sometimes hate my country, since it’s priorities are truly, TRULY, f**ked up!! Maybe that’s why Glenn is watched by left, center and right (30%, 30%, 40%) and Keith and Rachel by the lefties (100% of the devoted, lefty audience). Let’s face it, we operate in insulated echo chambers -- the “majority” in Congress and their fellow lobbyists know that – they know that echo chambers may be a lot of things, but one thing they are not – when you scream so really, really loud that you think everybody hears it and agrees with it and all the promised changes will soon materialize, nobody can hear a shit. Isn't that right Speaker Pelosi, Ben Nelson and Joe? At least the Right has become a band of open minded, suspicious, critically thinking people so finally we may have a level playing field.

I didn't. I just think we, as a nation, will be better off, if both the left and the right get equally pissed off seeing where and how our money is spent. So kudos to Keith AND Glenn. Let's face it, without Glenn the righties would have never created the "anti government spending movement" (which includes military spending but that thought is still catching up with them) and instead would live in denial, reading their Bibles. The American engine (the people), that seemingly was broken ironically got fixed by the extremes of both left and right so how can that be a bad thing? At least now you can talk to them and they will understand you. That wasn't the case when Bush was the POTUS.

Never ceases to amaze me, he has no problem spending countless dollars on wars, but thinks money for healthcare is fiscally irresponsible. When are the pundits going to call these pukes out on this. Ask yourselves the question, the odds of being killed by a terrorist or dying from an illness because you a) can't afford insurance b) run out of coverage c) have a pre-existing condition.
Maybe the proponents of healthcare reform should couch their argument along those lines. Jesus h. Christ I'm a 50+ high school grad that's it no college. And I can come up with that. Obamacare is just another conservative talking point meant to sabotage health insurance care reform. The idea is to kill it by tying it to a black Muslim terrorist fist-bumping president, which of course works like a charm among the terminally brain-dead and those on the corporate payroll.

Obama didn't write any legislation - that is being done by the corporate congress. Funny thing is, Traitor Joe's attempt to kill this this legislation is the best chance to protect us from it. This legislation was written by insurance lobbyists. If it passes we are doomed.

Best scenario: it is defeated in the senate (thanks, Joe!) and we get to rain hell and damnation on obstructionists in the midterm elections next year. Then we will have a much better chance of getting some real legislation that protects people instead of corporations.

ThunderMonkey's picture

Obama ought to pull rank and have Joe's chairmanship of the Homeland Security committee yanked.

While Obama is at it... any Democrat that votes against the procedure to just have debate and vote on the health care bill should lose their chairmanship (if they have one) or whatever status that would take them down a peg or two.

Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.

Eric Paulsen's picture

My father said pretty much the same thing last night during the news (minus the dick sucking business).

The two reasons Joe said he will vote against the public option are: (1) he worries that it will be a further burden on taxpayers and (2) he thinks it will be a new entitlement.

Joe does not have a clue about what he is voting for or what exactly the public option is. Really very sad that this guy will just vote against something for no good reason or without really understanding his own reasons, other than say for Aetna.

First, the public option is to be entirely funded by itself. ie. it will collect revenue from the premiums it collects. There is absolutely no burden on the tax payers because of a govt run insurance plan.

Second, it is not an entitlement. People are not getting anything for free. They still have to pay for it out of pocket like any other insurance plan.

I think Joe is confusing universal coverage with public insurance plan. Universal coverage will use tax payers dollars to subsidize low income peoples insurance, which could be considered an entitlement. A completely different concept than Public Option. If Joe is against healthcare because he is worried about tax payers and entitlements, then he should actually be saying that he is against universal coverage. A completely different reason and a much more difficult case for a formal Democrat to make. ie. I am not for insuring more people.

Handypants's picture

Quite well - I say.

Eric Paulsen's picture

and WHY the Democrats welcomed him in with open arms is the questions historians will be asking for years to come when they research the demise of Health Care Reform. Why doesn't Joe CARE what 64% of Connecticut thinks? Because he is paid by the lobbyists NOT to. Because he is a one man Republican sleeper cell. Because the Democrats are too soft to actually DO anything about it. Because he is a scorpion, it is his nature.
