Lil' Luke told Andrea Mitchell that Mike Pence and Gov. Daniels had a great opportunity to get into the Senate election race now since Bayh just screwed the Democratic Party and decided to not run anymore. Lil' Luke was very excited about this report because it turned a bad news day into one of great excitement, but obviously he got horrible information from his village informants.
See, the problem is that there isn't enough time for Pence or Daniels to gather all the signatures needed to file as a candidate.
The GOP is stuck with Coats because it's too late for Pence or Daniels to file. But because Coats and Bayh did file, the state Democratic Party gets to pick a Bayh replacement. Early speculation is that Ellsworth can have it if he wants it and if he doesn't, it'll go to Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel or ex-Rep Tim Roemer, Ambassador to India. It has now been confirmed that Harold Ford hasn't flown around Indiana in a helicopter or filed to pay taxes there.
Mike Pence came out with a statement that he isn't running. The Village loves these types of stories much more than actually informing Americans about important legislation. What the heck is Lil' Luke talking about?
Maybe this is a tad off topic, but am I the only one that feels no significant loss when a Blue-dog Democrats that already voted like a Republican decides to leave?
No, I wouldn't want him replaced with a Republican, but who'd know the difference if he were?

Why the heck would Daniel's run for Senate? It's a well known fact he has his idiot mind wrapped around running for President in '12. What are these pundits idiots, for him to run for Senate half way through a governor's term would make no sense, unless he wasn't running for President. And Ditch Mitch has obviously had his sights set on the White House since he illegally got elected 6 years ago!
I wouldn't mind seeing Roemer in for Bayh, he's not a progressive but he's not a Repub in Dem clothing that Bayh has been.

As far as Bayh goes, good riddance. If Obama had a clue, he'd have the Dem party find a good candidate, like Roemer, and then work hard to make sure he gets elected. One by one the Dems could lose the turncoats, the LIEbermans and Bayhs, etc. But he might not want to do that, as winning elections is not bi-partisan.
And the difference between Evan Bayh and a possible Republican't is what, exactly?

Lil' Luke is in way over his head. He is only there because his dad died. I'm sure he is a nice enough guy but this is important stuff. Let the guy get some time in in Buffalo on the local channel or something, not in the big leagues. For him to come in and be so totally off the mark is ridiculous. On the Rachel Maddow class tonight she explained it in detail how this is going to work and it is nothing like Lil' Luke said.
