Matt of the Hill
Matt is a good friend of mine so I'm really pleased with his announcement yesterday. He said he wanted to get some Hill experience to see how it all works up close and in person.
I've taken a job inside the House of Representatives (more on that when I've cleared what I can say) to see how the place works and to help create the space for more progressive policies. Ultimately what I've learned, from many of you as much as from the task of writing for the public for the last five years, is that there is a serious leadership gap in this country.
And by leadership gap, I mean something very specific, so specific that I'm going to give it a name. I call it a 'rootsgap'...read on
I think they can learn a few things from Matt.

Mr. Stoller. I hope your quest keeps your eyes open. I am quite sure there have been people from all walks of life, that have went into the political arena with visions and ideas. Unfortunately, they are soon swallowed up in the realities of government. It just seems that regardless where you live, the government monster has become too big to control.
I read this yesterday and was very excited about the possibility of breaking that bubble...something I think Obama wants, too.
Unfortunately, Matt will be working with the oldest congress in history (I think it was history, if not, a really, really long time) and that is going to be an uphill battle for him. I hope for all our sakes that the can achieve what he hopes to.
Good luck, Matt!! And godspeed, dude!
more dangerous than alcohol and gasoline.
The rootsgap you write about is there to protect each other, imho, because once one of those bastards goes down they are going to sing and bring down the whole bunch.
I just learned this week that the reason impeachment was not on the table was because Pelosi did a quid pro quo, her husband getting juicy contracts.
They aren't going to listen to us unless we buy them with more money than corporate America can.
Good Job Matt!!! I like reading the positive progressive accomplishments. Give em Hell!! :P
Yes, progressive voices need to be heard where it matters, in government and the media, please make yours heard!

Don't get use to any of the Senior Law Makers they wont be around for long when the investigations start. Most are up to the neck in the corruption done over the pass 8 years. The new Reps. will be different and do the job they were sent to do. It's always the problem when people stay to long and act like they were born into the job. My Rep. Calvert is hanging on a shoe string and will go down with Jerry Lewis. Plus Calvert has made millions with his illegal land deals he learned from Harry Reid how it works in Washington.
Way to walk the walk!
I tell you what...
