don't underestimate the cell phone effect.....
What the hell is up with Inouye?
Just to share some news about Florida early voting and the long lines. For early voting, each county doesn't have nearly as many places you can vote as they will tomorrow. In my area there were just three early voting places and tomorrow there will be at least 26 that I know of.
Along with many, I have reserved and cautious optimism about tomorrow’s results. Should Obama win, I will breathe a sigh of relief.
But if Al Franken wins in Minn AND Lizzy Dole loses in NC – I will be laughing my ass off as well.
I'll be listening for your laughter and hope to join you.
I miss laughing. It's been so lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng since we have been able to laugh.
I guess McGrumpy/Pail-in has gotten through.
So how does this work? If you're a reslug convicted of a crime just ignore it and it doesn't count? Does it take 8 convictions before he'll consider it 'real' ?? WTF?
The fact that he isn't in jail is bad enough but that he's continuing a campaign and thinks he'll just go back to his seat like nothing happened??
He's either delusional or the fix is already in.
I wouldn't count out either of those things.
Anyone who wastes a vote on stevens should be ashamed of themselves.
Just imagine what would have happened to Stevens if he had lied about getting a bj.
But it's only bad if it's a dem remember? If you're a rep. it's ok. Especially in an airport mens room with another guy.
But....
T'were a far-far better thing to be a skinhead than this guy:

I have seen far too many indications that a fascist domestic terrorist resistance to an Obama presidency is festering and indeed being ENCOURAGED by the likes of Palin , Fox Opinion Network and the disciples of Attwater and Rove . This "Plumber" spokesman shows all the signs of being a paid operative, much like the Watergate "plumbers". If there are true conservative Republicans out there who value the ideals of Lincoln and Eisenhower, rise up against this fascist takeover of YOUR party and stop this insanity before Republican becomes synonamous with National Socialism .
Obama is speaking in Jacksonville and he's in fine form. Smiling a lot too. He just said that in the last few weeks, McCain has called him everything except a child of god.
If Obama is rejected on November 4th for another authoritarian conservative like McCain, I must ask if Americans are sufficiently intelligent to competently govern themselves.
I've read all of John Dean's books, and I highly recommend them. They are a pretty quick read, but are thoughtful, insightful and if you decide to read all of the reference material, you will be up for many nights.
As to the above sentence taken from the article referenced in this thread, there really is no question.
Americans will have shown that they do not understand democracy, it's goals, how it works, or what is needed in order to foster it. They will have shown themselves to be traitors (to not actively understand your own government, or how it works, and to be a passive bystander in a democracy IS treasonous to the hard work of our Founding Fathers)to the beliefs, principles and bloodshed on which this country was founded.
incompetent to 'govern' ourselves, on such a scale as to beggar the imagination, whether they/we choose Obama or not...
But then we do not 'govern' ourselves. As voters, we are marketed to pols the same way consumers are marketed to advertizers. Patently, the "people" are not important factors in the policy loop, either domestically or internationally, given the ways the pols sytematically ass-rape and butt-fuck us for the benefit and entertainment of their bosses and paymasters in the CorpoRat boardrooms.
If you wanted any additional evidence, you have only to look at the "bail-out" to the financial big guys...
The Bush Obama McCain Bailout
It is the only thing I will borrow from Bob Barr.
And the People's Outdoor Media empire rolls on...

Kind of looking forward to a vacation. Believe me though, if the fuckers steal this one, you ain't gonna be able to recognize the freeways around here...
You linked to John Dean's article! Fantastic! I was hoping you would!
John Dean is a self-described Goldwater Conservative. He is no liberal, no progressive. He is much more libertarian in his leanings. I know I win few fans when I implore libertarians and progressives to cooperate, but I do so with the hope of marginalizing authoritarians, the very dangerous threat to everything American.
When interviewed on The Daily Show, Dean told Jon Stewart that his being a Goldwater Conservative puts him "left of center" these days. I think such a comment speaks to the plausibility of a progressive/libertarian alliance, and his linked article laments the rise of the authoritarian right in a manner easily embraced by both libertarian- and progressive-leaning citizens. It is an excellent read.
It reminds me of what Colbert once said to David Gergan: "The Right has gone so far to the right, it's left you Left." it is a sign of just how much our political spectrum has shifted.
this is all we heard from the house and senate democrats/some republicans the last 8 yrs. the BUSH
administration has ignored the legislative branch. even now the senate is dominated by the minority.
i hope people have been listening. it's challenging for some because this administration had an agenda
of perpetual politicization. they were constantly working the NEOCON agenda/philosophy to become
more powerful. i've been saying for many months mccain is a NEOCON wannabe. to me it's been obvious.
i hope people see what we see.
when you compare voting records regarding unions between Obama and mcLiar ....Obama wins hands
down. right now working unions need a friend. unions are a working persons version of too big to fail.
like anything unions aren't perfect corporate leaders/management/wall street like to remind us of that.
i feel people should have the ability to come together and negotiate their pay/benefits. having said all
that i hope union workers open their eyes and VOTE Obama.
Gawd, I have the TV on CNN. McCain is just shouting louder and louder all the time, with nothing but the same platitudes.
He's fucked. Good riddance, mostly to that screechwoman Palin.
LOL! He just spoke about speaking "here in Virginia."
He's in Tennessee at the moment.
I can't watch any of the US news channels any more. They've all become 24/hour mclame channels.
The media bias for the reps. is sickening.
They repeat the rep. talking points as though they were news and conveniently forget to include any facts or rebuttal.
Truly sickening.
I say that the new Democratic majority and new Democratic President, in the spirit of bipartisanship, fiscal responsibility, and even handed governing...cut off all Federal funding to the Red States, end all subsidies for public programs, roads, bridges, farms...so that those good American patriots living in those states can truly be free of government intervention.
Say Alleluiah! Say AMEN!!
It's Monday, therefore: Fox News calls the election for McCain, urges Obama to concede and his supporters to stay home.
;)
Get out that vote!
Why are all these ignorant, lying Reslugs always soooooo frickin ugly??
Tried to pay our bills last night--the monthly impossible dream of making ends meet despite working 4 jobs between my wife and me. If camp Obama is "in touch" enough to reference this epidemic on the day when everyone's bills are due, he could get one final bounce in the polls and close the deal.
