Corporations technically are people.

So why not some collective punishment and send a whole companies staff to prison for the company's crimes.

They all collected their bonuses when things looked rosy, they all collected their bonuses when things look shitty, and they all shared a collective role in covering up the lies and the fraud.

And this principle could be extended to the significant (say 5% plus) shareholding owners of the crooked companies, they benefited from the good times, they could also share the prison time.

Shareholders own and control companies/banks, they either make the decisions or delegate it to agents, either way they are responsible for the profits and loses, taking money out when times are good, and theoretically paying money into a company/bank when its in distress and in need of support.

But as we all know too well, when big companies/banks are in distress, they go running to the taxpayer instead of their shareholders for money.

Something stinks in the free market capitalist state of Denmark.

X runs Y, Y loses billions, X says "I don't know where the money went ! give me more money"

If a peasant chops down a tree in a forest, does anybody notice.

If a bankster burns down the forest, does anybody care !

and the massive $900B increase is sept 08.

still pretty frightening, inflation is the outcome.

ron's picture

Maybe deflation. Not too many buyers out there with no jobs.

I cant say I ever have, sales of various types yes.
But I never have seen a across the board decline of say 10 or 20%.

Its anathema for shop keepers to lower prices, not in their nature,a nd their banks would crucify them if they reduced their incomes.

But over the last say three years, prices have gone up 20%.

ron's picture

but look at the holidat sales . Down. Ain't the free market wunnerful.

Ferrofluid's picture

Clearance of old stock or junk that nobody would buy at normal prices.

And selective items to tease and entice people to come in.

Real price reductions across the board don't happen in the real shopping world, and if they did don't expect the store to be there next month.

ron's picture

but youhave to realize, these aren't normal sales. The market is going to decline until the working class has disposable income and they don't have it now.

Ferrofluid's picture

Thats the only way lower prices come into effect,
big names vanish, bargain basement sellers spring up with minimal overheads.

Take for example Wallyworld, hell would have to freeze over first before they implement a 10% across the board price reduction.

If anything they will increase prices to make up for their potential cashflow problems, PR it as going upmarket.

ron's picture

good morning concerned canuck, as i set here with my morning cup of joe and watch cnn ,i see the millions gathering at the washington mall and wonder why if americans had really been interested in change and the constitution being taken from them why it took the inaguration of a black president for them to decend on washington in such great numbers ? had they wanted good government they should have assymbled there in such great numbers after the second stolen election shutting down the house and senate , and surrounding the white house in such numbers that americans could not possibly be ignored by the corporate whores and the corporate news pimps, these last four years may have been different quite possibly the war in iraq and afganistan might have ended , thousands of iraqy afgany and palistinians may have still been alive george bush and cheny quite possibly have been run out of town on a rail tared and feathered , the things that could have been !

ConcernedCanuck's picture

I'm not sure how to answer you to be honest. I and millions others, cannot understand why the Bush Regime was allowed for so long. Some say it was the lack of votes, but if that was the real case, then why were these public servants re-elected by people that wanted something done? I mean honestly, if Joe LIEberman's voting public, really wanted something done about his actions, why do they keep electing him? Pelosi? Same thing.

History will wonder why we never jailed him.
