Congratulations to Kal Penn, who has accepted a position in the White House Office of Public Liaison as a link to Asian-American and Pacific- Islander communities (spoiler alert at link if you haven't watched last Monday's episode of House).

Many of my friends who worked on the Obama campaign came into contact with Penn, who volunteered for Obama, including canvassing in West Virginia (considered a solid McCain state). To a person, they said that Penn was smart, committed and will be a great addition to the Obama administration.

Demand Coleman's campaign contributors to get Coleman to concede the senate race !!

I found these company names on opensecrets.org as contributors to Norm Coleman's campaign.

I hope you will call these companies and tell the person who answers, "Your company has given money to former Senator Coleman who has refused to accept that he has lost the Minnesota Senate race and that I will not buy anything from you or do business with you until Norm Coleman drops his lawsuits and acknowledges that Al Franken has won and concedes the race." Pass this note around to your friends and fellow Democrats. Flood these companies with phone calls. Act polite but firm. Do not accept the argument that their pacs gave money and not the corporation. The company made it easy for their employees to give money to Coleman.

david rockefeller once stated:

“for more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents such as my encounter with castro to attack the rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over american political and economic institutions. some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the united states, characterizing my family and me as "internationalists" and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. if that's the charge, i stand guilty, and i am proud of it."

The next attacks on US soil are going to be by people who are desperate, just as many overseas terrorists are. Poverty and hopelessness is the foundation of terrorism. The next terrorist attack we have will be home grown.

Did anyone see the guy who took his 9 year old kid too a mini-mart and held it up at gunpoint for a couple of hundred bucks? Out of work and desperate.

CoIntelPro.PronktasticlyAgainst.SCLM.E-Voting.Incumbents's picture

as with most crimes, the victims are usually local. the rich will be living in gated, walled and hjeavily guarded communities more and more. most of our government buildings are externally fortified and heavily guarded. the tools of the rich will be protected.

Some stuff you can't make up!

Amitola's picture

...but THEY are not the ones who will get burned - unless you mean they'll lose their jobs... It will be the people and the police and military folks sent into the streets. The pols would be happy if some home-grown or any other kind of 'terrist'
started the next big CRISIS - all they need/want is an excuse.

The politicians and the corporo-fascists will retreat to their bomb shelters and safe houses and gated communities, while the poor folks will get their tents smashed and get tased and bombarded with magnetic waves (or whatever that machine shoots that they had on 60 Minutes a month or so back). They'll turn off the power grid and withhold the food deliveries.

No, if it ever gets to that point - which I surely hope it doesn't, the people who've created this infernal mess will not be the ones who suffer.

redjalapeno's picture

I appreciate that. It's my brother, and ya know how family can punch ya in the gut!

I think that these particular conservatives, of which I am learning that Virginia is abso-effin full of, are so consumed with their own ideology that they cannot see the forest for the trees. On the one hand a fascinating look at sociological behavior, and on the other hand completely infuriating.

And yea, anyone posting under 'Glenn Beck' is either comic or asshole. That did provide a very small bit of entertainment this afternoon.

Do you know the pulse of your state? How do the average Virginians feel about it?

CoIntelPro.PronktasticlyAgainst.SCLM.E-Voting.Incumbents's picture

where's it gonna come from?

Some stuff you can't make up!

redjalapeno's picture

It's basically the same pulse as anywhere esle I imagine; rural areas are extremely conservative here but so are the urban areas. Chesterfield is a fairly large urban area and it is more conservative than I thought. I grew up there about 30 years ago. It was just the woods then, now almost every inch is urban, but it is just as conservative.

Obama won the state and he's the first dem to do so in four or so elections. Kerry actually came pretty close.

I also think the politics here are split by age group; young = dem, older = repub. That's in general as I'm in the older and have always leaned left.

MsJoanne's picture

Is that going along the same lines...even for people who are out of work?

CoIntelPro.PronktasticlyAgainst.SCLM.E-Voting.Incumbents's picture

include the part for unemployment and the part for education.

**

I can't speak on that definitively, I really don't know.

I think it's a wait and see game here in Virginia. This is a solid red state that finally turned blue this past election. I'm guessing that many people here will feel abandoned by the GOP, especially if the economy continues to weaken. I don't think turning down the stimulus is going to help the GOP, but if you think about it - that's the GOP.

they are fascists. In germany, any person who was not of means or was of a chosen minority could be victimized with public support or indifference. we may be pushing back on the gay front, but the blacks are already lost, as demonstrated by the continued indifference to the plight of the Katrina victims.

the media has ramped up the din against minorities and has heightened the anger and fear and now people are looking for targets. are pogroms next? who knows?

but there is a concerted effort to destroy this country now that the choice was made by the people themselves to try to better their own lives.

now we can see that the repuglyKKKans don't want to ever see an enabled, intelligent and capable citizenry. and the people we elected are not lifting a finger to fix things.

Lawmakers: Stimulus saved Virginia jobs
Monday, March 30, 2009
By GINNY WRAY - Bulletin Staff Writer

Federal stimulus funds saved an estimated 90,000 jobs in Virginia, according to state Sen. Roscoe Reynolds.

“Thank goodness for the stimulus package,” Reynolds, D-Ridgeway, told about 60 people at the Piedmont Democratic Women’s Club’s legislative breakfast Saturday at Forest Park Country Club.

Both Reynolds and Del. Ward Armstrong, D-Collinsville, said the $1 billion in stimulus funds the commonwealth received prevented the budget shortfall from being worse than it was. The money was in the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Barack Obama last month.

While Reynolds said the funds saved 90,000 jobs throughout the state, Armstrong said they prevented the layoffs of 7,000 state employees.

“The stimulus money was a breath of fresh air” that helped legislators get through a difficult General Assembly session, Armstrong added.

The state faced an estimated $3 billion budget shortfall at the start of the session in January, and declining revenues cost the state another $1 billion before the session ended in February, he said.

The shortfall forced cuts in core services such as primary and secondary education, Armstrong added. But, Reynolds said, without the stimulus funds, jobs would have been lost in every school district and every constitutional office, as well as for vital services such as Medicaid and mental health.

He noted that the economic problems did not result from decisions made in Virginia. The commonwealth, he said, is rated the best state to do business and the best run.

why are there tolls anyway. is it because the state has no income tax?

Some stuff you can't make up!

Cronie3's picture

There are tolls because Gov. Rick Perry is corrupt. We already paid for these new toll roads in Austin with tax dollars ages ago, I've watched them being built for most of my life, and then at the last moment they declare they will be toll roads. They were suppose to fix Austin's traffic problems, and instead they are empty because most of us cannot afford to spend extra money to save some time and traffic headaches. They've even "upgraded" existing highways that were toll free and now they are tolled.

Perry is being challenged by Kay B. Hutchison and Tom Schieffer this next time around, hopefully they will beat him (no chance for Dem gov in TX anyways).

...what was the "one thing" Kumar wanted from the Prez.?

BTW, that was a great clip (Alabama kush...lol) and congrats to Obama choosing some voices from across the spectrum to start having a say in our government, more diversity truly benefits all of us.
