Norm Coleman Watch: It's time to pack it in...

Clown Coleman_52842.jpg

It's time for Norm Coleman to move back to Brooklyn.

The Minnesota Supreme Court today rejected a bid by Republican Norm Coleman to have hundreds of rejected absentee ballots considered in the U.S. Senate recount, apparently clearing the way for a state board to certify election results showing Democrat Al Franken on top — and also opening the door to a post-recount lawsuit that the Coleman campaign said "is now inevitable."

The state Canvassing Board is scheduled to meet this afternoon to review recount results. Heading into the meeting, Franken holds an unofficial 225-vote lead.

We will then be able to witness the ritual of a "Bill O'Reilly head explosion" at every mention of Franken's name on his show.

Harry Reid called Coleman and told him to concede.

I believe that tomorrow the bipartisan state canvassing board will certify Al Franken the winner. After all, early on Senator Coleman criticized Al Franken for wanting a recount and wasting taxpayer money. I would hope now that it is clear he lost, that Senator Coleman follow his own advice and not subject the people of Minnesota to a costly legal battle.

I don't think it helps Reid's cause not to seat Burris at this time. Blags played everyone, even Fitz. Legally speaking, how can Reid block his appointment?

Conservatives try to paint themselves as the law-and-order folks. Yeah, it's a funny concept, I know, but at this point it's time for the Coleman camp to think about "America" and concede. Instead they are talking about filibustering the seating of Franken, so we're in for another round of Conservative whining.

Malkin writes a title to a post that could describe the Republicans in Congress since 1994: "A real clown takes a Senate seat". It's always a scream when Conservatives whine about the recount process. Oh, how they forget.

HA!

Awesome!

Right with you LNM! He should go ask Bachmann for a job....love it!

...he's ineffective.

Tell Coleman to take his suits with him when he leaves, and I don't mean the legal ones. It should be interesting to watch Franken in the Senate.

We should start a campaign to send clown noses to re-Thug senate leader Mitch McConnell.

Stick that in your Lutefisk, Normie. Don't let the door hit you in the ass there, eh?

Comparing Burris to Franken is apples and oranges. I don't see how the two are remotely similar.

I can understand the hesitation to seat Burris. It appears Blago tried to sell Obama's seat and it makes this appointment suspect, IMO.

Although, in the end, I don't think there will be any other choice but to seat him.

It's all the more suspicious, because as I read (sorry, I can't attribute it) Burris gave Blagojevich $14,000 in campaign contributions. Quid pro quo appointment? Burris should show some altruism and withdraw his name. It looks like Blago is going to be impeached within a week or two (pity "Off-The-Table" Pelosi couldn't have acted with such dispatch). It may well be that the new governor would appoint Burris, and everything would work out. Burris is looking every bit as self-serving at this point as Lieberman or any repuke parasite.

Whatever this clown is, he's more ungracious than Hillary at her shrillest! Why not try just being a man??! Whatever happened to good sportsmanship? Hell, every poor schmuck with some decency and a sense of humor ought to run for office and at least have a chance at unseating these smug arseholes eating free on the taxpayer dime.

…that every day is a brand new day in the life of a Republican. Unless, of course, it suits them, then they have a memory like a steel trap. It’s in their hypocritic oath.

......also opening the door to a post-recount lawsuit that the Coleman campaign said "is now inevitable."

What is that about?

I was told by my local Congressional rep. that checking my apartment for mold was a waste of tax payer money, so I paid for it myself, 550.00. Such a small amount compared to this and no ones health is even at risk, republicans are morons.

Professional comedians should indeed have their chance at running our government. Those who have been doing it, aren't funny any more.

Maybe Norm can go back to Hofstra and re-take that building...what a frigging turncoat. The rest of us that kept our beliefs intact hate this skeevy wanker. I'm for Al, all the way.

It looks like this will be one election the 5 republican appointed conservative activist judges on the supreme court won't be throwing.

As a Minnesotan, I am happy to see him off. Of course he won't go easy. What are his options after his legal maneuvering has been spent? Will he run for mayor of St Paul again? Will he seek a representative spot in his district? Maybe he'll move to Alaska.

But, the clown get-up really makes Norms horse teeth show up.

another republican is punished for the last eight years of stupidity.

all of the Fitz R-BoA love going on

I have coleman's concession speech for him,

"A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down my pants."

)O(

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away [from DC norm?]?

go home norm, where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.

the rest of the country is glad you're going...

cheers to franken!!!! give 'em hell Al!

Redstate has this:

"Surprise, Surprise: Franken Catches All the ‘Breaks’

With Democrats Calling the Shots in MN, Every Major Decision Went Against Coleman"

I guess they forgot Bush V Gore when the 5 republican appointed judges on the Supreme Court called the shots. Karma's a bitch bitches.

O'Reilly has an anger-management problem. His head can easily explode. That's why he's managed to keep from mentioning Keith Olbermann's name all these years. If the name passes his lips, he knows his head will explode like a rotten pumpkin. The same is true for Franken. That's why he refuses to mention his name, and calls him "Stewart Smalley" instead. Five bucks says O'Reilly goes through the next six years referring to Senator Al Franken as Senator Stewart Smalley.

The inability to name an opponent fully and corerectly is a common trait among the hard-core right wing. For example they will say "Nobama" instead of "Obama". This is not just out of disrespect, but primarily out of fear. The fear is that speaking the opponent's name will mystically strengthen the opponent. It's a subconscious effect, they are probably not even aware of why they're doing it.

I might take your bet - but I don't think "Billo The Clown" - the original clown-face dolt - will be on the air in 6 years!
One can hope....

Followed the Malkin link, she has a link to a blog called douche bag report. It has a page called "sand bags".

Racist pig who owns that site is calling anyone of Arab descent a "sand bag". These are the people who are "for" the republicans.

I only made a little way through the 1st page of comments before puking. Couldn't imagine following a link there.

As infuriating as it is at times (and reading some of those comments are beyond infuriating...they survived Carter and Johnson but nary a word about the shit that Bush dumped on us, over and over), we still need to keep up with the thinking (used loosely) of the rightards.

Reslugs are thankfully fading into the sunset quickly and all that's left are the bottom feeders that are hate monquers, intolerant, bigoted assholes that make up the Reslug base.

let him stay in 35 below

in Sheepshead Bay?

Oh, wait - that would probably get you in trouble with the EPA.

Theres going to be a vacancy up there soon.

one aligned with Franken, the other with Coleman. About 50-50.

Time I say to create two new countries, USA-Blue and USA-Red.

Let people choose where they want to live.

USA-Red: SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, ARK, TN, KY, KS, OK, TX, NB, ND, SD, MT, UT, WY, AL. They'll have the best football teams and the best soldiers; the most churches per capita; the lowest education scores; a third-world economy; but they'll be happy, God bless 'em.

would they be a "third-world economy" when they'd have most of the US oil production? Think about that.

A net gain of federal taxes flowing into the red states from the blue.

Why can't Coleman just Get Over It© and Move On©?

Why is he being such a Sore Loserman©?

Nasty things happen to people with assorted corruption charges hanging over their heads, if they are not in the safe waters of the Senate.

to refer to Al as SENATOR FRANKEN every time.

Billo continues to lose viewership to Olbermann... and Franken accomplishes the ONE THING that Billo would never be capable of: WINNING AN ELECTION and GAINING A SEAT IN THE MOST EXCLUSIVE CLUB IN THE WORLD...
the U. S. Senate.

Good to see some intelligence and wit going to the Senate.

We can say we held the faith and had your sign in our yard.

Norm Coleman and Al Franken should get married.
They really do deserve one another.
Theirs was the best political drama this last election.

I have not one clue what you mean. They deserve each other? How so? Why would you say that?

Your comment is odd at best.

Unfortunately, when one looks closely at Franken, one discovers that all that glitters is not gold. Franken, like Obama, is not in favor of universal health care, as he prefers to keep the insurance companies in the equation. Franken, like Obama, believes that U.S. troops should remain in Iraq even after Obama's phased [as opposed to immediate] withdrawal plan is finally completed. Franken, like Obama, believes that U.S. soldiers should be sent to Afghanistan, where they can continue to inflict more misery and suffering upon the Afghan people. Franken, like Obama, is an Israeli apologist who believes that Israel is correct in slaughtering the Palestinians.

It would not appear that progressives [and certainly not the Iraqis, Afghans, and the Palestinians] have all that much to cheer about with the less than progressive Franken being voted into office.

Erroll, if what you say is true the funnyman sho' ain't so funny.
Considering all of the White Phos raining down on all the wrong people in Palestine you'd think cheney & bush were in the war room.

Really, that is really disappointing news about who Franken is.

Franken is positively golden compared to having Coleman retain his seat. So Franken is not perfect---who is? Politics is a game of incremental progress by inches, not miles, and I'll gladly take an imperfect Franken versus a seriously flawed Coleman.

But thanks for the FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) anyway.

Nah, Rethugs take care of their goodfellahs. I'm just hoping the bribery charges stick.

He's a Sore Coleman Loserman

Harry Reid has backed off his plan to immediately seat Franken, in response to Republican whimpering. This is because Harry Reid is a puuuuuuuussy.

I mean, we had 9ui11iani, and now you want to curse us with Coleman? Why can't he go to Alaska or Chicago--he'd fit in there.

As a progressive American, I have had my fill of Harry Reid. Period.

Last week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) issued a statement in which he said that Burris “will not be seated by the Democratic Caucus.” On what basis?

Monday, Reid took a softer line. “Of course, Roland Burris has not been certified by the state of Illinois,” he said. “When that takes place, we of course will review it. At this stage, we’re waiting to see what’ll happen in Illinois.”

Asked whether there was any chance that Burris will be seated, Reid said, “Listen, let’s just deal with reality, not with hypotheticals.” Asked about his earlier, unequivocal threat not to seat Burris, Reid said: “I’ve made my statement.”

Burris' message for Reid is simple: “I’m here to take my seat.”

In contrast to his first hardline, now wait-and-see approach with Burris, Reid said Monday that “Norm Coleman will never, ever serve [again] in the Senate.” Apparently, Reid feels no compunction to allow legal challenges to be heard and adjudicated.

COULD HARRY REID BE MORE OF A BUFFOON IN EVERYTHING HE DOES?
PLAYS INTO REPUGNANT HANDS EVERY TIME. MIS-STEPS AT EVERY TURN.
PAINTS HIMSELF INTO ABSURDITY WITH EVERY OPENING OF HIS MOUTH.

HARRY, RESIGN. OR JESUS CHRIST, AT THE LEAST, KEEP YOUR FRIGGIN MOUTH SHUT.

He's part of the problem and needs to be replaced by someone who's not a feckless coward. Someone who has the balls to actually make Republicans ACTUALLY filibuster instead of just saying the word would be nice.

Mr. Coleman:

Ta-ta, asshole.

Fight it all the way to the Supreme Court.

So the Supreme Court can tell you to shut the fuck up and go home to cry in your tent.

The longer Republicans act like spoiled little children told "No you can't have a cookie" the less likely they are to ever get back into power again.

So, Mr. Coleman. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
