The ballet pair of Ma Li and Zhai Xiaowei, she without an arm and he without a leg, is one of the most moving dances ever. More about these amazing performers is here.

you should really check out the brit press
with all the recent problems with the pms, and the world wide recession, they chose this week to attempt and destroy susan boyle...of britains got talent
when she performed tonite...there were a smattering of boos from the audience...very sad
hope im not spoiling it for anyone...but while susan ended up in the top 3...she didnt win
lashed out so some of the British public turned against her. But, supposedly Simon Cowell wants to bring her here! :)

They're driven by the tabloid press which is populated by arseholes whose most intelligent utterance of the day can be "C'mon lurve, show us your tits!"
The tabloids are all love one day on the new celebs, and all hate the next. This was very true of Jade Goody, a normal unfamous person, who became famous through her appearances on the Brit Big Brother.
First the tabloids were all "Hate her; she's low rent trash" then "Love her; she's got moxie!" followed by "Hate her; she's an out-of-control-racist" back to "Love her; she's dying, and WE have exclusive rights to the ringside seat!"
Unfortunately for Ms Boyle, Ms Goody died last month, and Ms Boyle is the tabloids new shiny thing to adore, then hate and adore again.
me-oww!
I'm not a huge fan of ballet or any dance, for that matter, but I have great respect and admiration for those who dedicate themselves to excellence no matter the obstacles. Bravo.

Really? I love dance and ballet and opera and musicals. Must be my genes.

It might be becauae I am a yoga teacher and I am in awe of the extremely complex and subtle movements they must train their bodies to do: extremely difficult. And then to make the impossible appear graceful and flowing and seamless. Magnificent.

tonight. The panel consisted of Rosie Perez, Alberto Gonzales, a Latino man whose name I didn't catch, and Ann Coulter.

Was it a case of her discovering her repressed inner rich white Republican soul !? Maybe she could start up a lobbyist group for the rich white oppressed minorities.

Is that the same Ann Coulter who called Muslims "ragheads"?

Thanks, nonny mouse. That is inspiring to watch.
Some of you may remember me writing about PBS's Religion Newsweekly show doing a story about how the aftermath and backlash after Prop 8 is dividing many Mormons. Well, here's the transcript.

That was an incredible performance! Makes me feel rather inadequate comparatively. Thank you for posting such beauty.

None of my limbs are missing... I'm not sure why you asked, but I will assume it was rhetorical.

nazi fascist corporatist neocons keep saying that Americans are afraid to have the detainees held in prisons in our own backyard. Since when have Americans become cowards. Say it ain't so Joe.
that consortium news had this article at the same time I had these thoughts.

What every report 'fails' to mention is that these poor people are not 'normal', because of the torture, they are severely traumatized!! It is really post-traumatic stress syndrome at the very minimum. The Petroleum mafia's, junta doesn't want the natives to see what they did to people with torture. Torture is something that continues to affect the victim for years, and years. Just like cats, they are again covering their asses.

Judging by the countries that the US chooses to make war against, I'd say that Americans have been cowards for many decades now. Grenada, Panama, Iraq (twice), Nicaragua, Guatemala, Vietnam etc. The only thing that they have in common is that they did not do things the "good old-fashioned" American way. If any country in this world tries to go their own way and help their own poor and destitute citizens by taking money away from the corporations and the super-elite, then that country will be targeted by the US for liquidation.
Amerika has always been the predator, always looking for a vulnerable gov. to over throw to secure the resourses of the people. Naomi Klein says it very well.
Naomi Klein was a key factor in my eyes being opened to what REALLY goes on in our world. Michael Parenti and Howard Zinn as well.
it's human, political or economic rights we're concerned about down there.

Even though the interview with Ma Li and Zhai Xiaowei is in Chinese if you read along the text on the page with the video interview... it's almost as if I can understand what they are saying... the power of the art of dance transcends verbal language and opens a direct path to the heart.

I know that you all want to talk, but it's been a long week for all of us.
Sometimes we feel as if we are the only ones affected by the financial crisis, but it has cost the Chinese an arm and a leg.
It took me a few seconds... LOL.

A Michael Moore-hating, pro-unchecked free market health care(and everything else) site is in dire straits, due to the economy it supported under Bush. They're also the same site that took Moore's money when one of the webmasters' relatives was ill, but still rail against government-run health care.

Buying votes, rigging elections, dealing drugs. Nice group of folks.
Amazed you didn't jump on Sen. Linsie Glam's performance on Fox Noise today. He actually said he would not vote (under any circumstances) for Judge Sotomayor because of the way Obama treated a Republican nominee. Talk about someone with a closed mind and an axe to grind. I think Linsie is a disgrace to the Senate and that the voters in South Carolina are total idiots for sending him back to D.C. each time he runs. And, BTW, he's obviously a closet cocksucker.
