John Harwood spoke much more candidly than I thought he would have tonight after the debate. He pointed out that Lieberman used Ronald Reagan's and George Bush's talking point strategies in his debate with Ned Lamont which is right in line with his Republican influences. He said that Lamont spoke directly to the people and came off very polished.

Harwood: He used the old Ronald Reagan line, "There you go again," to Ned Lamont and he used the strategy that George W. Bush used against John Kerry in 2004...

Noron: Is that going to work for him, adopting these Republican strategies when in many ways the heart of this debate is that Lieberman is too much like Bush...

Harwood: and you gotta say, Ned Lamont was a very polished and effective performer for somebody who lacks experience running against somebody who ran for President...

Noron: I agree with you...

I don't think that the war is the only position that Lamont is running on, but they did frame it that way. Harwood gave a bit too much credit to the netroots because the local CT'ers have been turning out in droves to support Ned. Norah and Harwood both thought Ned did a really good job for a man who has had no experience in a debate like this one before.
