The House of Representatives today rejected the Republican-sponsored bill that would have required notice to women getting abortions that the fetus might feel pain.

From my inbox: Though the vote was 250-162 (there were more yeas than nays) it needed 2/3 to pass (288)...so it FAILED. Women will not need to sign a release saying they are aware that their fetus may feel pain.

SFGate:"This sham bill is yet another partisan political ploy that misguidedly attempts to insert the government into private medical conversations between women and their doctors," said Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara, who helped lead opposition to the legislation."
